  1. Benwell Lad won't agree. This manager reeks of resignation (and not in the handing your notice sense of the word). No need to speak for me really, although I know you enjoy being a fans "spokesman" I don't know what the full context of the interview was (I realise that doesn't matter so some) but on what is printed perhaps Pardew has been a bit too open and possibly naive. But trust me, in professional football any manager would prefer bids not coming in for his best players and will "have a problem" when it happens. It upsets players and means dealing with agents and media etc when they'd probably rather be doing something else. However, it happens and it has to be dealt with. At worst Pardew has made a statement of the bloody obvious.
  2. The game statistics, possession, shots on, shots off, corners and crosses are all resoundingly in our favour. On that basis while the draw was unexpected it can hardly be called lucky. Thoroughly predictable whingeing from a blinkered set of Arsenal fans who are looking for a scapegoat rather than accepting their own sides shortcomings and frailties.
  3. Agree with the valuations, but do we wan't to become a selling club, simply becoming a conveyor belt for talent. No doubt, that is Ashley's plan. Your jaundiced views are well documented and may well be justified regarding Ashley's PR approach, crazy appointments etc, but to imply we are a "selling club" simply doesn't hold up - unless of course any club who ever sell a player (and that's all of them) falls into that category. In my decades of supporting the club we've actually felt less like a selling club over the last couple of years than at any other time I can remember, even taking into account last week's extraordinary events. We buy and sell players like everyone else, agents will continue to make contracts worth no more than toilet paper whoever you are, but if anything we're starting to look like a club with a very serious attitude to transfers and the subject of this thread is evidence of that.
  4. Exactly ! Every set of fans think they have special players who can walk into any top team and there'll be a bidding war over, e.g. Henderson,Adam, Brunt, S.Parker, Cahill etc, and a gushing media just crank up the hype. Tiote seems like a very decent person and I'm sure he will appreciate what our club and fans have done for him and he is intelligent enough to know that he may well develop best in a team like ours. He has mates in London and it's easier to get to Abidjan from there but Newcastle remains an attractive proposition for players in terms of lifestyle, facilities and playing in a packed home stadium. Only a small handful of clubs would be progress for him (if we stay up) and they will be looking all over the world for improvements not just at our best players.
  5. Notwithstanding the 2nd half Saturday when he was excellent, I'd say Danny Simpson has been our weakest defender overall but seems to be flavour of the month with many. Enrique who does many things brilliantly and has awesome power and pace has arguably made the most defensive mistakes this season but has the near legendary status that makes them easily forgotten. Williamson has made a goal saving last ditch tackle in both of the last games and at 6'4" he's going to be very handy in some of the away games coming up. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for improving the squad when we can but good centre halfs don't grow on trees and until we are guaranteed a better option I think Williamson is doing just fine. I'd make full backs or full back cover our defensive priority.
  6. That would be amazing. Would be a superb signing. Handled Andy Carroll better than any other CH this season in the match at St.James'
  7. Let Campbell go, bring Kadar into the fold and we'll still need another CB. Colo's only going to get slower, Williamson is average at best, as is Taylor. We need a CB version of Tiote. Aye, but I can't see Chelsea selling John Terry just yet. Seriously, I still think MW is a very decent centre half who can do it at this level. We've given up on far too many defenders in recent seasons the moment they had a slight wobble only to be proven wrong and ended up with replacements who were no better or even inferior.
  8. Who is he, I assumed he was just some random bloke? A random up his own arse bloke, who thinks he's some kind of intellectual social commentator and writes odious vitriolic bile. Complete tosser I'd say.
  9. The "Red Lion" announces cheap beer for the next televised home match. http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7830/8594display.jpg
  10. We might need you for Stoke away !
  11. What a load of odious vitriolic tripe, made even worse by trying to come across as some kind of intellectual social commentator. Tosser.
  12. 5 in 19 minutes if you include the perfectly good one which was disallowed.

    Alan Pardew

Has any new manager had a more turbulent/stressful first 2 months at a club ? Under the circumstances he's doing a pretty good job.
  14. A few stats/reminders for those whingeing gooners. You were 4-0 up with 21 minutes remaining. You were 4-1 up when Ranger came on. We had 55% possession. We had 20 shots you had 13 9 on target you had 7 We had 12 corners you had 6 We put 30 crosses in you put 19 in You're a dirty team but like your manager only ever see what you want to. Jack Wilshire is very talented but looks like the most up his own arse, get in the refs face player since Roy Keane. Be happy, you got a lucky point away from home.
  15. Maybe we should make a cheeky bid for his fellow Ivorian Drogba to keep him company.
  16. You'd be lucky to manage that. You'd need St Pauli playing Friday evening, Dortmund Saturday afternoon and Bayern on Sunday. Then you'd only have to drive about 1000km. It'd be a cracking weekend, though. A lot of the Bundesliga atmosphere is, IMO, down to standing. Watching from the terraces is 10x better than from a seat. I'd settle for just the St.Pauli Friday evening bit and then spend the rest of the weekend enjoying the win/lose/draw party they seem to have regardless. Better spend Saturday and Sunday in Hamburg than on the train going to Bavaria :-)
  17. I've had reservations about Simpson, but I have to say 2nd half yesterday he was a major player for us.
  18. ....er nar mate...we don't leave at f***ing half time, we stay, an reap the benefits. Do one. Are you forgetting about the thousands who left your game in the first half yesterday? Must be different rules when Newcastle fans leave early. There was still about 45,000 in the ground at full time, which is more than the amount that actually turn up to your games...unless your playing the Toon. Rubbish. Those who left were a few dozen, possibly hundred. Hope they never come back personally.
  19. That is crying out for a Stokoe statue. Just found my new wallpaper. Goodbye greedy Gateshead grabbing git.
  20. It goes without saying but I'll say it anyway, Piers Morgan is an odious c***. He is known as Piers "Moron" after all.
  21. Potential legend. Love you Joey.
  22. Mental ? Yes. Very. Good times, bad times, whatever ? Love them.
  23. 10 out of 10. Stunning, amazing, precious. A legend in the making !
  24. I've enjoyed wins more than that but I've never seen a better draw !
