This is such a great point, and it absolutely infuriates me. The number of times he has played it to Willo, in a position where he has space to then take the ball forward a bit and pull the opposition out of place, so he can then play the ball (on the ground!) back to Anita or another of the midfielders so they can turn and be in a position to open up the pitch man! Instead Willo looks at the ball in terror and just hoofs it ... he's an embarrassment. Anita plays the way he does in anticipation of others continuing to shift the ball quickly over short spaces as they then look to move into better positions. Everyone has to have at least a similar mentality or it just doesn't work.

That's the thing. Anita keeps us ticking while his CM partner(s) always have twice the touches. It's weird that someone whose strength is spraying passes from deep has so little of them. The ball flying over his head is a poor explanation as Tiote and fucking Colback still somehow get the touches. Tiote has been garbage this season but as he showed last season, he's still the clear top option with Abeid who just simply has to play more. Colback and Anita just got schooled by N'Zonzi and Whelan (!) at home pitch ffs. 100% certain that Stoke won't have all that possession if the CM's were Tiote and Abeid.

He can't play further up. Honestly, I can't remember one ambitious pass that he has completed in his time here. He scored that one nice goal but he can't shoot. He's a DM who likes to hide with one questionable strength (passing sideways) in a team that's least suited to him.
