Doncaster v Newcastle - 19:45 Tuesday 23/03/10 pre-match thread

Unfortunately I now see tonight as a real banana skin. Think Doncaster will take it 2-1. As for Carroll starting - I'd be very surprised if he does. -
If this turns out to be true, then the club has to deal with Carroll and move him on. The kid has potential and done really well of late, but it's tempered by the fact that he seems to be a knacker and we've had too many of them in recent years. I for one hope that the club don't try to shove this under the carpet. A broken jaw is a serious injury - GBH I believe if it's the result of an unprovoked punch.

Never met him, but often used to see him on a matchday back in the early 90's. One of those few men who's whole life revolved around Newcastle United.

What is it with us and playing away from home? For me it's a doubt as to Hughton's claim to be given a chance in the PL should we go up. 1 away win in 10 isn't good enough for a side chasing promotion. More worryingly, why is it that we only start playing when we go behind? Is Hughton setting us up to be negative from the start? Thought Carroll was excellent again today - good feet, good in the air and took his goal well. Jonas also picked up after a very average first half. Overall got to be happy with the point after being 2-0 down, but the away form is worrying in such an 'average' league. -
Pompey score 2 in 2 minutes - now winning 3-2.

Go figure. I read somewhere our games are up there in the most watched for SKY. We are pulling more viewers in for SKY than most PL games but there outlay is a hell of a lot less for our games. Sky would be bonkers not to show our games they are getting a f***ing bargain. I think we are still the most watched team outside of the top 4 (Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea) on Sky.

The group stages are an utter farce. Bring back the European Cup, Uefa Cup and Cup Winners Cup. Shame it won't happen due to the amount of money involved in the Champions League though. I'll go with that, but it'll never happen. The closed shop that is the CL is making too much money for the already too powerful bigger clubs.

Another dodgy pen for West Brom. How many is that so far this year?
