  1. Baller this young lad. Has a big future this ahead of him.
  2. Superb win and 2nd half - just over-ran them and it's always great to beat some cockney bastards, especially Chelsea Bruno ran the show - abley supported by the excellent Miley, Gordon and Schar. Great to see some of the young'uns make their debuts too. A day to remember in lots of ways.
  3. Yup - I heard tell of him. Played up front with Michael Owen for England schools I think? Ended up heading down the drugs route., IIRC. This is the kernt who signed for the mackems and broke his leg; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Patterson_(footballer) I sometimes think back to that day and some of the grief he gave me at school. Rest assured - he wouldn't do it now. I kept on growing tall long after he stopped (I ended up 6'8)
  4. There was another lad in my year, who signed for Sunderland but broke his leg in their youth set up. Later was at Wigan and Burnley I think, but never really pushed on. He was a cock and a bully - put me on my arse once, long after the ball had gone during training after school. Bodychecked me full pelt with his shoulder - it fucking hurt. Another lad could have signed for Northampton (Graham Carr was manager at the time) - but decided to go and do an apprenticeship at Alcan, instead. Dave Walton was the only one who made it. Caught up with him on FB a couple of months ago - told me that one of his knees is pretty much shot to pieces. That's why he ultimately had to pack in. Good lad though
  5. They were al the year below me Lee Clark is the same is as me and one afternoon, his school (either Walker of Walbottle) came up to Bedlington to play my year school team in the county cup. Clark even then was a big headed tool - ran the show, with his lot 2-1 ahead at HT. However, he had to get subbed off because he was being that much of a twat with the ref, that he was gonna get sent off. In the end, my school went on to win 5-2. (I watched the game from the sidelines) A year or two later, Clarky make his full debt for Newcastle (1990) and the rest is history.
  6. My old man - I don't know much about him playing as a young'un, although I know he went in goal for his school (West Sleekburn) and he also played for the sparkies at Ashington Miners Tech back in the early 60's - dad is 6'6 so apparently went in goal! He was canny at cricket - fast bowler, turning out for Cambois, Bomarsund and Ashington for a few years before beer got in the way.
  7. One lad that was in my year turned pro and had canny career - Dave Walton, who was a centre half for Shrewsbury, Crewe and Derby back in the 90's/early-mid 2000's. Told me a few months ago that he nearly signed for Birmingham when Trevor Francis was manager- didn't come off though.
  8. Yup - I wanted to play as often as I could, be it just a kickabout on the local green as a kid, training with year school team at HS (they were all way better than me, but I loved training with them), as well as kickabouts during my Uni days, that sometimes went on for 2-3 hrs. Miss it. My best mate from Uni days, could have signed youth forms with Barnsley, but his folks told him to do his a-levels instead. He had a helluva left foot and was a canny centre-forward.
  9. Just wondering about this a wee bit earlier - how good were/are you at the beautiful game? For me, I wish I could look back on something be be proud of, but playing/managing in a inter-departmental league whilst a student, was as good as it got for me. Being really tall - I wasn't blessed with pace - couldn't head a ball to save my life - but I did have something of a fairly ok ability to pass the ball over long distances, as well as being able to cross quite well. Haven't had a kickabout in 10 years or so - having younger lads whizz past me back then, did nout for me when I had the turning circle of a super oil tanker! So - over to you - anyone have trials or maybe be on youth forms/turn pro? Or maybe semi-pro/Sunday league?
  10. Blyth drew 1-1 at home to Chorley, last night. Last minute equalizer from Nicky Deverdics.
  11. North Shields chairman jacked in?
  12. Yup - I can still see Everton avoiding the drop, despite this. Will be interesting to see in the future, if anything happens to Citeh or Chelsea. My money is on bugger all happening.
  13. Yup - fella I support pays and I get in as his carer.
  14. I'm back at work on Saturday, so we may take in North Shields v Carlisle City (if it's not rained off) Will be first Shields game in a while.
  15. Gonna have to recall Minteh probably as well as the young Aussie lad from Volendam. Gonna be either Big Jo or Gordon at centre-forward until Isak/Wilson is back.
  16. Big Geordie

    Papiss Cissé

Some coup for Savage if it comes off.
  17. Mark McGhee dribbled from just inside the Bradford half, beating about 4 or 5 players to score a last minute winner in 1989. Guess who missed it due to leaving just before?
  18. Some game that - really entertaining
  19. Good point on the road yesterday for Blyth - 1-1 at Brackley. Ashington battered Carlton 4-0 at home and I think North Shields lost 2-0 at West Auckland.
  20. It's not good enough. It's one thing having an opinion, but it's another to question the commitment of the players. He needs to lay off the charlie and the drink. Prick.
  21. Has the twat who had a go at Tripps been identified yet? Someone needs to have a word if so.
  22. Good shift from the young lad today - moved the ball around well and didn't look out of place.
  23. The bed-wetters in here can also get to fuck. Remember where we were 2 years ago- it's a marathon, not a sprint.
