I'd say there hasn't been much difference in terms of quality of football. At least Roeder puts out half-sensible teams now and then; I don't think I agreed with a Souness first XI since the day he joined. Souness put us in the shit and Roder is struggling to get us out.

Tbh, one of the best things you could do for Newcastle would be to extend the metro into the West End like they were planning on doing a few years back. It's all very well pissing about on the Quayside and in Ouseburn, but the areas that need 'gentrified' (to use a horrible fucking word) are all down the other end of the city. You stick a few Metro stops in there and house prices will rise, facilities will improve and will lead to an improvement in people's lives in areas which have been ignored for decades.

It's quite off-topic, and I hope he's a good signing for us, but, from what I've read so far, I hope this isn't the future of football. I heard on Talksport the other day an anonymous fella working in what is basically a feeder club for London PL sides and he said when they coaches and scouts come down to have a look at his lads, for the most part, they ignore the lads with good technique and football brains and pick out the ones with pace or who they think will grow into monsters. He reckons some scouts measure the lads' hands to work out how tall they'll grow, etc.
