Looks like Emre hasn't made it today (according to Radio Newcastle) - Butt returns, and they are also suggesting that Pattison will play left midfield. Why no Alan O'Brien ?
-
Good news. Hopefully this will put an end to the recent speculation.
-
I doubt it was planned - Parker probably had a lapse in concentration. It handed the initative straight back to the Mancs, who took advantage.
-
It was stupid of Parker, when he knows Given is having a problem with his kicking at present, due to his groin problem.

Good article - have to say. It does make you wonder about this 'curse' business. I remember Guillit saying that he felt the club was cursed, when he had his spell as boss. Whether you believe in it or not though - it's only right that the directors take the majority of the blame. They have used people's loyalty towards the club to feather their own nests for too long. It's been a money-making machine for the powers that be since the 2nd World War.

Kind of ironic (a little) that Everton fans are kicking off about this, when nufc.com's match report has made note of some monkey noises aimed at Martins from some sections of the Everton crowd.
-
True to a point, but we aren't even down to the bare bones - it's worse than that now.
-
Just heard Roeder on the radio - says defending for the goals from set pieces was not good enough - 3rd goal was typical of our luck today. He has also backed Martins after his penalty miss. Bramble and Moore are out for another month. Ramage is going to be missing for a few weeks, though the extent of his hamstring problem isn't known yet. He's again refusing to use the injury crisis as an excuse and also added that the players need to keep on fighting and if anyone thinks we will lie down in upcoming games, then they are wrong. He also commented on the Barton speculation saying that midfield isn't an area we are looking to strengthen - he is happy with the numbers. Defence and attack are priorities.
-
Sounds like we got off lightly with a 3-0 beating and it's worrying the way some of the players appeared to chuck in the towel. Where was our captain today ? No sign of him trying to encourage players - something that was picked up by the lads on Radio Newcastle. I'm very worried for Monday - Man United must be odds on to hammer us.
-
Top lad. Needs to keep on doing the business on the park though. We've had too many players in the past who are happy to provide sound bites to the media about what they are gonna do, and then not back iu up on the pitch. I hope Oba is different - he does seem to be.
-
I met him back in '94 in 'Suits You' in Eldon Square. Just so happened that I had my camera, and my ma took our picture, after he kindly agreeded. He couldn't get over the fact that I was 'a bit' taller than he is (I'm 6'8") bluecool.gif. He's still one helluva big bloke though. Absolute top class fella. If we can get him on the books as a coach, he'd be a wonderful addition to the setup.
-
Racist remark ? Should have shopped him to a steward. I'd have had no qualms about doing so had I been there. Arseholes like that shouldn't be welcome inside St James.

4-5-1 was never gonna work tonight - clearly Sibierski must have been carrying a knock, otherwise he would have started/come on earlier. Our limited options cost us tonight, but in saying that - the back 4 were excellent I feel. We have a long-term partnership in the making here, with Taylor and Ramage. They should be given a chance to develop further, even when Bramble and Moore become fit again. They are surely earning their chance ?
-
One less knacker inside the ground. I wasn't aware there had been more problems - certainly never heard any racist rubbish up in Leazes Level 7.
-
Taylor was excellent today, and Martins took his goals really well. The penalty he scored v Reading seems to have done wonders for his confidence. We may just well have a special player on our hands here..... Only disappointment was Roeder choosing to go with the diamond in midfield. It left us shorn or width and as a result, the middle of the park became too congested. At least we got the win though - very important and continues our upward momentum. blueyes.gif

Was Thierry Henry famous before he signed for Arsenal?
Big Geordie replied to Nobby's topic in Football
He actually played against us for Monaco, when we faced them during the UEFA Cup back in 96 (I think). -
Tony Cunningham - not a great footballer by any stretch of the imagination, but his effort could never be called into question. How can anyone call Scott Sellars rubbish ? He was excellent until he picked up that bad injury. Was never the same again after that.

Wednesday night wasn't just a one off from Babayaro. Since he joined us, he has more often than not looked disinterested in the cause and his performances reflect this. As I said previously, I can understand why he was booed (though I did not join in). If some of you's are willing to accept a player in the side who has little or no heart, then you get what you deserve. Coming back from injury is one thing, but a total lack of effort and committment is something else entirely.
-
Sounds like sour grapes from Coppell, IMO. No mention of our 'good goal' scored by Sibierski which was disallowed after the game, and he's continued in the same vein.
-
Charlie was off-colour tonight, but no way in the world was he as bad as Babayaro.

Newcastle United 3-2 Reading - Post Match Thoughts.

I think Sibierski was fielded in midfield for Citeh - a waste if you judge his performances for us as a striker. Their loss is our game though. He's a good, honest, hardworking pro. -
Babayaro was a disgrace tonight, and whilst I didn't boo - I can understand those who did so. Is there nothing more galling to watch a player who is paid thousands of pounds a week, run about a football pitch and not care about the team ? The lad isn't interested - he has no heart or fight and therefore should not be playing. Better to put a youth team LB in there, and then at least you'd get effort for the cause.
