Borussia Dortmund vs. Newcastle United: 7/11/23 @ 17:45 (TNT Sports)
Dan Gleebals replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
If we somehow win this tomorrow, and then against Bornemouth, what a run we will have had against some big teams, with pretty much half a squad. I cannot believe we are keeping this going despite loads of players out. No one is complaining, they just keep digging deeper and deeper. What Howe has done with these players in terms of team spirit and drive is completely mind blowing. If the lads can muster up a couple more wins, It will be astounding. Then we can hopefully get some players rested and fit again over the international break for another push! -
After last night, I think he has to use Hall more, especially if Burn is getting skinned/looks as shagged as he has in some games recently.

There was a video of the lads coming back in after the game yesterday, and Bruno did appear to be grimacing a bit! Hopefully noting. Did wonder why we had to bring him on personally. -
Kieran Trippier: to join Wolves on a free (various)

If anyone is allowed a couple of off days, it's him. He has been incredible for us. We need Botman back, and he needs a break. Hopefully Tino plays at Manu. -
Dont think I have every been called a WUM in nearly 20 years of posting on here, and really not sure what I said that constitutes being a WUM. The fact that you just reply to people's posts telling them to to piss off, says it all really.

I agree. However, think we have missed something here and it will cost us. Not convinced by him at all yet, and its going to be a long time to find out either way. We will try and fight this, bar some real evidence, it's going to be hard however.

Newcastle United 0-1 Borussia Dortmund (25/10/23)

Great post. A lot to learn but we will, for sure. -
My prediction. He will be a great player for us, despite the doubts, and this will all prove to be a side show. I don't bet, but defo having a few quid on him at the weekend. Toonali

Think he will score today -
Brilliant challenge. Gets that wrong by a split second and thats probably a red!!

Totally agree about Tripps, without doubt he has had the biggest impact and catalyst for other things to happen on a number of levels. Others as well. Regarding Botman, I guess I was saying when you consider eveything (age/fee/positon) he has been unreal, and very consistent with it. He sounded very disappointed with a draw in Milan. The lads a winner.

Out of all our signings, he has been the most impressive IMO. Absolutely amazing for his age to come in and play like this at CB. Others might get the spotlight, but this kid is totally class.

To a large extent, I think the pressure is off us for these CL games, and that should go in our favour. We have to go there and enjoy it and play without fear. No one is really expecting us to rip up trees, although some pundits think 2nd in the group is achievable. I personally think we can come second, and probably will. Sure Howe will be pushing Tonali for lots of insight for this. If we can get that intensity back that we have lacked in last couple of games, I am sure we can hurt them. Winning start for me. -
Really still cannot work out how that is a penalty. The ball was virtually over the line at contact point so he was hardly in control of it, or going to do anything with it without contact. Will take it but would be mighty pissed off if that had gone against us.
-
3 points was the most important thing today, but many elements to improve on . Think this will lift everyone though, what a week to come. Think the CL is a bit like the Cup Final was last year for some of the players, a distraction but not a positive one. Once the CL starts, I think we will chill out a bit and start to relax and play our game again. Strange the intensity seems to have vanished but I was glad to see Longstaff back in the side, besides some of the comments about him today. Think he does so much off the ball and breaks stuff up - something we have been missing this season IMO with the prior midle three. Remeber, this is a young squad with much to prove and improve. It will come, we just need to believe in EH and it will come good.

Fuck off. Fuming. Anyone else but them. Big lesson learnt for all tonight, hopefully.

My hatred for this lot is probably not normal. The one team I really really hate losing to, the one team a win against has you feeling abnormally happy. Time to give them a proper hiding. Hopefully the 4.30 kickoff will fuel the atmosphere and it's all out abuse. -
Agree, hence Hall being loan to buy. Not sure what is in it for Chelsea, other than gauranteed money next season (which is a decent fee!) and probably a decent sell on.

All these long winless runs come to an end at some point. I know it covers many teams, but remember our 3-4 year run from 1997 of 30 odd games in London without a win? I nearly lost my shite (in a good way) when Robert scored in the 90th min at Highbury, it was a great game to be at. Anyway, back to this one - possibly the best time to play them for the reasons mentioned already. Key thing is we go there without fear and play for the win, which is exactly what Howe will be drumming into the players all week. There is certainly no harder place to go at the moment but we have to keep our philosophy going, win or lose. Shades of 2001 win at Arsenal in 2001this one for me. I reckon 3-2 to us. -

As soneone rightly said to me, we are now a club that has 40m players on the bench. How far we have come!!
