Newcastle United 4 - 4 Arsenal - 05/02/11 - post match reaction from page 32

Just so proud ot the team tonight. Ashamed about the woman behind me who left at 3-0, please never return, being a football supporter is for life through thick and thin, if you can't hack it fukk offf and suport Man City. Proud of Tiote, closest I've ever seen to a 10 out f 10. Ashamed of the few fans who sang for Hughton when we were 3-0 down - piss off and support another team, we all love Hughton but that was a cowardly chant. Proud of all those who booed that chant even though we were 3-0 down. If your proud to be a Geordie clap your hands CLAP CLAP !!! -

Howay man, politicians never let facts get in the way of their agenda. -
Wish they'd either go up to 5th or down to 7th because if I here "we're 6th in the Premier League" one more bloody time I'll go nuts. Did Birmingham, Bolton, Wigan, Blackburn or any other small club go on about it so much when they had a flirtation with the top end of the league ?

Williamson put a great, goal saving tackle in not long before that as well, after Jose had f***ed up and lost possession fannying on outside the box. Jose fkd up but was covering more at CB when he fkd up, long ball came from Murphy who was not closed down. My issue with Williamson is not so much in open play its all the fkn grabbing and holding on set pieces. It was highlighted last night and we could do without that, but every centre back does it all the time nowadays. Juniors are being coached to do it "properly" to minimise it being evident. Personally I hate it, but I don't think williamson does it any more that any other CB in the league - possible exception Colo who is just so good he doesn't need to. One of the stupidest things I ever heard a TV pundit say (and theres plenty of competition) was when the idiot Lawrenson was analysing a possible (but not given) penalty a few years ago. The forward was getting his shirt blatantly pulled and the scouse dim wit said "oh it's nothing really just a bit of shirt tugging, it happens all the time so it would have been harsh to give it" FFS where do the BBC get them and how much do they pay them to spout such wisdom ?

Sorry think you misunderstood what I said, I meant the market for premier league football only, wasn't saying anything about the domestic leagues and their tv following elsewhere. Ah gotcha. My mistake -

Actually fancy us to get something off the gooners more than I did at Fulham for some reason ?? -
Bearing in mind the macums tried desperately to get a forward in for a couple of weeks and failed miserably, it's no surprise we couldn't do anything in four hours. Many of us would have had a new forward as the priority before the window even opened, losing Carroll and now Shola makes not doing so look even more stupid, but that is with a generous helping of hindsight. Really funny reading people lamenting Xisco's departure. They're right of course but it's still funny.

The odds and everything else seem stacked against us, but it will be a big crowd and IF the place is rocking, in this crazy season, like you say "anything can happen". -

I don't think anyone would accuse you of knee jerking Ian, it's not your style mate. P.S. that word "semantics" has been used a few times recently on here, not quite as much as f***, s***, c*** or b******, but maybe things are looking up at last My knee nearly jerked out of the socket over the Carroll sale TBH, I was saying I was going to give up on football and all sorts. Then by Fulham kick off I was right behind the team again! Shameful Supporting Newcastle is a life sentence for most of us mate. Better get used to it ! -

We usually perform pretty well against Arsenal, obviously they're favourites and everyone is down about last night's debacle though. Debacle ? - howay man. We were poor and got beat 1-0 by a decent Fulham side. First half was pretty equal, we couldn't hold it up front second half and it looked grim but only a piece of chronic defending stopped us getting a draw. Poor yes - but compared to some of the stuff we've seen in the last few years I'd call it a narrow defeat not a "debacle", -

Some way to go, but sounds like the first good news of the week to me ! Stalker - I don't know the actual figures but I wouldn't be so sure the UK market is so much bigger ?? They're nuts about the game in Germany too and have a very healthy competitive league, a very comprehensive TV product and a bigger population and economy as well. Even smaller countries like Greece have huge TV audiences for their domestic fixtures. I hate the Sky propoganda "The Premier League's current deal with Sky is worth nearly £2bn - money the league argues is invested in maintaining the quality of the product" our league was more exciting 10 or even 20 years ago than it is today, it just wasn't any where near as much hyped. Sky's money and therefore domination of the game has been bad for most real football fans. Not shaping up to be a great year for Murdoch so far. -

Well never fancied anything down there and so it turned out. Forwards unable to make anything stick and there was no way we could have held out for the whole second half like that. Harper was excellent - apart from that - meh. Jose once again proved to be a flawed diamond making the difficult look easy but failing at basics. It's been a bad week, a very bad week, but some of the whingeing and moaning on here is embarrassing, not so long ago London away games on telly were a given, yet here we could almost have nicked an undeserved draw. See the doom mongers at nufc.com reckon it was the worst, most gutless performance since the Villa relegation match and the team spirit has suddenly evapourated. I'd give them either WBA or Bolton away and throw in a couple of home games this season as well. Once again fate conspires against us and it looks like not bringing a proven forward in was a huge mistake. Gonna have to scrap for everything now lads, time for Ranger to step up to the plate and add some maturity to his undoubted ability and for the fans to do what they do best. -
Well, if the side played more interesting football, it wouldn't be an issue. Was rumoured they were doing "specials" every time St.Pauli scored !
-
Only at St.Pauli German side St Pauli have asked the owners of one of their executive boxes to stop strippers performing during games after they installed a pole and mirror. "They can do what they like after games," said club president Stefan Orth. (Observer)

Saw Mainz play in December. Player who caught the eye was a Adam Szalai 22 year old 6'4" Hungarian centre forward - mobile and notched a couple but this is his first season in top league. Was interesting Liverpool but they went for someone else apparently. Checked programme and Holtby was playing - wish I'd taken more notice.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Buying in football always comes with risk and you've mentioned a few belters there, but I would say over the last couple of years we've spent very wisely and got some good value for money. -

Love it how in "football land" we talk about people earning £20K, £30K a week like they're paupers. I like Carroll and sure he will get what the market is prepared to pay him, but it is clear the club were prepared to review his contract in the summer, so sorry Andy lad, the word is greed and you're just a greedy bastaad. -

Both great CF's, but with Shearer you knew 100% what you were getting and that included a mental strength and maturity way beyond his years, a perfect professional who would only ever be on the back pages not the front. -
International football is often boring, always over hyped, attracts the most plastic of plastic fans and our team is normally composed of cunts. I'd rather watch Northern League than international football.

"Liverpool delighted their fans but stunned the footballing world when the club signed Carroll for the huge sum this week."....... I am one of that rare breed of Liverpool fan, one who is actually born and bred in Liverpool, and I have to say I know A LOT of other born and bred Liverpool fans who like me were NOT delighted by the fact that the club spent £35 million on Carroll" He's gonna have to hit the ground running to please that lot. -
