Yeah, for the last CL place, I'm actually open to that idea but again, if you're not good enough over 38 games then you're not good enough, period. That will always be my view. Why should you get two extra games to do something you couldn't do after 38. It's not fair, it's not a meritocracy. Edit - we should just give the last CL place to the FA Cup winners. Also unrelated but they should just merge the Europa with the CL or get the CL to subsidise the Europa by increasing the prize money of the Europa.

Mike has a point tho. The league is boring for teams like us as we're never going to win the thing and are usually too good to go down. We had an amazing last season yet we weren't any closer to win anything than we were in this horrible season. Last season we were dreaming of a Champions League spot yet what that would've given us? Few great European games and a lot of money which is still pocket change to Man United/City and Chelsea. Something is wrong when well run clubs like Spurs and Everton or even Arsenal are never going to win the league. I can't see playoffs changing much for teams like us as the top teams in the Premier League are much better/richer than the rest when compared to any American sports. Only way to fix this would be some kind of salary or spending cap but it is never going to happen as it would have to be implemented all across Europe. Feel sad after writing that.

He slips. But it's a red card. Maybe not a 3 game suspension, but definitely a red card there, he comes in a bit late and is unlucky as he slips. Still dangerous though. He tries to control the ball and slips. One of the worst red cards I've ever seen given. Wasn't sure whether to reply or not as you're very likely to be taking the p*ss here.

That great run from their RB was always going to cause trouble and I can't remember him getting turned inside out. But guess he was poor then.

Got back to the hotel. Great atmosphere in the second half, shame we couldn't score another. Disappointed on the result but we played well and thought Pardew had the right tactics considering Simpson and Williamson haven't played a lot and would've got killed on the counter. Both did well today. Hard to go out like this knowing we could easily be waiting for the semi-final draw now. We really shot ourselves in the foot in the first leg. Can't wait to see HBA on Sunday, we are gonna destroy the mackems.

Oh well done mate. Would have done it as well but the job doesn't let me leave the country this very weekend. Lucky enough that I'll be able to watch it. That's unlucky mate, this was just too good chance to miss for me. Might take some time to have a European QF and the mackems in space of few days again.
