  1. If Pardew resigned and we got somebody competent managing the players, I suspect Ashley would have a lot less marches and fan opposition to worry about.

Nah he knew all that when he took it, indeed that's why he took it, so he could be the patsy that the previous manager refused to be. The goalposts haven't moved.

Amusing seeing people saying "they only won because of a wonder strike" when attempts from distance were the only chances we were interested in having ourselves.
  5. The team is s****, you are worried that it could possibly make us slightly more s****? What do you even mean? I would've thought that would have been fairly axiomatic, however, just for you Colin. I'd like to see a protest outside of the ground, enough to get decent media coverage & put across a message to ''the board'' whilst undertaking the necessary boycoutts to effect them financially without causing the same disruption & negative feeling inside the ground that demonstrations have previously, such as the Hull game (08/09) How would you tell the difference? The team is shambolic on a regular basis.
  6. Would actually help if we had a natural winger in our side who likes to get crosses in the box. Once again that's down to lack of transfer activity, i'm not saying Ben Arfa is incapable of putting a cross in the box, he was clearly going solo which was disappointing but at least he was giving it a good go unlike others on the pitch. If we don't learn quickly how to break a side down when they've got men back in numbers, the season isn't going to be pretty. We need to pick our front 3 and stick with it, chopping and changing game to game is not going to get us in any sort rhythm and no awareness for one another will be found. Then why suggest that tactic if we don't have the players to execute it? Because you would like to think if you tell Ben Arfa to get wide and whip a few crosses in, he would actually follow your instructions and give it a go. He's took matter into his own hands and done it his way. Sure he will have got a bollocking for it but it's just the type of player he is, he's capable of producing that moment of magic to win any game but nothing was paying off for him on Sunday, he couldn't even dribble a few yards without slipping and sliding, the ball is usually glued to his feet but it was like he never had it under control. Doesn't address what I said though does it? We dont have out and out wingers, sunderland were playing with 2 CB's who like to dominate aerially, but yeah lets whip crosses into to Cisse/Shola. Or is that all Ben Arfa's fault as well? I'm not blaming Ben Arfa at all, i thought he was one of a few players actually trying to win us the game. Just at times he picked up the ball centrally and had Santon out wide but was always delaying the pass by about 5 seconds, just wasn't quick enough, he had another off day but can't fault his effort. Was more p*ssed off with Remy the fact he didn't want to know, he's capable of coming deep for the ball but he wasn't interested. Apropos of nothing.
  7. “It boiled down to the fact that there weren’t enough crosses going in for the front men."
  8. The club's entire aim is to take the piss out of the supporters as much as possible.
  9. You Twitter mentals should start a "Buy the Chronicle" campaign, certainly for tomorrow at least. If this drives their sales up even a fraction, they'll go through the gears. They have to, the paper's on its arse. This could be the best thing that ever happened to them but we have to put our money in their pockets to really stoke them up.

He's your classic football know-nowt who thinks that the manager basically turns up on a Saturday and selects the team. The type of person in the office that says "but what could he possibly have done differently on Saturday?" that you know never to speak to ever again.

His record against Poyet stands at W0 D1 L5. No wonder the mackems were so keen to get him in. That's all that matters.

The cliche is that the form book goes out the window in a derby when in fact what actually happens is that one team has a psychological superiority and will win or avoid defeat 90% of the time. Tottenham simply could not turn over Arsenal or Chelsea for about fifteen years each and even now, tend to capitulate against the Gunners. Liverpool always beat Everton, regardless of form. Just the way it is. It used to be like this with us. Even having gone down, when they came back to SJP, Cattermole wet himself in the tunnel at the prospect. Now the tables have been turned, by the most cowardly man in football. Now we fear them, and Pardew is their bitch.

The derby under Keegan, we were wearing slippers and smoking cigars. Easiest afternoon since Shearer's free kick through the wall.
  16. yet Lee Ryder continues to be employed. He's almost certainly the best they can attract though, they're just a small paper. I disagree there like, the bloke can barely speak English. I'll do it for a start.

How come Sunderland weren't able to close down Swanseas's team and stop them from passing it? What was the score from that one again? Oh yes...4-0. Good question, a different game, less passionate fixture, less help from the fans, no new manager, less desperation for a win. Swansea are better passers than us as well obviously, if that's what you mean. But that doesn't mean that what I've said about the two sides is wrong. No new manager. I meant the new manager effect making Sunderland want to impress and give everything more than usual. Err righto. So sunderland didn't have a new manager against Swansea, is that what you're saying? Jesus. Did I ever say a new manager guarantees winning every game? I was just talking about the various factors at work in the derby. I don't know why people seek to simplify these arguments to such a degree. No, sorry hang on, you're just blatantly making shit up there. You've attempted to give a list of reasons why their game against Swansea was different to their game against us and included "no new manager". I've put it in bold since you seem to have forgotten. They did have a new manager against Swansea but you're now trying to claim that doesn't count because it wasn't the "new manager effect" or something.

TBH, I do enjoy the fact that we are no longer thought of as a club that is constantly sacking managers. I don't think this is really such a mental positive to take from the situation. It's a real positive that the club hangs onto staff that are demonstrably not good enough at their job? Not just a "positive" but something you "enjoy"? And some people claim you're not here on the wind up. Well that's not what I said, but don't let that stop you having a pop. In our recent history, we've been thought of as a club that sacks managers often, and prematurely. Yes, there are a lot of negative aspects to how we're run now. And whether or not you want Pardew sacked is a matter of personal preference. But one positive aspect is that we're now seen as trying to take a longer term view. Why is that a positive? Is there a correlation between length of managerial stint and success? I bet there isn't. Obviously it's impossible to prove with statistics, you can't say what would have happened if someone had or hadn't been sacked. IMO it's a good thing not to be sacking managers all the time. I'd rather have a team with a good manager than a shit one with a long deal but whatever you get pleasure from, Ian.

Nah he'll not want to upset his paymasters, especially after the ban on Thomson House. BBC have got the exclusive commentary gig and they'll tread very carefully to keep it that way. Always the same on that show, you can guarantee when Pardew does fuck off though that he'll say it was the right decision. Mackem Marco has done that about half a dozen times, defended their latest manager to the hilt then days later praised their dismissal. It's pathetic.
