  1. Squeaky bum time approaches. I hope the players stand up and be counted tonight, and I also hope that waves of support will roll down onto the pitch from the stands. My worry is that some of the players aren't that bothered about whether we stay up or not. That much has been evident for much of the season. Got to keep the faith though. Howay the lads!
  2. Results are going for us - makes a win on Monday all the more imperative. I bet the mackems are shitting themselves now.
  3. goes without saying if we beat them in 1988. Lou Macari and ultimately the reason why Swindon were refused promotion in 89/90 (mackems went up instead)
  4. Not exactly been a good year for the likes of Sunderland and Boro - nevermind us too. Add to that, Darlington and Hartlepool struggling and it doesn't make for good reading. The North East - a hotbed of football? Probably never been further from the truth, than of recent. The only thing that us and the mackems can be proud of, is the support we enjoy in these difficult times. We know what's wrong with our club - but what's gone wrong at Sunderland and Middlesbrough too? Poor management or players being signed for inflated fees and just not being up to it (or bothered?) Fans of all three clubs have surely got a right to question whether they have been short-changed. We all know we have - it's gone on for long enough afterall.
  5. Awful performance today and one which we got fully what we deserved - nout. Midfield was woeful, despite the extra man. We are so pedestrian and predictable, that it's untrue. Kevin Nolan (yet again) barely broke sweat. Why the hell did we buy him? Shearer isn't afraid to make changes (which is a positive), but he's having to try and make a fur purse from a sow's ear. Ashley (and his cronies) have destroyed this football club and I think it unlikely that we'll win all 3 of these key home games. We've only won 4 at home all season! Too many players again, simply going through the motions. We have a cancer at the club (and have done for some years) The prognosis for me is terminal. I mean - having to rely on the likes of Owen, Duff and Nolan?
  6. Dave - they made the brave and right decision, at the right time. We showed faith in the wrong people (namely Wise) and we've paid for it. Could very well cost us our PL status.
  7. I'd seriously start Carroll ahead of Viduka. The lad has more then earned his chance, whilst the Aussie waster has been a disaster since he signed for us. 20 games in 2 years? It's a joke man - major piss take.
  8. There's no way he'd have been allowed on Soccer AM, if he wasn't well enough.
  9. I thought he looked canny. Doubtlessly, he'll be on a few meds to manage his depression. Good to see him back on form, IMO.
  10. Steve Watson, IIRC. Lee Clark is a few months older than me.
  11. Just bumping this. OP is worth a read, on such a day as this. RIP the 96.
  12. Ameobi's peformance was as poor as I've seen since Rob McDonald. Genuinely awful.
  13. Perhaps Owen was asked on who he'd rather have partner him.... I used to stick up for Ameobi, but the faith that so many managers place in him is bizarre. He's regressed so much (as a footballer) in the last 2/3 years, it's untrue. And now we are pinning our hopes on him? :-/
  14. Christ - Shola starting. I hope Shearer knows what he is doing. /o\
  15. Not feefling too good here either. Results not being too kind to us at the moment. Just got a bad feeling about this - mainly due to the lack of guts we have shown far too often this season.
  16. The injury problems that we've had not just this season, but for the past 3 or 4 really do beggar belief. Can't surely all be down to bad luck?
  17. The lack of creativity in the midfield continues to be a worry for me. We need to battle for this one - question is, have the players got the balls to do it?
  18. I also suggest Shearer looks into dropping Martins to the bench (use him as an impact player) and have Carroll up top with Owen.
  19. Full Time Disappointing, but not unexpected. We just couldn't respond when Chelsea upped it. Shearer has some tough calls to make in the next week - needs to drop Colicinni and also try to get some creativity in the middle of the park. On the plus side - Whitley Bay have made it through to the Vase final.
  20. Radio Newcastle reckon it was over the line (the disallowed goal)
  21. Nolan will be back at Bolton next season - heard it here first.
