  1. I've finally been enjoying being a Newcastle fan rather than suffering it for the first time since Sir Bobby was here and it's just all gone out the window. Nice one.
  2. Love how some people are convincing themselves that the system as it allegedly is (i.e. someone other than the manager being allowed to sell important players without the manager's approval and not even bothering to replace them) would be fine if we had a foreign manager. I can just see Wenger happy as a sandboy on the last day of the transfer window when he gets a phonecall saying "he" has just sold Fabregas.
  3. I'm glad him and Nacho are away at the moment (as well as Jonas and Colo) so this won't be hitting them too hard.
  4. I think theres a difference between having a good existing team and being able to that and being a club needing to boost itself. As I've said elsewhere I think the aims of the structure is laudable in the long term but I don't see the harm in having a one-off spree to get us going. I honestly don't think that Ashley would have been against shelling out for a really good player, but those players want to go to Champions League clubs or at least clubs who are in Europe. You can try to compensate by paying huge wages, but that gives you problems as well. Ashley is right and Keegan is wrong on this. Unless you've got Abramovich-style millions, you have to build slowly. How do you know what Keegan wants? Do you think he should just have his players sold without his say-so?
  5. And because he's Dennis Wise. Your average casual Newcastle fan who takes an interest but tends to just get their info from papers doesn't know who Tony Jimenez is.
  6. I'd be picking Taylor for the time being, and as you know I'm not a huge fan but Bassong's still very unproven. Apart from that, it'd be the same XI other than I'm not sure about whether to choose Barton, Charlie or Gonzalez in that third midfield spot. Nice to have that many options which I think that system does give us, even with our small squad (Geremi can of course do a decent job in either of the wide positions and Butt is not quite finished yet). Viduka's a wonderful player to have against the dross in the league because they can't handle his class, but despite the fact he's scored some huge goals against the best in his time, he can't really do it anymore against those clubs for 90 minutes. He's a great asset to have on the bench too, he can change a game in a second. I'm looking forward to seeing Xisco coming into things without all the pressure on his shoulders like for example Oba did. If Vids (and Owen) can stay fit, we've now got a whole range of different options up top, both in a 4-4-2 and in the 4-3-3.
  7. Last night, he had A S H L Y, he obviously couldn't find anywhere starting with E in between. I love his village tours.
  8. If Wise goes, we can wave goodbye to any chance of Gus Poyet ever being our manager. ... bin him!
  9. I'll reserve judgement until I hear something concrete rather than what the city's taxi drivers are spreading.

    Keegan at Fulham.

Unless he was flogging players behind the manager's back, I don't see how it makes him a hypocrite.
  11. Bought anelka for city didnt he? He also bought David Sommeil, Eyal Berkovic, Robbie Fowler and Michael Tarnat. I'm just really playing devil's advocate here really, I'm not particularly of one opinion or another. Tarnat and Berkovic were successes, Berkovic was voted Man City's player of the year ffs! And Fowler, who had a 1 goal every 2 games record for Leeds, was bought for the relatively risk free price of £3m up front, £3m dependent on performances. he also finished man city's top scorer in one of his seasons there. He also signed Ali Bernabia who if you ask any City fan, was a huge success and ended up being made captain. Distin was an inspired buy too as Keegan moved him into the middle after playing full-back for us. If there's one thing i could change about Robson's reign it would be getting Distin instead of Bramble. of course keegan has bought his fair share of duffers but so has every manager. Robson bought Viana, Cort, Bramble, O'Brien, Bassedas and so on. but transfers are only a means to an end - ultimately Robson made us an excellent side and that is what counts. I was very good friends with a Citeh fan when KK was there so I saw quite a lot of them in the Championship and Ali Benarbia was absolutely fucking class. They were phenomenal that season they got promoted, they were just like us when we did. And for the umpteenth time, I don't think the buying of players has been a problem for KK (apart from not getting enough). Just listen to his interviews about Jonas during the summer.
  12. as others have said, getting your players to play well together is the hardest, and therefore most important attribute, thats what he offers to us. they're dispensable, he isnt. if ashleys gonna continue with the long term plan then there isnt a better man than keegan as he'll get pretty much any players playing, once you give him good players he can do wonders. Keegan hardly has a reputation for signing duds either. But anyway as I've said, he never shut up over the summer about how good Jonas was and the same with Colo when he arrived. I really don't believe the signing of players is a problem, more the selling of ones he wants to keep.
  13. Did we ever make certain that we signed Spear from Plymouth? Said to be the new Rooney, don't worry, we'll turn him into the new Brayson.
  14. I can't wait to see him play, under kk of course. He's got a great first game to try and get off the mark too.

    Dennis Wise

A lot of people saying they're pleased with Wise/Jimenez/Vetere because of the players they've brought in, well tbh I think KK is as well. He might be over the moon with Xisco but if he was made promises about certain positions being filled with the Milner money and that hasn't been done, he has every right to feel aggrieved. You might say he was putting it on but for my money, he's looked absolutely delighted with Jonas and Coloccini.

His focus has never been on first team transfers though. That's Jimenez' job. Bearing that in mind, I don't see how he's undermined the manager either.

    Dennis Wise

He's just an easy target because of who he is. Bet the halfwits chanting for his head earlier have never heard of Tony Jimenez, for example.
  18. I love the caption on the picture: 'A dejected Kevin Keegan during Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Arsenal' even though it clearly isn't.
  19. Tomorrow's going to be just as bad as well unless the club make a announcement first thing saying "he's staying and let's get on with it" and I won't hold my breath on that one. Either another day of not knowing what the fuck is going on awaits or he goes early and we have another day of misery while we wrap our heads round it. This is supposed to be an enjoyable pastime of a weekend ffs.
  20. Ashley and his entourage need to get a tank and get round KK's like the Spaced gang going round Marsha's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv3VZcFbakc
  21. I feel like a relative in a hospital waiting room. I'm absolutely exhausted, been through the mill emotionally but can't just walk away and go to bed in case I miss anything and I have to get up in the morning to find he's gone.
