I actually give up. Paddy Power paid out. :aww: Haha, nice one, I wondered if any of the bookies would. I've gone £50 on Argentina. £5 on Holland and Brazil, both HT/FT. £20 on Holland win. Sweet.

Very difficult for an attacking full back to work effectively without cover and understanding with the wide player. How can Cole commit himself when Gerrard's wandering round in the centre circle? Look how much better Jose is when he's with Jonas as opposed to when he's with someone else.

I wanted to have the Radio 5 commentary on but it's about 2 seconds ahead of the ITV feed. Fucking irritating.

Chile defending counter attacks nearly as poorly as England. Seeing Howard Webb's smug fucking baldy heed makes me want to kick the telly in. Actually hope he gets the final and completely fucks it up and has scorn poured on him the world over. Wanker.

Knew he would have another shocker when the rest of the squad were peddling the "he's been amazing in training this week" - Shola-esque.

Luca, a few of england's players are obviously great players at domestic level but maybe there is grounds for the argument that it is the foreign players around them who allow them to play like they do. I think we have match winners but lack the ability to really control games. There are far too many in the squad who don't even get a game at their own clubs as well.

"The players don't care" is a nonsense. I'd rather have the clinical efficiency of the Germans than a lot of chest pounding and Steven Tayloring. It ignores the real problems in English football. If Robert Green catches the ball and we win the group then beat Ghana and go on to face Uruguay and beat them (neither are particularly great sides), do they somehow care more? Technically we're not up to it. We must be one of the worst sides for simply keeping possession of the fucking football.

Shame alot of people think like him and let him off the hook by going "His teammates were shit!" "No service!" etc. Do they? Don't think many people are doing that tbh.

Said so many times but it's tragic for England that our classy German ringer is made of balsa wood.
-
Me either. The fact they can't show replays is one of the reasons - so what's the point in that case? To watch the match on? I'll use my eyes, thanks, that's why I buy a ticket. Point of course is to show 90 minutes of Sports Direct ads.

Bet Pedro Mendes has bored the arse of the rest of the Portugal squad today - "yes Pedro we remember, will you shut the fuck up about Roy Carroll please?"
-
How anyone can blame James is baffling. He made two saves he maybe shouldn't have, and was left without protection time after time. He's one of the only players that can walk away from that tournament with any sense of professional fulfilment.
-
I agree with Aphrodite, there's no way he can rule the goal out based on the big screen. Not a chance.

Anybody else and they'd have been dropped by now. you two are f***ed, utterly f***ed if you believe that He's played bad for four games and players who play bad should be dropped until they earn their place back in the team. What's 'fucked' about that? "squad" was used actually, not team, and i'll refer you to Alan Shearer circa 1996 for an explanation. In football you don't just abandon your best player(s) due to a temporary loss in form. Everything in Rooney's career to date suggested he would have put in a performance sooner or later. Later never came. But then maybe you're right, if Heskey or Crouch had of started then things would have been very different I'm sure. Shearer turned up on day one though and scored against Switzerland. If he'd got as far as Rooney without scoring, he would probably have been dropped.

Yes, but not during a single game. I don't think he made changes which influenced the course of a game once this tournament did he? His substitutions have been the worst part. Shaun Wright Phillips ffs.
-
Lots of questions to be answered though. If he was picking players based on form alone why pick Heskey ahead of Bent? If he was picking players based on loyalty to the players who qualified us why not pick Walcott? Why was there no room for younger players who ended the season well like Johnson? Why was there no plan B? Why did we make so many like-for-like substitutions? Why didn't we practice any different tactics in the warm-up games? Why were Lampard and Gerrard shoehorned into the same midfield AGAIN? Et cetera. I do agree, I guess it's just borne from the frustration of these great players being so bad... again. Rooney pisses me off the most. Lampard and Gerrard have had their moments and I can understand the differences in playing a certain way at club level, particularly for Lampard but Rooney's not been able to so much as control a fucking ball for a fortnight.

I really like Fabio, usually I'm pig sick of the England manager and I do think his selection policy has backfired on him spectacularly (I still don't understand his loyalty to certain players nor how he came to certain decisions) but I'd be willing to give him a crack at Euro 2012. I feel the players have let him down much more than in the past.

Was a lush little dink from Lampard btw.

I think Nolan might be one of them.
