  1. Mort's criteria: Deschamps satisfies what is bold But anything unboldened is questionable. So it can be questioned that he is a manager of style over substance, who may not want this job, and can't guarantee results. Beggars can't be chossers however.
  2. Unfortunately, Moncur's viewpoint often reflects reality within the terraces.
  3. Hmm, I was warming to the mixture of the organisational and technical expertise of Houllier combined with the iconic leadership and attacking instinct of Shearer. Deschamps falls short in comparison. Unsure Deschamps would meet the criteria set out by Mort, in particular the bit about nurturing young talent.
  4. Lyon also seems to have brought in some quality Brazilian players over the years. Perhaps Houllier could tap into Lyon's contacts in order to get some of those quality players here.
  5. The best ITKs in Newcastle must be telephone repairmen.
  6. This quote from Roeder last night has already been posted, but I recommend that people reread it and also consider the fact that Roeder is one of Houllier's biggest mates in the English game:
  7. Nothing really jumps off the page at you. All the boldened players would have improved Newcastle if they were at us during a period of time that they were at Liverpool.
  8. If he's a genuinely interested contender I guess he's changed his mind about the bold comment. Or he has been offered a role that doesn't match the criteria of a full-time manager.
  9. I reckon Houllier would keep at least 75% of our backroom staff in their jobs.
  10. This is what I'm hearing, but that its going to be more of a case of Shearer/Houllier. Where have you been hearing this James? Not going to name my source, but it comes indirectly from an associate of Houllier.
  11. This is what I'm hearing, but that its going to be more of a case of Shearer/Houllier. With those two, surely they'd have a bust up within six months and things would go to hell again. Not if it is clearly defined as to who does what.
  12. This is what I'm hearing, but that its going to be more of a case of Shearer/Houllier.
  13. They were never on it mate. Good response from the board though. Been listening to SBR, good man. Knew it was doubtful, but at least you can now give a legitimate and understandable reason why we aren't getting them.
  14. Hitzfeld and Lippi are now officially off the list then.
  15. Some aspects of defending we did well, Enrique and Carr stopped them attacking down the touchline. But time and time again, Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez found their way between our defenders, taking advantage of our centre halves lack of pace, and our midfielders lack of bite.
  16. I take it you didn't read it then? I take it back. The first paragraph provoked me.
  17. Can someone please undelete the other poll so I can vote for Mourinho? Simultaneously, can someone create the poll as requested here: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=48323.msg1157237#msg1157237
  18. Lippi? Van Gaal? Realistic? You have got some nerve, yes? Why not, Birmingham went for Lippi and he turned them down, but he is rumoured to be after a job in England, and I only put Van Gaal down because somebody mentioned him Van Gaal has recently said he's not interested, hasn't he? Lippi is as unrealistic as Mourinho is. Just vote and move on, its no big deal You're the lunatic who's made an entirely new thread/poll because you think Mourinho is an unrealistic target and you don't like the fact he's whooping everyone else out of sight. Oooh, I could crush a grape. Not to mention the fact that the mong has deleted the other poll just to try and hide the result
  19. It's not up to the owners, it's up to the manager.
  20. Ok, here is the JamesWorld Schedule. With the exception of 3 new fixture dates that occur in May, all matches are played on a date where there was originally a fixture. I'm interested in people's thoughts. August Season starts as normal 4 League games 2 CL qualifiers CC 2nd Round One league game added to replace international. September 6 League games 1 CL fixture CC 3rd Round Two league games added to replace internationals October 5 League Games 2 CL fixtures CC 4th Round Two league games added to replace internationals November 4 league fixtures 2 CL fixtures CC 5th Round 1 league, 1 CC game added to replace internationals December 4 league games FA Cup 3rd Round (Boxing day) CC Semi-Final (both legs) 1 CL fixture (completes group) Two league games swapped with CC 2nd Leg and FA Cup January Last club fixture is 6th January Two possible club fixtures: FA Cup 3rd Round Replay FA Cup 4th Round International Window 7th January – 10th February In 2007, 2009, 2011 etc Africans South Americans and Europeans play 6 qualifiers and 1 friendly. April FA Cup Semi Final 4 league games (potential postponement with FA Cup clash, as usually happens) May 5 league games FA Cup Final Season finishes 1 week late. International window from 19th May Teams play major tournaments, or they play six qualifiers
  21. So the Premiership has no fixtures in Jan or Feb? No FA Cup games either? Or am I wrong? Seven games rescheduled. Given that most could be placed into the weeks of existing international breaks, it is no big deal. Plus the 3rd, 4th and 5th round of the FA Cup, the semi finals and finals of the League Cup plus numerous knock out rounds of the Champions League and the Uefa Cup. No big deal really... When exactly would the season finish and start up again in Jamesworld?? You are exagerrating. ANC finishes on 10th of February. Let me knock up a Jamesworld fixture schedule for you if you give me a little time.
