It was essentially our "reserves" who played Blackburn the other night. The side tonight will be bairns, for example our 5th or 6th choice goalkeeper, and none of them will have been anywhere near the first team.

I see their owner Stewart Donald had been trying to wind up Newcastle fans on Twitter about the forthcoming Checkatrade game. Added to the things Methven has said earlier I bet Northumbria Police are delighted with them ahead of what will already be a difficult game. So the referee for this one has done two of our games so far this season. One we lost 1-0 and the goal came from a corner which was clearly a goal kick. The other was 0-0, only because of the miss of the season following a Palace attack where the ball had clearly gone behind the line but he waved play on. Add to that we didn't even get a corner when a Man U defender used his arm to deflect a free kick behind from inside the penalty area in the game down there. Away banker

TBH they've seldom looked convincing despite their league position, often just scraping through games. Going to have a tough second half of the season and may not have enough to finish in the top two.

Holds them back so much as it is the reason a lot of people don't bother. Pretty sure that with a small neat non league/ lower league stadium they'd pull in a decent gate and have a good atmosphere. Makes it even more remarkable how well Watson and his squad are doing against the odds.

Claiming that a one off gimmick attendance, which was campaigned for on social media etc, is "magnificent support" is a bit misleading really. It's no different to the spike you see in a lower league team's crowd the week before they play a big team in the cup or a non-league club before a big FA vase game. The 8,000 who turned out for a midweek FA cup match at the SoL last month are probably more representative of their magnificent support.

Isn't there an unwritten rule in media and official circles that you just don't criticise Liverpool whatever happens ?
