  1. Good sort of analogy. You get the header away, after which the defending player collides with you and you fall hard to the ground. Penalty? I wouldn't think so..
  2. Watched MOTD for the first time this season on Saturday (wonder why? ) and I thought Rob Green was excellent. One of the reasons I tend not to watch is not being able to stand the banality of the dire punditry. Not just MOTD though, Sky etc are just as bad if not worse.
  3. Never once come out top on stats since before their play off semi finals. That's a lot of games to be defying the odds. Obviously unsustainable.
  4. Team third bottom could go down with a pretty high points total this season. Very compressed table. When their inevitable slide starts. Just saying. Like.
  5. We made him. Decent player but we took him to another level. Our set up, tactics, players and coaches suited him perfectly and he will never find that situation again. He'll have his moments going forward but he will never again be the player he was at Newcastle.
  6. What a load of rot. You're the most whinging team I've seen in ages, dirty and shirt pulling incessantly. The rugby tackle on Woltemade that went unpunished You lost because you fluffed your lines in front of goal, no one to blame for that other than your billionaire superstars and overrated manager.
  7. I think almost everyone realised how much we missed those two genuinely top class full backs and their ability to get forward and link up with the wide men. The evidence of how we performed yesterday when they returned showed how right we were
  8. You never know but I couldn't see all three of them on the pitch unless one is filling in as the central attacker.
  9. At the moment he just looks like a player who desperately needs a top performance or an important goal to settle him and kick on. It will happen and I think we'll see a very different player thereafter.
  10. Thought yesterday was his best game for us so far, and that in the context of being good in most games. That top of the pitch alone against world class defenders, without a lot of possession role is so difficult but he get's on with it nicely and yesterday he was a real threat as well as holding the ball up and linking masterfully at times.
  11. A ridiculous amount of people leaving way before half time. The trickle starts with 10 minutes plus added time still to play and accelerates to a mass exodus where there are empty sections all over, with the game still going on. If you're not really that bothered about football let someone have your ticket who is.
  12. He made a complete tit of himself the way he behaved. Never going to happen but he should have walked. Got a yellow and then carried on doing what he got the yellow for at an even more animated level.
  13. Every season I feel a glimmer of hope before this fixture. Mainly based on some irrational law of averages belief that it has to happen, though conveniently forgetting the law of averages starts now and what went before doesn't count. This time it's substantiated by the prospect of having our first choice full backs playing. So important to how we play. Would love to relive that elation a Rafa low block masterclass and an ice cool Matt Ritchie penalty gave us a few seasons ago
  14. Classy club. Shags who he wants they said iirc.
  15. They really don't like Geordies, but for them "Geordieland" begins at Hartlepool
  16. Can there be such a thing as a nailed on draw ? Maybe when Germany play Austria once every few decades and they both need a point.
  17. Hopefully he gets impeached, or something, before we have to watch him double jerking as he gets booed out of the stadiums.
  18. Got to be honest I don't really understand how the qualification process works nowadays, just thought that they let all the bigger nations in eventually, or they soon will anyway. England just seem to beat everyone in qualification, hardly ever conceding and then fuck up as soon as they meet anyone half decent in the finals, even when they're virtually given a bye to the semis. I shouldn't really comment on international tournaments though as admittedly I don't pay much attention to them
  19. I'm really not bothered abut international football and the increasingly plastic tournaments given (sold) to dodgy hosts without a single consideration for real football fans. That said, for a while I've enjoyed watching the other home nations much more than England, who I don't watch at all nowadays. It's different, players from smaller clubs playing their hearts out on a stage much bigger than they're used to with a sprinkling of top end players adding to the mix. The England team and football is just so boring and uninspiring in comparison. Last night was an absolute classic.
  20. Sad news. Seemed to be around for ever and involved in every facet of the club's activities as the article says.
  21. Edinburgh. But Glasgow, though different, could be a great base, arguably more fun, but definitely less expensive and less touristy.
  22. Some of the stuff quoted on here from RTG reads like Trump truth social rants. Basically just spout anything, factual basis not required, that suits your warped agenda.
  23. Which is a great shame, because in a couple of games he has handled Haaland as well as anyone ever has.
