  9. the business people at the club would be dealing with it. nothing suspicious in that, is there?? Business people at the club are dealing with this but in other transfers Pards himself has been on the phone to the other clubs chairman? Its so obviously normal that every transfer is negotiated bewteen chairman, so I dont see why he'd be referring to that. He mentioned it once but that was on or near deadline day, wasn't it? In that case, it's not unusual considering the window deadline was approaching and also this practice of enquiring directly to fellow managers is a kind of short-cut to take when time is tight. What on earth do you expect him to do in Germany anyway? There's little he could do.

  13. I am. Reckon could go either way. that's some foresight right there mate but aye, i'm worried it's dragging out a lot more than i hoped for and to be fair, whether yohan's here or not Inter is a massive pull also, think the thread change is misleading...doesn't exactly say that, to me it seems he just wants it sorted either way Knew somebody was going to come with something like that. My point is that this place pretty much celebrated his signature, prematurely as it seems, a couple of times before. (I was guilty of doing it on the first occasion, mind.)

  15. What other deals have we done since Pardew has been here where he's said this or similar? Genuine question if there are any. How many of them happened while he was 1000 miles away from it? I just took that he meant he wasnt in the loop as he was concentrating on the pre-season work over there in Germany rather than anything else. Only the same as when we sent Llambias and Charnley out to Holland to discuss De Jong tbf. I'm not saying there's definitely anything untoward about this, but it's the first time that I can remember reading Pardew's comments on a potential signing and feeling unsure about whether he's actively involved in whether or not it's a good idea. Something they've always been at pains to point out since the whole management structure was changed back. Pardew clearly rates Carroll as a player, but that doesn't mean he believes he'd actually fit in with the current team. He doesn't have to be actively involved anyway. At this stage of the negotiating, all he has to do is give them his footballing opinion about signing him back and the rest is between MA & DL and the Liverpool board. The only other stage that I would expect Pardew to be in further involved in is when trying to sell the club to the player and explaining to him where he'd fit in. (Obviously in this instance, the former is not relevant.)
  16. Of course there's something strange in those quotes. Pardew himself wouldn't make a point of it twice in one interview if it wasn't unusual or if he was having a less than usual level of input into this transfer. The guy doesn't always talk like that, or have I even heard him say anything like that about transfers, so obviously it's being conducted in a different way. I'm presuming this is Ashleys idea tbh. Oh, he said it TWICE no less?! Call da police! What does that even mean? There's no argument there, if you have a problem with what I've said, rub a few brain cells together and tell me why what I'm assuming is wrong. Have you heard Pardew say anything about not being connected to a transfer before? Why would he therefore mention it twice in what looks like a 3-4 minute interview, if it wasn't at least playing on his mind? How about because he's in fucking Germany at the moment? That's another reason.
  17. Sounds to me that he was simply emphasising that he, at the moment, doesn't know too much about it apart from that we're negotiating with Liverpool. Probably because journalist kept pressing him for more info.
