Both right footed midfielders. But both have played there. However... ...Curtis Good isn't. Naturally left footed, and can play left back according to Pards. Why keep shoe-horning players out of their natural position? Wouldn't it be better to have a left sided version of Tavernier? He is a left sided, left footed version of Tavernier. Different styles, but both are seen by the club as primarily centre backs that can play out wide. I don't claim to know much about Good, just going on what Pardew himself said about the lad, and he says he can play there.

Spent 9 million on a striker in january. Closer to £11m at the current exchange rate. How? Fair question. I use these lads for transfer fees and they tend to start with the figure in Euros. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/premier-league/transferuebersicht/wettbewerb_GB1.html

Who on earth would argue otherwise? The squidgers demanding we BUY BUY BUY without knowing the full facts.

Lille chairman Michel Seydoux claims failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage would not force the club to part with Mathieu Debuchy. Were they to drop out of Europe's premier club competition on Wednesday, interest in Debuchy is likely to intensify. Seydoux, though, maintains that he will not be forced into a sale and remains optimistic regarding Lille's chances of turning the Copenhagen tie around. He told L'Equipe: "If we fail to qualify for the Champions League would I be forced to accept Newcastle's proposal? You know that I am not very flexible when it comes to business. "We didn't show enough fighting spirit during the first leg in Denmark but I feel we found that last Saturday against Nice (in a 2-2 draw)." Sky Sports

Oooooooooooh! /Not going to happen.
-
We dropped our interest in Debuchy as soon as Simpson made it clear he would turn down the few offers on the table for him and would stay. Any further press pieces about upping bids etc was just media guff to keep the stories on one of the few actual targets they knew we had an interest in alive.

Not a fucking chance.
