  1. Still think it's long throws that are rocking the boat, nothing much evolving with corners
  2. Rory Delap in discussions with Barcelona as we speak.
  3. The proposed/alleged clampdown on wrestling at set pieces maybe makes teams more likely to use them. Will definitely lead to penaties if scrutinised.
  4. Shelvey was the closest thing to a football quarterback.
  5. Deserve it's own thread? They're definitely back in vogue and with Woltemade, Burn and Joelinton in the box they could be significant and impact on our season. Came so close from one yesterday and Brentford equalised from a near replica of ours. Oh and even Liverpool used them against us despite what snooty Slot said.

    Jacob Murphy

In his early days here there was something there, he'd come on create a chance, have a shot, make something happen, but never looked like he could be a starter. He's sort of crystalised those moments, extrapolated them to a full game and looks the essence of a pragmatic, functional team player. Still sometimes doesn't look like a starter but I love him and I'm sure the majority of managers would like him in their dressing room.
  7. Can't see Woltemade starting. It would be so un-Eddie to start a player with no PL experience straight away.
  8. Surely if this was included in some sort of contract NUFC were engaged in then they couldn't just cancel it ? Reports of the tickets being cancelled and season tickets being suspended surely means something dodgy has been going on ?
  9. And "You're just a shit Woltemade" ringing out from the away end in January as the icing on the cake
  10. Yeah hope it's not like Southampton, Brighton, West Ham, Everton or Bournemouth last season when much of the pre match discussion was how many we'd win by.
  11. Problem (if it really is a problem?) for Anderson, and now Miley, looking to breakthrough at Newcastle is who is in front of them. Arguably the best midfield three in the PL. At a different time they'd have been first choice regulars. Posts above on Anderson don't really take into account the unfortunate circumstances that when his real opportunity came, and he would have been a nailed on starter, he also got injured and that is when the 17 year old Miley was thrown in and did so well. Otherwise Anderson would have seen far more game time. Miley's recent limited game time when he often looks inhibited, playing very much to instructions, has led to doubts on here and I agree he needs to be unshackled. However never doubt just how highly Howe rates him and has always wanted him here in his squad. So does the rest of football and if he did leave Newcastle (unlikely) he would be snapped up by one of the big clubs not loaned out to the Championship.
  12. Probably true, but the 1 million plus population of the metropolitan area does give it the feel of a regional metropolis. Though maybe on a smaller scale it lacks nothing in terms of facilities, transport, lifestyle or cultural identity and diversity, that other bigger cities have. In fact it probably surpasses some of them. Added to that it's proximity to an amazing coastline and the wilderness hills makes it a very attractive place to live. At very least it's the hub of everything between Leeds and Edinburgh
  13. The final decision will not be based on location or capacity, but on maximising revenues through corporate income, though of course they will be considerations. We're just so far behind the clubs with new and bigger stadiums right now.
  14. In my experience it's not just us , fans of other clubs seem to despise Liverpool too. Probably overall the most despised club in English football which just shows how far the popular Sky/BBC narrative is from the truth.
  15. Terry McDermott did everything he could to force a transfer to Liverpool after the cup final in 1974 even to the point he was visibly not trying on the pitch. Despicable really but he was a Liverpool lad and fan. When he eventually returned to Newcastle he was treat like a hero. Short memories.
  16. That's it really. Nowadays we are in a much better position to take a big departure in our stride and move forward regardless.
  17. Just got to let it go now, he's history and we move on positively. When Supermac went to Arsenal many moons ago it felt much worse. Different times and circumstances but the whole city was devastated as he really was adored.

Truth is neebody knaas and probably never will. Just numbers pulled out by journalists who have been making things up all summer.
  19. No way Eddie Howe wanted a toxic, or even reluctant, presence in the dressing room. He will have had significant input into the decision to go for the maximum fee available and draw a line under something which would have continued to be a distraction in the months ahead. That decision had to be made today. We now have to move forward united and with total focus on the team and season ahead.
  20. Yeah Meant centre forward really.
  21. Don't know if he'll be our best ever No.9 but on the basis of that interview he could be the coolest.
  22. If we keep trying to accommodate three centre backs in that formation Toni Kroos will be binning his membership.
