I'm not defending Mike Ashley, I simply don't share your belief that he's willing to see players drop in value due to mismanagement. Our transfer policy is completely different now. Trying to deny that is ludicrous. When we came up I wouldn't have expected him to buy Cisse or MYM or Santon or Debuchy. Things have changed.

Times haven't changed? Three years ago when we came up, our central midfield was Nolan and Smith, now it's two regular French internationals. Give over man.

Times have changed since Ashley's last managerial appointment. Back then, Hughton was having to make do with the squad he'd brought up from the Championship with almost no investment. Fast forward and now we're buying classy internationals worth good money. I don't see the logic in swearing blind that Ashley will always be happy to give international players to a manager he dredged out of League One, and get no on-pitch return and subsequently less financial return. That may well be the case but I'm willing to take my chances.

Not quite the tubthumping response I was hoping for. You've got one wish though - you haven't got an average manager, you've got a poor one at this level. No other Premier League club would give him a job, that's why he'd dropped into the lower leagues.

If we're talking about "marginally", if Wigan had held their midweek lead and Harry had picked Fabio instead of Bosingwa, we'd be in the bottom three with a game to go. We've been far far closer to relegation than UEFA cup success.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and I would hope that nobody on Newcastle-Online feels like they can’t give theirs but if you’re going to say that you’re “happy” for him to stay then you’ve got to be able to back that up to be taken seriously. Do you think he coaches the team to attack dangerously? Is he able to maintain a well drilled defensive structure? Is he able to do both of the above at the same time? Do you think he keeps the players fit enough? Do you think he sends the players out positively, and with confidence? Do you like his ability to change a game? Do you think he sets the team up well from the start? Do you like the style of football he employs? Does he get the best out of his players? Do you think players have improved significantly under his coaching? If so, which ones? Do you think his tactics are sensible? Does he get the best out of his squad i.e. do you think he’s able to work well when players are injured or suspended? Given that he doesn't have a massive say in who we sign, do you think his football is the right football for the type of players we purchase? Are you excited by the prospect of an NUFC led by Pardew into next season? Personally, I’ve given my opinion on all of these things and more. “He deserves a chance” is not a reason to keep somebody employed in the most important job at a Premier League football club, any more than it is a reason to give me the job, nor is “we might have less injuries”. I want to hear reasons why he is the absolute best available man for the job, and better than any single one of the alternatives, not hear how somebody else might be worse or hear more about how hard done to he is. If I wanted to hear that, I could just listen the man himself.
  7. We were fucking dire in the four months before Ba left. Even worse than of late.
  8. If Colo goes and Pardew stays (pass me that noose), Pardew's going to need to coach an entirely new defensive unit instead of the one he inherited from a real coach that had been playing together for years. He's not even remotely capable of doing that.

    Newly promoted.
  10. Exactly. If only we'd spent it in the summer, eh. Could have been another 6 or 7 points better off sitting pretty in 8th. And the football would still be completely unacceptable.

Talk of him keeping his job frightens the shit out of me.
  12. I'd sacrifice my entire family to have Wenger at Newcastle. A brilliant man.
  13. The team of the week is always "10 players that scored"
  14. Now that Fergie's gone, Welbeck won't last long. Never a Man United player in a million years. He'll end up on the bench at Fulham or somewhere.

Good God man, he's questioned the source so I've given him other sources. You're on the biggest wind-up of all time this evening. I'm not winding anyone up, we've been through this FFS. We've been through it. The guy questioned the source and I provided additional sources and up you pop. I don't care if you think we've been through it or whatever, you're on the wind-up. I'm honestly not. Obviously nobody would deny the quotes are real. Get out of town man Ian.

What else would he be implying? That he wanted to hear the full interview for tone and context? Like what we've been discussing for the last three hours. But why would he question the legitimacy of the source if that's the point he was trying to make? Are you fucking cowwied off your nut or summit?

"You don't get a draw at West Brom and West Ham and a win here today if you've got rifts going on."
  19. Absolutely delighted for Hughton.
  20. Fucking hate it when MOTD have current managers and ask them if they're interested in other jobs. Have some fucking respect for their clubs ffs.

Astonishing thing to say at any time but saying it after a 3-0 and a 6-0? What's it going to look like for him if it actually is 4-0 or similar, which is very possible? Does he know we pay money to get in or does he think we just get in for nowt and are lucky to get anything to watch? Knob.

In terms of league position, the Europa League had no effect on Stoke at all. In fact it rarely does to any team.
