    Sold? Not Yet

    26.7% of £140m = £20m ? Shepherd has around 37m shares @ 93p each that's about £34.4m The numbers in this article don't add up.

    Inter-Toto

They tried to book one, but they couldn't fit a Stannah stair lift in it in time.
  3. http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,80011075,00.html Jesus, I can't believe the Fat Fuck has embarrassed us again. The world must be pissing themselves laughing at us knowing we have a chairman who uses his LEFT hand to scratch his nose.
  4. You've completely missed the point! (Again!) This is another example of Shepherd voicing his small minded parochialism. Shepherd seems to believe that Geordies are a sort of super race much like Hitler believed that a pure German Aryan race would one day rule the world. He's on record saying that ideally he'd want a team of Geordies managed by a Geordie manager. It's utterly pathetic and continues to make NUFC a laughing stock! Ah, it's all starting to make sense now. http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/9195/shearerpj6.jpg Heil Shepherd
  5. Well you've convinced me. They weren't being racist at all, they were merely complementing the Blackburn fans on living in a multi-cultural environment. Yeah sure - and shouting "Paki" is worse than marching through London demanding ALL Danes to be beheaded, and praising the 7/7 bombers etc etc etc. It appeared the police thought so too - they arrested ONLY people shouting abuse at the bigots. Clearly a similar mind set to some on here..... So who in the crowd at that game - which is the only situation we are discussing - should we really be having a go at if we weren't all so PC?:roll::roll: By your logic we shouldn't arrest burglars because armed robbery is more serious. I guess you also think we shouldn't criticise the board because there are worse run clubs out there?
  6. Chairman complements manager and players. Disgraceful!

  8. The chant (that i don't personally indulge in ) is just an attempt to wind up the oppo. As long people get wound up about other people will continue to do it. Ignore it and don't show that it is causing offence and it defeats the object of them doing it in the first place. The (Indian) owner of my local newsagent quite happily uses the term "f***ing Paki Bastards" to describe the owner of the off licence around the corner and quite openly hates them. Couldn't really give a shit myself, as long they are hard working, law abiding and aren't blowing up tube trains, buses and airplanes i don't care whether someone is black, white, brown, pink or yellow. Nail on head. At the end of the day its a chant sang at a football match by a very small number of people. Get over it and move on. Missed the nail and hit your thumb more like. Who exactly is supposed to be being wound up by this chant of "You're just a town full of Pakis"? I'd be surprised if more than 1 or 2% of the Blackburn crowd were actually Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, etc. Any non-asian racists in the crowd would be sat there nodding and tutting in agreement. The people you're "winding up" are predominantly white non-racists, people who aren't bothered that you think their town is "full of Pakis" or think that that would be anything to be ashamed of, but go away with the perception that the North East is full of ignorant racist bigots. For fucks sake, they can only get 16000 for a 3PM Saturday kick off and live in a shithole. There's plenty of scope for abuse without resorting to racism. By the way, the argument about whether or not "Paki" is a racist term is irrelevant in this context and just a red herring. "You're just a town full of people of South Asian or Indian Subcontinent origin" would be just as racist in this situation when meant as a slur on the area.
  9. Exactly the point though. In all those cases the thing you're associating the opposition supporters with is a negative stereotype, ie: thieving scroungers = bad being poor = bad Sheep Shaggers = bad Child molsters / Chemicals = bad Therefore by extension, "Town full of Pakis" = bad. So you're basically saying being a Pakistani is a bad thing. Whether intentionally or through ignorance, that's racism.

Oh Sibi's the best, better than all the rest. Better than anyone, anyone could've ever guessed.

    G14 and FIFA

I don't see how it is against the employment law, as a club is still free to employ as many foreigners as it likes. This is just a restriction on the number who can play in any game. If equality laws are enforced on the game itself, then there's no reason why women couldn't play in any team, and conversely you wouldn't be able to stop men playing in a womens league.
  12. Their league starts mid-March doesn't it? Wont be well prepared for the next couple of rounds at least.

    9 points behind 3 place

Too right. Last season we only got to 7th because of the good work done by Souness in the first half of the season.
  14. Sacking a manager based on the result of one game is idiotic. There are many things that can affect the outcome of a single game including plain old luck. It should be done on a much more scientific basis like the actim stats for players are done. Something like: possession % * shots on target / (opposition corners + goals) < 30 - Sack him now < 50 - Sack him after christmas <100 - Keep him on until the end of the season >= 100 - Give him a 10 year contract PS Could you please explain what a real "unbeaten run" is so I don't get it mixed up with a "so called" one again. Cheers.

    Best fans in the world.

http://stats.football365.co.uk/dom/ENG/PR/attend.html Villa's has to be the worst - new chairman, new manager, higher in the league than they've been in years, and they only get 80% capacity. Pathetic really.
  16. It's only a degree from the poly though, they're not worth the paper they're written on anyway. It's not like it's from a real university or anything.

I think it's because we played in the UEFA on Thursday & Chelsea play in the CL on Tuesday.

    guess the club

I wonder how many Wimbledon fans in 1997 were saying "I can't wait till we get rid of 'Sam the Sham', anyone who takes over the club now must do better than that useless git"? :winking:
  21. Ah, okay. Not ideal, but nothing major IMO. Am I right in thinking though that if there were a takeover the club would be almost certainly taken off the stock market and would not be required to publish accounts or be accountable to the same code of practice (ie they could do what they like without critisism).
  22. ^^ Excellent, well balanced post. Just some comments on your numerated points. 1. The profits could be higher simply by allowing less to be spent on transfers. In the context of the football club, is it right to punish the sharehodlers (reduce dividends) because more money is being put back into the business to try to make it successful? If this were done would the shareholders not have a right to demand that the transfer money/wages were reduced, ie lower the club's ambitions? 2 & 3. Is there evidence of none compliance & misreporting in the accounts? I've not heard that accusation before and would be interested to know more.
  23. Fair enough. I guess I should have guessed before by the fact that you want the club to be taken over by someone (anyone) who will take the club off the stock market and make the club’s finances totally opaque that you were a supporter of self-serving and unaccountable governments. What will you do with your spare time though, and what will happen to: when you have no financial information to misrepresent simplify for others?
  24. before 1991 the US had never had a president who got them into Arab lands. Since then they have been there more often than any other country. Which other country had given its troops the opportunity to compete abroad the way them Bush's have ? Where were you when those other presidents presided over the embarrassments of previous decades. Were you there ? Did you live through incompetent presidents. I did, I know how it was, you have no idea unless you were there. Well listen to me, this president is far better than any that have gone before. The Bush's have always backed their troops. Okay the last appointment of Rumsfeld didn't work out, but who at the time argues against it ? Did you. Don't remember you saying anything ? So Bush is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. You might want a new president but how do you know the next one would be any better ? How do you know that a new guy, or even woman, would be able to do any better than Bush ? I would rather stick with Bush who clearly knows how to back his troops into body bags than gamble on some unknown. I’m not sure I get the point of this analogy. Let me try. The analogy is Bush = Shepherd & troops in Arab Lands = NUFC in Europe. You are parodying someone arguing that Bush is good because he gets troops in Arab Lands (ie Shepherd is good because he gets NUFC in Europe). The person you are parodying suggests that a different president would not be better because he would not necessarily get troops into wars as much. Your stance IRL is that you think a new chairman would be better for the club, ie get into Europe more. Translating this into your analogy you want a more warmongering president for the USA, someone like Hitler say? Is that it? Did I get it? You're a warmongering fascist?
