That would account for 3 of them then, if they're even members. What about the rest? Did I fall asleep and miss this bit, or are you basing this on one win against the team at the bottom of the league?

He chose to pay off the debt in full rather than pay off some and invest more in the team. He is choosing to arrest the clubs losses by slashing costs rather than trying to increase profits. He chooses to pay up front for players rather than spread payments like most other clubs do, thus increasing the losses made by the club in the first years of this changed strategy, and reducing the amount available to spend on incoming players. You cannot tell me he could not put more money into the club if he wanted to, so he is chosing to gamble on our Premiership status with a small depleted squad, just like he did last year. He chose to employ the managers and directors he has which have us in the current state. He chose to put the club up for sale causing unrest and turmoil, and then not accept any of the bids. Non of this was forced on him. Non of these decisions are down to the previous board or the financial climate. They are all his chosen course of action.

qualifying for the Champions League ? Do you honestly think Shepherd was going to get us back into the Champions League? In 2001 do you regret the fact we didn't: Cut back on signings and not brought in Bellamy & Robert Sell the likes of Dyer for a good profit Let injury prone Shearer's contract run down so he could leave on a free and we could get his high wages off the bill (after all, we had a ready made replacement coming through from the youth team). Get someone like Vinnie Jones in to buy and sell players over Robson's head. If it pissed off Robson and he left, should we have replaced him with someone like Dave Basset. 1. No. 2. No. 3. No. 4. No. 5. No. PS. The year is 2009. Then you're a hypocrite for praising Mike Ashley for performing those equivalent actions by choice, not necessity, now. I applaud you for finally having the courage to admit it.

If we all stay quiet and carry on buying merchandise as normal, maybe Ashley/Llambias will start to run the club competently. If we doff our cap to them enough they may even deign to speak to us every now and again. Or maybe they'll just carry on stumbling along with promises of being dead good in 5 years time - starting from whenever they say it each time - due to spending £1m a year on youngsters for the academy with Wise & Kinnear as our Dein & Wenger.

"Doing something" is not, in itself, necessarily constructive. The people who come out with this one are invariably those who think that what they're doing is the right thing. Doing absolutely nothing will merely encourage those in control to carry on with the current way things are being run. The people who say nothing should be done, or that doing something will be harmful to the club are invariably those who are happy with the status quo. I am not particularly happy with the status quo, but what is the point of agitating without any solution? Have the NUSC actually put forward a more effective plan than Ashley's which I can get enthusiastic about? Protests rarely achieve their stated aims, however they are far more likely to force the institution they are protesting against into compromises than doing nothing would. Whats the compromise though. This is the problem people are asking for him to go but what do they want ?? They want Newcastle United to do well. Appointing a competent manager and having a net positive transfer fund might persuade some people to put up with him for a bit longer.

If you don't do what you can to object to something you disagree with, no matter how futile the gesture, you have no right to complain about the outcome. Ozzie on the other hand believes in positive action.

This thread has finally prompted me to join up. Thanks

Are they allowed to modify the original plan? If they want. Although that would be more their aims and goals, not actually changing the timescales. They probably need to do both tbh. That nonsense in the lead up to 1st September changed everything.

We had to scrap the (not) copy Arsenal plan, we've got to start again with the (not) copy <insert flavour of the month team here> plan.

It's a shame all you sensible people can't even decide whether protests are ineffectual or are to blame for everything wrong with the club.
-
The lack of protests since Hull achieved a lot didn't they. Good job everyone laid off Ashley even when he tried to provoke a reaction by turning up at games again, otherwise he might not have brought in a top class manager or significantly strengthened the squad in January. When & where's the Ashley appreciation rally for the majority of supporters btw? People in this thread seem more bothered about focussing their efforts on supporting the team at an important stage of the season than supporting Ashley. Don't let that stop you though In case you didn't realise, the rally is being held before a game and will be full of people actually going to support the team. Don't let that stop people calling them twats though

Surely no need for any of that line. Who the fuck doesn't know who he is. "Oh, there's some bloke who used to be a striker for Liverpool speaking on Thursday, I might go along to that. Mmmm pie & pea supper."

Keegan walking again I see. /Libertine

I've been looking at suggestions from an old thread. Here's one:

You're not an atypical NUFC fan though, as you've said recently. I'm talking about the regulars at games who don't frequent the likes of this place (i.e. the majority). Patronising view tbh

This is the same bloke who was going to buy the club from Ashley with his non-existent South African mates isn't it. Should have spelt the name of your business right then, attention seeking cock. "Socatots"

Not sure about Colocinni in the "Cheap, loyal and average" category. He wont be on low wages after we gave him the "contract of his life", and he threatened to leave Depo on a Webster the following season if they didn't sell him to us. I'll give you average (on a good day) though.

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
UV replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
Getting SSN to the training ground is all a smokescreen so Dennis and the worldwide scouting network can get on with the job in peace down in London. Have no fear, the system will save us, you just have to BELIEVE. PS If we sign no-one it's because YOU didn't BELIEVE hard enough. Shame on you. -
