Even the likes of Mourinho got broken eventually with run-ins with the British press, and Kinnear is no Special One.

Say we hit the jackpot with our new ownership and had someone who wanted to bankroll the club, I'm not too sure that we could persuade a top top manager to come here at this stage of things, and any half decent manager from abroad may find it difficult to settle into the team in it's current state. In that case, I'd seriously look at Steve Bruce. He isn't the complete manager, but he is a good manager, and has proven that he has the eye for a good player, and can make good players from home and abroad want to play for him. He'd settle the team towards midtable in the first season (this season) by getting the best out of Owen, Colo and Gutierrez, and then with some genuinely decent money, I could see him getting similarly good performances out of quality new players. He may not get the club punching above a certain level, but if he doesn't he'd make an excellent medium ter interim (ie 2-3 seasons) for the next guy.

One week into the job and Kinnear is already fucking things up, for himself more than anything. He is on a short term contract. He can shout and moan and issue threats as much as he wants to, but the weakness of his own position gives no-one the motivation to respond to that. Basically with the owner's leaving, Kinnear needs to win the hearts and minds of three parties. The players. The only way he can get the players motivated to perform is by using a soft approach and winning their friendship and respect. This way, he may get some results to put on his CV. The fans. Results on the pitch and his passion are what are needed here. If he wants a shot at being kept on by the new owners, he has to get the players playing, and in turn win the fans over. The press. At the end of the day, love them or hate them, the media will be writing Joe Kinnear's epitaph when the takeover happens, and they will have a huge bearing over the reputation of Joe Kinnear, be it in the eyes of the new ownership, or perhaps of a club looking for a new manager in the future. I don't like his public manner, and I don't like his witterings about foreign players and the crazy gang. All this has created the impression for me that Kinnear is an old relic who should never be allowed near a football club on a long term basis. Good luck with his short term running of the club, but even if he wins every game he'd never get my backing long term. Kinnear in January would be one of the biggest disasters in club history.

It's where you say that any new owner will take debts in to account and not buy the club if it is going to hinder them. I get your initial point, but the discussion had appeared to move on from that.

OK. The main points: Does NUSC join Supporters Direct, which can offer government funding. The problem being that Supporters Direct requires that groups who want funding aspire for representation on their club's board. There's still a bit of debate as to whether NUSC is to aspire to that or not. Nothing has been ruled out though. Honorary Memeberships: Several names discussed. Some people unsure about awarding them to KK and Shearer as it might be something the media can have a go at us for. SBR to be awarded Membership no.1 An NUSC Bank account is to be set up A secretary has been appointed as have people to undertake admin and extra press contacts. Merchandising will be looked into, what sort of stuff would be feasible. There have been no decisions made as yet. It's at an exploring/researching stage. What will membership fees be used for? At the minute, it's pretty much to get the thing up and running and for printing costs etc But it's going to be looked into how the money could be used, and what members can be offered in return. This will be displayed in the website. Again, on going protests - more leaflets/newsletters, demos etc. The possibility of contacting sponsors at NUFC will be looked at to see if they (or at least some) will support us. Ashley's business management (which has been lambasted in business/econnomic circles) will be highlighted. I should say that a lot of the stuff is looking at what could be done, and having people investigate further and report back their findings. I reckon that all those hidden costs (wages, installments etc) would curtail the spending of Chris 'We need another £50m' Nathaniel's Nigerian consortium and anyone else coming into the club on a similar premise. I believe that unless someone with a bottomless pit comes in, it is a choice between racking up debt, or spending to a level that will not satisfy the majority of supporters. But they're not hidden now are they? Nor would they be hidden from a thorough financial audit prior to completion of any sale. If there are a shitload of outstanding debts to be paid etc, surely any bidder would simply take this into account, therefore allowing for it in any spending plans they may have? That's what Ashley singularly failed to do. That is making assumptions though. The assumption being that owners will want to come here with the belief that the best strategy is to spend big, or at least better than Ashley has done. What if the purchaser is more interested in the status of owning us, or wants to create a feeder club for their national team, or like Ashley believes in a buy young a cheap, sell more expensively policy? Only one type of owner will happily accommodate those installments in their business plans in a way that will satisfy their plans, and for every one of those there are many more that would be willing to take such a hindrance on.

I'm sick of hearing about the debts and shit he didn't know about tbh. If I buy a car without checking the thing and later find out it needs a shedload of work doing to it that's nobody's fault but my own. As far as I see it, it is going to be a problem for whoever comes in whether they knew about it or not. If you expect anyone to come in and not find their efforts hampered by that situation, you better fucking pray that they have the same bottomless resources of Abramovich.
