Pretty sure that's wrong and those numbers are from 06-07 and 05-06 respectively.

At the supporter's meeting back at the end of Feb, Llambias (allegedly) said “The club makes £100M a year in revenue of which 76% goes on salaries”, so that would make a more up to date approximation of a £76m starting point.

Due to the state of the club, in order to get the accounts signed off it is more than likely that he will have signed a declaration stating that he will not call in the loan within 12 months. Sets himself up for all sorts of legal action if he does this and the club went pop Forcibly calling the loan in, and the club choosing to pay part of the loan off are two separate things though aren't they? Am I right in thinking the club owes the money to the holding company, or is it the holding company which owes the money to Ashley as a private individual?
  4. RCP Zonal marking. Aye. Coloccini's marking the twilight zone. 02:40 Corner. Coloccini's marking a different zone this time, at the back post. Allows their number 7 to go past him and runs away from the goal to a point nowhere near any opposition player leaving their player completely unmarked in front of goal set for a tap in if Shola doesn't save the day. 04:39 Free Kick. Marking a man. Ball goes over his head and his man is gone to stand completely free in front of the goal should the ball be deflected across goal or come back off the bar. Just a few from 5 minutes of highlights, but it's the same all game every game. I only wish his defence of the goal was half as determined as your defence of Coloccini.

    U23s & Academy

About 4 of them are fringe players in the first team squad who may hopefully get a game for the first team in the future, the rest are pure reserve/youth players. That can't be called a strong squad mate and if anyone's concerned they were thrashed by Leeds they need their heads examined. Hi fact fans. Last year we used 29 players. 26 played 5 or more games, 22 played 10 or more. We didn't have an especially bad year with injuries. We currently have a senior squad of 29 which includes 12 who played in that game. "You do the math". That IS what passes for a strong reserve team now, and a lot if not most of them will get first team games next season.

I seriously doubt Taylor will be going anywhere and I have a feeling Smith might stay, not sure about Jonas. Hopefully we can sell Coloccini and I'd be delighted to see Butt leave the club, also it has to be a priority to remove Geremi from the wage bill. We would then be in a position to more then cover the loss in revenue from being relegated (£25-£30m drop in wages plus 25m-30m in transfer fee's) Thing is them wanting to stay and being able to stay is the problem, if Everton do sell Lesscott hen I reckon Moyes will bid for Taylor, if we get a half decent bid for Smith Ashley will take it. Jonas, Colo and Jose will all jump at the chance to leave if one comes up, all this will happen if Ashley keeps the club he gets money in and lowers the wage bill, ideal for him. If he keeps the club his only aim will to go back up, that's the only way he can get his money back. If we're still in the Championship next year we'll be worth even less then we are now. He's not going to spend big money obviously but I don't believe he'll sell anyone we get a decent offer for either. We were going to get into the top 6 by sticking with Kinnear, selling Given & N'Zogbia and bringing in Nolan & Taylor Aye. The bloke is completely delusional. I wonder if anyone is telling him this kind of thing or whether he's just surrounded himself with yes men. No doubt what Kinnear was telling him. I can't see O'bleary telling him he can sell everyone and still get promotion. He might be a crappyish manager but he's not insane. He'll fail the interview then wont he.
  7. it's on i-player. search "the football league show" 4mins 50 aprox. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8192062.stm Replay of the goal at 02:08 Free kick about to come into the box and Coloccini is stood in space, marking no-one, watching no-one. Goalscorer runs from beside Nolan(?) towards Coloccini, all the way around the front of Coloccini, and stands in and around the goal area waiting for a loose ball while our central defender is stood stock still in the same spot he was when the freekick was delivered, just ball watching. Maybe not to blame for the goal this time, but certainly doing f*** all to prevent one. Time and time again, he's either nowhere near the action, or once someone's gone past him he makes absolutely no attempt to recover, pick someone else up, or get in a position to pick up a loose ball. as you say the attacker comes from behind him. as the ball drops he stands still...as does everyone else. he's only as much to blame as everyone else. possible less so than the 3 defenders closer to the ball and whoever let the attcaker go free. It's not like he snuck in behind him, he runs all the way around him like he was a traffic cone in training. Coloccini just lets him run into the box, then goes back to ball watching. I think it was Nolan who "let the attacker go free", but if he'd followed him he'd have run into the back of Coloccini - maybe he thought "it's okay, my Argentine international colleague will have him in his pocket now". Nolan at least then gets to the goal line in a position to try and put a block in or kick away a loose ball.

