You really believe this transfer request bullshit, get a grip. Will you drink a glass of your own piss when Carroll doesn't deny it? His agent, the player, the club and ultimately Abramovich's millions all contributed to today. The poll on the Carroll thread which is probably the biggest ever on here and therefore I'd assume the most representative, currently has 18% of fans blaming the club for what happened.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Somebody terminate that little s***'s contract so he can end up at Blyth Spartans. Can't believe these young players, just don't seem to show any loyalty. If I was on just £20,000 a week I can't see why I would need/want any more and leave the team I have supported for years to get it. Aye, the honourable attitude that we believe in and once actually prevailed. And then you get an agent............. -
At the top level, money Dave. Nothing else. This morning none of us imagined Carroll would leave for Liverpool yet this afternoon about an hour before the transfer request was submitted I began to think he is definitely going. When a bid of £35M was mentioned, add on the 5 year contract upgrade plus bungs and keeping Carroll on the books started to look like a £50M asset and we could no longer say no. This was a Geordie lad living the dream, not wanting to leave and a club not wanting to sell, but despite that he went. The agent or deal broker triumphed, ultimately funded by the oligarchs billions. As you, Ian W and a few other have said it's a shame we become so emotionally attached to such a mercenary sport.

Because Hughton has years on managerial experience. Managerial experience of getting relegated and shagging his player's wives. You and Chris are going to be so disappointed if he doesn't go aren't you. -

It's often said that conceding an equaliser in the last minute is like losing but scoring one is like winning. By the same logic if Carroll doesn't go will it feel like we've just signed a £35M striker ? -

Yup, where the hell would our goals come from!? Coloccini. Working on some new set pieces this morning in training. That's it then - all bets off - Carroll's gone. -

On the basis of what I saw when we played Liverpool that would be cracking business for them. -

Starting to look like the Berbatov story of two years ago. Shame Keegan wasn't still in the game - he could do a runner and the night would be complete. -

That is because David Craig said he thinks Liverpool will come back in with another bid. Must be true, it's not like Sky spin things along just cos they've got advertisng and subscriptions to sell, is it ? -

Having just got Mensah, Onuoha etc back this week . Are you seriously sugesting that Alan Smith, Ryan Taylor and Dan Gosling being injured has made any difference to you whatsoever? Every one of the Sunderland players listed would have played a major part this season. Grow up. Did you get hit on the head by one of the missiles your fans bring into the Stadium of Light for throwing at people, or have you always been daft ? -

And look at it on the otherside, we have a striker now thats worth more then 30 mil and other teams sniffing round. i think retaining the asset is far better. Assets can depreciate as well as appreciate - he would need to come back fit and continue to score goals or his price will plummet. There's no guarantee he'll do that - teams will inevitably start to come to terms with him (like they tend to do with all players) so he'll find it increasingly difficult. This time last year Bobby Zamora was the next big thing.... You could buy half a dozen good players with £30m. Like I said, if they've turned that down they are absolutely mental. Incompetent. Bitter nonsense. Care to explain how that's nonsense? Or indeed why I'm bitter given how swimmingly things are going at the club I support at the moment? If you think £30m isn't a hugely inflated price for an INJURED player with limited Premier League pedigree and considerable off the field problems it's you who is talking nonsense. He's scored 11 goals ffs and a good number of those are from set-pieces. I very much doubt anyone will ever offer anything like that for him again. I joined this board to join in the banter and have a bit of debate, not wind people up. Anyone with half a brain can see that Liverpool have hugely over valued him if the offer that's rumoured to have been made has in fact been made. You monkeys got any pitch invasions/opposition player attacks planned at the Stadium of Light in the near future ? Got to be more interesting for you than speculation about a Newcastle player's future. There's a meeting of the official SAFC Supporters Pitch Invasion and Player Assaulting Planning Group on Thursday, I'll let you know on Friday if anything is decided. Until then you could occupy yourself practicing some knew and more interesting patter, because at the moment you're both tedious and repetitive. ...and hitting a raw nerve by the look of it. Good. You come across as one of those superior macums - possibly a north of the Tyne one ?? Saint Niall still turning a blind eye to your stadium's crowd control problems is he ? Dunno how the FA let him get away with it. -

The FA have said that if we don't sell Carroll to Spurs they're gonna paw all over Joey Barton video footage and find something to ban him for.

Carroll has only had half a season at the top level and half a season would not normally be enough to make big predictions on. However I would say that having watched him for a few seasons now, injury free, Andy Carroll will go on to be the best English forward of his generation. The last time I was so confident about a product of our youth set up was when Paul Gascoigne graduated to the first team. -

See nufc.com are priming themselves for a "We told you so" but will no doubt conveniently disregard their headline if nothing happens - a la Chronicle "you heard it here first" type scoops. Lets face it anything can happen in football nowadays with agents running the show, but bearing in mind that nufc.com started the stories running after Carroll had attended an appointment in Harley St. Harley St = London = Spurs (geddit), then shouldn't we now be bracing ourselves for a deadline day bid from IFK Gothenburg or some other Swedish club ? -
It does kind of sadly sum up the difference between supporting your club and obsession with another club.
-
Very astute. It does seem that the rabid hatred which manifests itself on their forum, ecouraging pitch invasions, applauding player assaults and many other vile ways in thousands of anti-Newcastle threads emanates from a raging inferiority complex, whereas the thread on here is just a big macum piss take, something most Geordies (and many further afield) see as being part of their birth right.

Intersting post. Particularly when it's on page ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NINE of a thread entitled "Sunderland". Oh the irony. Interesting quote considering this is NUFC online :S your here because? Not looking for an argument because you may just fancy some civilised football banter A bit of banter to be honest, I'm not on a wind up. I've just always found the whole "you're obsessed with us", "no, you're obsessed with us" argument to be a bit of a farce really. Fans of both clubs take an interest in the other, as they should. Are you the "sunderland til I die" type or just the "sunderland til half time depending on the score and weather" type. You could even be Saint Nile on a short break from whoring around working mens clubs and schools on Tyneside trying to sell £10 tickets for the Liverpool match ?? Hold on a minute you're not Louise are you ?
-
Brilliant reposte. Oh no,not another "superior" macum ! Why don't you just join the rest of your monkeys in planning future pitch invasions, attacks on opposition players, getting knives etc inside the stadium and leave the blarney to Saint Niall and Susan Boyle. BTW why do none of your management or players reside in Sunderland - they're happy enough to pick up their artificially inflated salaries, signing on fees etc down there - surely they could spend a little time amongst their supporters ? You seem to know a lot - could you post a list of (a) what each memeber of the SAFC management and playing staff earn and (b) a list of their home addresses? You know, so we can be sure you're not just guessing. Perhaps you mistakenly think I work in Sunderland FC's accounts or HR departments and I'm privvy to such details ?? I don't, I just have a modicum of common sense, something which you seem to lack despite your "superior" attitude, and like most people I know that Sunderland's highly paid employees avoid the "city" of Sunderland like the plague. Like I said just go back to planning your next pitch invasions/player attacks etc - it's what you seem to be best at.

Rest assured that if Muntari and Sessegnon had any serious offers from decent clubs they would not be at Sundlund. They didn't so they are.
