    Sunderland

The worry is with next week, is that they were more-or-less in the same position when we faced them at wor place back in April. Pardew has to make sure we are up for it.
  2. Big Geordie

    Sunderland

'Bring Back di Canio' being sang by some of their lot.
  3. Mackems getting scuttled 4-0 now. also - some of their lot singing 'Bring Back di Canio'.
  4. How did the pre-match march go - was it well attended or a damp squib?
  5. Again? My bad. Thought he got the first.
  6. Eto'o scores again for Chelsea. 2-1.
  7. Mackems 3-0 down Bony with a pen. Swansea with 3 goals in 6 minutes.
  8. Unfortunately, I think the scousers will pinch one here to win it. Been out, so have only listened to the second half. Have we done well?
  9. Would be interesting to know your proper name, JToon7 - just out of interest. Even though you never played for the first team - you have lived the dream, if you pardon my expression!
  10. He did - they were linked with a £10 million move, around the same time as we bought Shearer. Le Tissier played for the team he supported, all of his career. How many of us would do that for Newcastle - at the cost of winning medals? I know I would!
  11. Didn't he score a hat-trick for England Schoolboys at Wembley ? I seem to remember it was on TV for some reason. He did and I watched that one. Was touted as the next Bryan Robson. Whatever happened to Jamie Mole after he left Blyth - did he pack in altogether?
  12. Only the polis in charge can answer that, CG. But aye - I agree. Also interesting to note that most of those arrested hadn't even been to the match. Bizarre.
  13. Some very harsh jail terms handed out above - was surprised. But perhaps, it will get the message home loud and clear.
  14. I'm not sure Gatehsead could manage in the FL. Attendances are a real problem.
  15. Oh aye - and saw Lee Clark play against my school year (25 years ago) when I think he was playing for Walker HS? Ran the show for the first half (no-one could get near him)- they were 2-1 up. His manager than took him off at HT as he was supposed to be playing for Newcastle reserves later that night and wor lot came back to win 5-2. Show how much of an influence he had. I used to go to Bedlingon HS, btw - had a canny team that year. I was never good enough to play, but I used to train with them, etc.
  16. I went to school (and played football with - abeit only on the Playground), with a centre-half called David Walton. Had had spells with Sheffield United, Shrewsbury, Crewe (was their record signing for £500k at that time), Derby and Stockport. Decent lad at school, but quite arrogant.
  17. Was there many turned out? Tried to listen to the commentary, but it sounded like they had Norman Collier on, due to the wind.
  18. Yup - this kid was apparently on work experience, painting the stadium through the summer.
  19. Oh dear.... http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/03/20/sir-john-hall-les-ferdinand_n_2914812.html?utm_hp_ref=fb&src=sp&comm_ref=false Sir John Hall, Former Newcastle United Chairman, Makes Racist Joke About Les Ferdinand The Huffington Post UK | Posted: 20/03/2013 13:18 GMT | Updated: 20/03/2013 14:23 GMT Sir John Hall, the former Newcastle United chairman, made a racist joke about Les Ferdinand on live radio today. A guest on talkSPORT's Richard Keys and Andy Gray show, Sir John reminisced about the Magpies' vibrant and eventful 90s era when they vied with Manchester United for the title in 1995-96. Talk turned to striker Ferdinand, signed from Queens Park Rangers for £6m in 1995, when Sir John, who turns 80 tomorrow, made the inappropriate crack. "I couldn't see Les Ferdinand because he was stood next to my black Aga," Sir John said, as a stunned silence from Keys and Gray followed. The show swiftly took a commercial break after the remark and when it returned the trio swiftly apologised for what was said. Having begun his chairmanship of Newcastle in 1992, Sir John was instrumental in Newcastle's rejuvenation from relegation fodder to Premiership contenders, as St James's Park emerged into one of the most impressive stadiums in the country. After a health scare, Hall handed over the Chairmanship to Freddy Shepherd in 1997 and son Douglas looked after the Hall family's interests in the club. Sir John sold his entire 41.6% shareholding in Newcastle in May 2007 to Mike Ashley for £55m. ----------------------------- Oh dear. Sir John is from a area and era where such comments would have been common and are perhaps still being said today. Still no excuse though. I wonder if Les will take legal advice on this?