Or it could be that Moat doesn't have £25m to put down immediately and Ashley is using that figure to tell him to f*** off basically. Yes but in this article they claim that he hs already proven that he has the funds, the question is will he spind it? I think the only question is will anyone give Ashley the price he is looking for? I doubt it and all this has just been a waste of time if that's the case. it already seems quite obvious he wont get the 100mill originally quoted so it could well be just haggling to find a price both parties can agree on. If the sale goes through then that will prove to be true. If it doesn't you'd have to question why Ashley put the club on the market in the first place rather than just get on with running the club in a fit and proper manner. because he put a price on it he thought he could get. as times moved on he's had to adjust it. naturally when you are selling something there'll be a price below which you wont go. if that about giving money to lawyers is true it does seem like a put up or shut up and could be the beginning of the end of this whole sorry mess. But no one asked him to put the club up for sale in the first place. Even Freddie Shepherd didn't advertise the club or stop running it properly in the hope of selling it and he's considered thick by most here. i thought plenty asked him to put the place up for sale. while he's been running it its been losing money. seems like he's hit a point where he's just said enough is enough. outside of not appointing a manager he's stil been running things thats meant his hand in his pocket. I thought no-one had since he said "2009 will be the year in which we drive the Club forward together" and "I gave you my word that as long as I remain owner, this Club would continue to be run responsibly at all levels." Has he fuck been running things, things have been left to run themselves (down). No-one's receiving any kind of direction from the top. Plus at this time of year the club will have already received a large part of it's annual income (last year's TV revenue and this year's season tickets), so money is only coming out of his pocket now if he's used that to reduce the loan to himself rather than the overdraft and was intending to sell the club without that income in the accounts. I don't think we'll be sold this year myself, but if we are, it's already a black mark in the books of the new owners from me for being part of the fiasco that's allowed it to drag on so long and all but kill any chance we had of going back up next year by preparing properly for this season. If it does turn out that there have been any serious bidders they should have put a deadline on Ashley selling them the club of at least a month ago.

I think that's unfair tbh. It's my understanding that the players do loads of work in the community that goes completely unpublished in papers like the Mirror (unless one of them does something wrong while doing it of course).

Getting a 1-1 draw away from home first game of the season against the title favourites. Going to be a great season this!! Oh, wai... IMO we simply don't have the squad to be able to cope with the injuries we will inevitably get, especially in defence. Plus I don't think there's enough goals in the team to be able to compensate for Coloccini even if we do have good luck with injuries. An outside chance of the playoffs at best for me, and even then I don't think we'd win them.

Depends on the terms, it may be much more attractive than having to borrow it from elsewhere. Again, I don't think this would automatically attract chancers who only have £20m - that's not something to worry about IMO. Anyone interested will probably still have to prove to SP they can theoretically afford the full thing. If you have the dosh, just pay it off and get rid of him otherwise he will still be hanging round the club like a bad smell. I don't care if Ashley is owed money as long as he's not in control of the club anymore. Being able to pay £20m up front and owe £80m by a set date (say 4 years) is like getting a £80m interest free loan. They can then use some of that 80m to finances what they want to do with the club instead of potentially having to go to the banks and lumber us with millions of pounds in interest payments. What makes you think it will be interest free? The club was days away from administration in the Premiership with a £70m debt according to Mort/Ashley/Llambias. How are we going to survive with a £120m debt in the Championship? Because their track record for telling the truth has always been spot on I was being facetious (some people actually believe it you know). Seriously though, having a debt of that size is one thing in the Premier League, it's another thing altogether in the Championship. Interest repayments would be a massive millstone around the club's neck and negate any advantage we had due to our initially larger attendances over the other teams in the division. If we didn't get promoted within a few years, and attendances dwindle as they would, we really would be in serious trouble of going into administration.

Praise the lord we're freed from being a mid table Premiership club with £70m debt, now we can move onwards and upwards as a Championship club rapidly losing any decent players with £120m debt (80 to Ashley + 40 overdraft)

  17. Time to reset the poll with the current press speculation on price haggling and reports Ashley might not sell if he doesn't get his £100m? Probably need to modify the options though. As a comparison with another Championship club at the time with similar size and potential to us, a Google search tells me that: Quinn and his associates are prepared to invest up to £16 million to secure all of the club’s shares, and take over the management of the club’s £35-40million debt. Sunderland had a similar debt to our current overdraft, however they were not set to lose around £30m in the first year they were bought.
  18. He's getting £100m if/when, this is not going in his back pocket cos it doesnt change that figure Except that the club is in debt to him, so it's just as likely that he'll use this incoming money to pay down his loan. It really isn't, the money will go into Newcastle United's accounts, not to Ashley. Is the club somehow not allowed to pay off loans like?

Have you just noticed? Btw Llambias (or whoever is feeding Craig) will tell him anything that fits their agenda. Means nothing. Correct, in fact I think it is probable that Llambias will have woken up this morning in a 'cold sweat' when he realised that this was being talked about in the media - he would be sh***ing himself that it had leaked and that the (nearly done) deal might now break down because of it. Especially as HE was probably the one who leaked it! So, this morning he contacted his monkey and leaked this latest bit of David Craig cr*p to him. (Thats my theory on todays event, anyway!) Why would a multi-million pound deal break down because of press speculation? Why would it all be back on again because of a counter-leak? Makes no sense.

The Moat bid has been ditched. It's dead in the water. Time to man the battlements and pull up the drawbridge for Ashley I think.

    RIP sale thread.

I still believe that though this is probably a genuine bid, it's being propped up to scare another bidder into moving quicker and/or offering more. No-one's going to be significantly upping their bid at this stage. There are no super rich sugar daddies amongst the bidders or a deal would have been done by now. Anyone still interested is in a consortium and counting the pennies. They will know that if they were nowhere near any other offers they would have been told to fuck off. If it were me I'd tell Ashley my offer reduces by £1m every day it's not accepted. If he doesn't take it, I'd let him carry the costs of this season and put in the same or reduced offer next year. If he does sell to someone else then I'd just go to them and offer to join forces with them after they've bought it from Ashley so the money goes into the club, not to reduce Ashley's losses.
