Tbf it's been ours for 2 decades.

They're about £200m away from a team capable of staying in the premiership. That's a big gap to catch up, especially when they're downgrading ownership finances and will have lost their PP advantage. The 3 teams which go down every year from the premiership will be too much for them to compete against, especially if some stay down there such as villa this season. Unless the new consortium has a huge amount of money and ambition or thry score lucky with some academy prospects I just can't see them coming back to the Premier in a long long time, and even if thry do it'll be a quick visit. It may be a case of being a yo yo club for a few years and using that financial advantage each time to keep building. Burnley being a good example, especially sticking with the manager. I'm still thinking Short has his claws in the club and will do for a long time. They will no doubt be paying him a decent wedge should thry return to the top flight.
-
That will be going down well. So despite in that time them having their best run for decades, and us having one of our worst, we're still bring in way over twice as much money on match days than thry do.

Real shame. On paper a good fit for us, him and Rafa.
-
Muppet. Probably finished in England now.
-
How does ffp work with this? Surely theyre in debt due to overspending but now receive a huge payment to cancel that out from the current owner.
-
Utter lunacy from Short. Why not hoy £15m at them at the start of the season and he’d have a championship club to try and sell.
-
Been told it is and this is a direct result.

Good job we're safe.

i have a feeling even ashley might not be pig headed enough to fuck this up, if he just lets rafa get rafaing the value of the club continues to increase as does the exposure to his tat empire until such time as some mug comes along and pays over the odds to take it off him it's win win for him if he just keeps things steady Rafa is key to stabilising the club in the Premiership and moving it forward, he's also key to the most serious offer of a club sale we've had since Ashley took the helm. So really, either way Ashley needs to keep Rafa on board, even if it costs him more than he'd like in wages, more than he's like in say of transfers but what he won't budge on is putting money in to the club. Its all down to being able to spend what we've earned, if Rafa doesn't have a problem with that then there is no reason this doesn't go well for us all.

IMO : New contract till 2021 No increase in wages, maybe a few bonuses Undisclosed transfer funds for this summer and beyond (but good enough for him to re-sign) Done by the end of May.

Conceding 80 goals in the championship ffs

Fulham’s customers are absolutely lifting.

According to odds there’s more chance of a Mitro hat trick than Sunderland winning. Know he’ll score but odds are tragic.

that's slimani who was nearly £30m in two years ago money, he's a £50m equivalent buy now say we're not paying £50m for a striker under any circumstances with ashley that's the issue in a nutshell, if rafa rates him slimani is a no brainer for me How the fuck has 2 seasons on Leicester's bench increased his value by £20mill? no i mean rafa scouted him so he's the calibre of player rafa wants...2 years ago he cost £30m nearly, in today's money his equivalent will be £50m or whatever not him again as others have just said, why do you care what we pay or what we can sell him for? odd mindset Football is a business and if you don't treat player recruitment as such you'll end up like Sunderland. Sometimes though it's worth it. Is he worth it?

Now we're safe he's playing shit to lower his fee. Good lad.

Selective memory that lot man. Calling people nonces despite openly worshipping one. The gravy joke despite having the country's fattest school kids and highest hospital admittance rates for obesity. It's like the scruffy little town has been brainwashed. Watch this 3rd division season and two in a row be removed from their history That insinuates that you think it will be a singular season. They’ll be down there for a few seasons imo. Aye. I think unless someone comes in to buy the club this summer, they will spend a few years down there ruling out anyone of note buying them. They’ll end up being bought by O’Briens or someone who won’t have the money to invest to get them back into the big time so it will be more years in the wilderness. They’ll become a family friendly club, owned by locals, full of younger payers, hard working players. But when they lose to a Halifax in a play off semi the fans will turn against the local owners forcing them to put them into administration having used all their family business money to stem the tide. On RTG there will be threads about getting Ellis back or Quinny who by that time will be in a care home. They’ll be harping on about Bally as manager with sewper Kev as number 2. There will also be threads talking about how AJ even at 40 + could still do a job after tearing it up in Cambodia. Meanwhile Rafa will be looking to add more silverware to his CV as Toons manger. I really struggle to see who’ll buy them apart from someone with an attachement to them. If you had the money you could buy one of a whole host of other clubs in a much better position. How much would Forest, one of the Sheffield’s, Leeds, Ipswich, Norwich and the likes cost? Can’t be far off the debt Sunderland already have. That and losing £20m a year, you’d be made to go anywhere near. Wait till administration, see debts wiped and big earners gone or one year closer to gone, then pick it up for peanuts. Not even asset strippers will be interested, they’ve none to strip.

I know you dislike Staveley but this is all total bollocks. I hope she still buys the club, doubt it though, it was never as serious as we were led to believe. Don’t see what’s wrong with saying our squad is worth more now than when the takeover was supposed to be happening. Even the likes of Dummetts value will have rocketed. What about shelvey? Lejuene? Diame? Like it or not the club is worth more now than then. You didn’t say squad though, you hoyed in a couple of horrific examples and I would never have suggested it wasn’t worth more. I don’t think many would. So it’s not total bollocks then? Just I didn’t go listing all the players I thought had improved. Think you were a bit too eager to jump on my post. Standard stuff.
