  1. Everton are such a one dimensional team, but the sort you can't deal with.
  2. Name is too long and complicated for my liking.
  3. Nope they extend the transfer window if there is a weekend on the last two days of January or August. They don't work weekends or bank holidays.
  4. Don't think he can sign today because it is a bank holiday. We can do everything but no one at the FA will process the paperwork.
  5. I voted for Nolan. The man's contribution to the club should never be forgotten. Without him only Woodgate and Bassong would make the vote list. As a captain, he dragged us back into the league, kept us up and was a key component in allowing us to sell Carroll for 35m. That alone is worth hundredmillion pounds to us and enabled us to see the best of others already at the club whilst bringing other new top quality players in. For where we were at when he played for us, his performances were of a top level, and when we looked to progress beyond his limits he did not outstay his welcome. I hope the history books look kinder on Nolan than the average present day fan for his contribution to this football club was a huge success eclipsing the contribution of the more talented players on this list.
  6. For people saying the money is the issue and not the knee, the knee itself requires huge financial investment. The purpose of a medical is to establish insurance premiums. A failed medical is when a club either consider the player is too high risk for the clubs ambitions, or if the insurance premiums push the transfer fee up. Clubs can probably choose a level of cover, from the bare minimum, to covering the whole transfer fee, wage, and agent fee package. Insurance models are complicated but ultimately the payments a club make will be a percentage of their level of cover. We don't know Ba's premiums, but we know that with his knee it is high risk and therefore insurers will charge a high premium to cover their risk. Picking a random premium, say 40 pence per pound cover, insurance is 5 million for the transfer and agent fees, plus an additiona. 25k per week on a 60k wage!
  7. This is what I was telling people would happen all summer. A 7.5 million transfer will cost the buyer at least 20 million because of agent and insurance fees. A bargain suddenly looks a serious risky punt. This is why he has clauses in his contract, but ultimately is only good value on a free. He is a great player, but a mercenary one.
  8. Too many good teenagers are ruined by too many games or too many expectations. We should not be looking for him to be first choice for at least another two seasons in my opinion.
  9. I really want Pardew to succeed in turning things around, if he does not include foresee years of instability and a line of managers who are not cut up for the job and/or likely to fall out over club spending. Investing in Pardew now to increase his chance of turning all around is probably going to be the most cost effective Option too. So we need to stick with him, stay up and build our hopes up for next year. If Pardew goes so must Llambias as the club needs to find a new way to operate.
  10. He is growing on me, although he is a very low tempo player which doesn't suit him against all opposition.
  11. Disagree with Dave, we've been excellent all game with exception of defending counterattacks. 60/40 possession and twice as many touches in Arsenals half than they have had in ours.
  12. He's incredible for a teenage holding midfielder. His weakness is his over-enthusiasm with some of his passes really. Is it set in stone that he's going to play international football for Berundi? Because if not the English FA need to take a good look at him as he is a potential cornerstone for a top quality midfield IMO.
  13. Anita and Marveaux on the bench to be honest. Perch and Tiote as holding midfielders. Cabaye and Ben Arfa as attacking midfielders with both assigned a wing for defensive duties. Ba as a deep lying striker, Cisse up top.

    James Perch

    Officially he is Nigerian now
  15. I just shat out my christmas dinner all over my christmas presents.
  16. Perch should be starting central midfield every game. With the others playing for the right to play with Perch
  17. Because of the knee and insurance issue, £7.5m will be Ba's maximum market value. He will never go for any more. His clause is there for a simple reason he wants to maximise his earnings and or career opportunities knowing his career could end at any time. His release clause is too low for us based on how good he is, but very high for others based on the risk involved. Unless he gets a stupid offer he will always want an escape route so the clause is near impossible to remove in my opinion.

    Alan Pardew

This is really his test now. When a proper slump kicked in at west Ham he lost his job. I don't think he has ever reversed a mojor worrying slump. However turn this around and I think he will improve as a manager, which will be good for us long term. I really don't understand the stick he is getting when you consider our past managers and the current alternatives.
  19. I don't think he is much cop myself. Maybe with games he will improve but he's just too slow and anonymous. I much prefer Sammy, Ferguson and Obertan.
  20. I would change expectations for the season. Write the season off as transitional in the league. Try to get a cup run going. Give a bit more game time to Ferguson, Sammy, Bigirimana, Amalfitano, Good, Tavernier, Vuckic (if fit) and Campbell, see if it helps strengthen us for future seasons. Experiment a bit, try to find a magic formula. Try to win every game but don't stress out when we are only mid table.
  21. Because the NUFC official twitter said it was four four two? Because the NUFC official twit is allowed into team tactic meetings?
  22. Why are we jumping to 442 conclusions? Can easily be 433 or switched to 433 mid-game.

    Papiss Cissé

We should be asking the PL if we can postpone the game to challenge this in the courts. Threaten legal action for loss of earnings against the PL if we don't win and the courts vindicate our position.
