Gouffran will offer even less through the middle IMO. I know he's flavour of the month right now, and Cisse is the pantomime villain, but I haven't seen anything to suggest Gouff is going to be an effective CF. I'm with you.

Ignoring the fact that he didn't get the job this morning, why didn't Remy feature? You know, that guy who scores all our goals?
  3. That's the thing the top teams are that far ahead of the rest that their reserves would beat any of the others, apart from a fluke of last season they nearly always win the cup competitions. The rest of us just don't have the squads to compete and never will. Football is fucked they should just fuck these teams off into a league of their own with the rest of europes top ones That doesn't describe City tonight, they were absolute dross and very beatable.

Gouffran's effort was shite and offside to boot, and he took the ball away from Cisse at the far post. I don't really see how you can fail to accept it. Identical to the chance he missed against Fulham before (after?) HBA scored.
  5. Just like last year at Old Trafford, it was ours to take but we've prioritised a defeat at the weekend over potentially winning anything. Swish.
  6. Remy better be fucking dynamite on Saturday to make up for not "risking" him here.

  8. He gets away with playing people miles out of position because few of our fans have ever seen several of them play in their correct position.

Based on? He usually keeps his bad news for the breaks, not the good stuff.

Come on Wullie, you're better than this. Don't see why you choose to be so bitter towards people for expressing an opinion different from yours. Everyone was grateful for the jon Hughton did in getting us up, it's just that we didn't know if he was the person to take us forward. It's pointless to assess that opinion in hindsight because you don't like his replacement. Ian, you didn't want Hughton but you're happy with Pardew. You're a total joke. Wullie, I've never said either of those things. As usual, you simplify and/or ignore people's points to get a dig in. I was just wondering what Wullie's post count is like, from Sunday on. He hadn't been around much during the better performances, but he's certainly making his presence felt now. Like some kind of cheerleader for extreme, melodramatic negativity. Not looking to get involved, like. Had enough of it. Just thought I'd point it out. The negative posters on here are the likes of you and Ian, happy to slurp up whatever Ashley and Pardew offer you. Some of us want the club to do better.

You think Southampton fans are still crying at Adkins treatment? We should have done the same with Hughton man, just said thanks very much but your not good enough, we are striving for better now. It's a cruel game but that's how it should be. You're the one claiming Pardew's doing a good job ffs.

The bloke dragged us up from our lowest ebb and then little arseholes who spend their days rimming Alan Pardew and saying how upset they would be if Newcastle ever sacked a shit manager again have the brass neck to say "oh I wasn't arsed when he got sacked" or worse, "I was delighted" Fucking ungrateful wankers man. Cunts like that truly have got the Newcastle United they fully deserve.

5-1 wasn't good enough for Brett but 0-3 and 1-2 is. Thick as pig swill.
  15. Of course Ashley's the root cause but day-to-day, the miserable performances of the football team are of far greater concern. A position of "I'm content to see a lot of good players being completely wasted and spend a lot of money on being consistently bored and disappointed because of who the owner is" is mind bogglingly stupid.

I don't really understand what's being argued. It was a game in which either a draw or a defeat would have been completely unacceptable, and the manager takes responsibility for that failure. That's as much as anyone needs to know.

I don't understand how someone can say statistics are not useful in football. They have been fairly effective in basketball, which is also a very fluid game. I never said they're not useful, but simply not in the way they are for baseball, not even close. The initial point made was that "stats are useless without context" which was disagreed with "because Moneyball" - but that's exactly the point. There is almost no context in a batter facing a pitcher, in that moment alone it's essentially an individual sport, certainly from the batter's point of view. In comparison, there are very few points in a football match where a player's contribution isn't directly influenced by what his teammates are doing. It's chalk and cheese. Very much agree with your subsequent point.

Makes me cringe whenever I see Moneyball talked about in relation to football. You might as well pop anybody who does on the ignore list tbh.
  19. We were given the Leeds wanted it at £25 so we met in the middle for the last round, can't be arsed for one this round I assume. Aye, I thought that when the prices were announced. Cunts.

Neither win percentage nor points per game can tell anybody how miserable having someone like Alan Pardew in charge of your football team can make you feel on a regular basis.
  21. I'd prefer him to resign because he's woefully bad at it but I'll take what I can get.
  22. He's perfectly within his rights not to resign. However I'm also within mine to think that he's a spineless coward with no self respect whose only purpose in life is to coat Mike Ashley's arsehole in saliva on a daily basis. You can think what you like. I just think it's unrealistic to expect many managers to resign on principle. 99% of managers will just hang on until they are sacked either hoping for a pay off or until they have something else lined up. That's bullshit, managers resign all the time. Gullit walked, Roeder walked, obviously Keegan. Holloway walked last week! 99%? Nah. They're not all horrible selfish cunts like Alan Pardew.

  24. There have been no marches or public displays of opposition to the manager have there? There weren't marches or fan opposition to Hughton. Ashley generated ill-feeling by binning him off and bringing in Pardew. There weren't marches or fan opposition to Pardew. Ashley generated those by bringing in Kinnear. He likes to rock the boat when things are quiet. Generates press for his brand. People will always pipe down if the football team (the thing that most of us are interested in) are doing well. Can't believe I've had to explain that.
