  1. I think there is a case to say that the football leagues should become involved with the likes of Carroll and Barton to develop punishments that are equal for all clubs and all players without the worry that other clubs may take a softer line, or take advantage by signing players you've sacked.
  2. Whether the media make more money out of us in the Premier League, or us in the Championship will decide how hated we are next season.

    PROMOTIONOMETER

Apart from West Brom, are there any teams that believe that they can beat us to the League Title? No. Although not mathematically promoted, our lead is insurmountable. We are going up, but as Champions or Runners Up?
  4. Is worth pointing out that the decline in team spirit to 2003 seems to be the inverse of the rise of Steven Taylor's status at the club. Just a thought.
  5. There must be ways to punish players for their demeanours that actually mean something, stop it happenning again, and act as a deterrent to future players, while not removing good players from the team. For instance, if it was true regarding the texting issue, and I was Hughton, I'd confiscate Taylor and Carroll's phone, confiscate their car keys, make them live with myself and Colin Calderwood until the end of the season and ban them from seeing any wives/girlfriends.

    Tamas Kadar

Allardyce bought him in on trial but got sacked. Kadar was still here, but clearly someone else got the deal done.
  7. The England manager does not raise his hat in order to greet people. His assistant has hair.
  8. Will have been massively demoralising for our rivals watching that.
  9. i'm suprised people have Albert as the lowest. as I see it, he'd have attributes that would be highly desirable to a club like Barcelona.
  10. Don't worry about age, at their best is fine.
  11. I reckon if Beardsley was playing today he'd be in the world's top 5. His technique, pace, his endless running and determination to chase down every ball makes him exceptional. £40m in my opinion. Kevin Keegan is a bit before my time, so hard to say. European Player of the Year must mean something though? Gazza was good enough to be highly desired by the cream of Europe. Same for Shearer. £30m each. Waddler would probably be £15m. Ginola £12m. Ferdinand would get a good price in the PL, probably £15m. Rob Lee would be about Barry level, £17m. Gary Speed, not too much different from what we paid, £7m. Finally, Albert could bring the ball out of defence breathtakingly. Plus he was a rock solid defender. I could see him fetching £30m from the Spanish leagues if he was around today.
  12. If these NUFC players were playing today and at their best, how much would other clubs be willing to pay? Peter Beardsley Kevin Keegan Paul Gascoigne Chris Waddle Phillipe Albert David Ginola Les Ferdinand Alan Shearer Rob Lee Gary Speed
  13. One of the key tests will be how well Routledge, Simpson and Williamson turn out. And we must get a striker as we can't just rely on Carroll and Lovenkrands.
  14. I like the look of Tom Cleverley, a one season loan at a promoted PL Club looks like the next logical step for him.
  15. You see, if I go and buy HD and BluRay and 3D and 5D and 360 degrees 3D panoramic, in twenty years time I won't be able to afford walk-in TV, where you can walk into the screen and interact with the actresses. That is what I'm saving up for.
  16. Well sales over time with a few choice retentions below would have got the pot to £45m Given Harper Krul Bramble Taylor N'Zogbia Milner Butt Bowyer Owen Ameobi Also I would buy and sell Bassong to give £53m. These players would make a good bunch to have in the squad, but first team would need drastic improvement. As per usual, goalkeepers are fine, but the defence needs some sorting. First, Harry-Norway needs listening to. In comes Brede Hangeland for £2m Jose Enrique, Habib Beye, and Abdoulaye Faye were all good choices for us, and cost a combined £10m Finding an additional full back or two is harder, but Chimbonda at £4.5m and Warnock at £2.5m do the job. Next up is midfield. We have decent wide players in need of some back-up. Zoltan Gera on a free transfer is an obvious choice. Also Clint Dempsey at £2m. So that is £21m with £32m left. We'd need 3 strikers. Jermaine Defoe - £6m Emile Heskey - £5.5m Roque Santa Cruz - £3.5m That leaves us with £17m Time for some big money. In ahead of West Ham for Mascherano at £12m. Niko Kranjcar £2.5m. And with just a cople of million left and lack of inspiration, Guthrie and Lovenkrands for £2m. It is scary really what we spent on cack, when we could and should have been so much wiser.
  17. Why not just leave it, if people don't like it will drop to the bottom and be forgotten about. It isn't offensive is it?
  18. It was Andy that did that. I'm completely innocent there.
  19. OK, this thread will either fall flat on its arse or pretty interesting, but is worth a try so be nice You are Glenn Roeder. It is 2006. Alan Shearer has just had his testimonial. You've had a bit to drink and fall into a deep sleep. In your sleep, you dream about the next 3 and a half years. You see whats gone wrong at Newcastle, and you see all the transfers that happen at other clubs. Then you wake up. The challenge, is to use that knowledge from your 'dream' to produce the best 2010 team possible using a transfer pot of £15m (approximate net spend pre-relegation) You can only buy players for the fee they were bought for by a club since Summer 2006. Plus you have to realistically justify that player signing for a UEFA Cup level club. Additionally, you can only sell players for the exact fee you sold them. The squad is: Given Harper Krul Carr Babayaro Bramble Taylor Moore Boumsong Ramage Huntington Elliott Solano N'Zogbia Dyer Parker Emre Patisson Butt Faye Clark O'Brien Bowyer Owen Luque Ameobi Chopra
  20. Obviously we'd prefer to be in the Champions League ourselves due to the money and the prestige, but which tournament is more of a spectacle? I prefer the UEFA Cup personally, more attacking games, worser defences, random teams, random moments and hard to predict.
