The only reason I could think of bringing him on would have been if we were trying to hold onto a lead, even then it would have been questionable considering we finished with 10 men against West Ham. You may be missing my point, I'm not arguing that it was a regretable decision to bring him on, and had I been in Pardew's shoes I wouldn't have made that change. So on that we agree. My point is that there are quite a few who said nowt as he came on, some who even cheered his introduction but are now criticising that decision. Like I said wisdom in hindsight.......... So f***ing what? The decision was made by Pardew, not anyone on here. It went wrong. Good point. Well made.

A lot of people in the match thread criticised the decision before it happened and as and when it was happening. Was blatantly a disaster waiting to happen. Only a couple (take a look) remarked that it was not a smart move with him being on 9 yellows, myself included although not on here. A LOT criticised the decision AfTER the tackle and sending off. Obviously was a disaster waiting to happen.

So knowing that you shouldn't risk your most influential player who is a defensive midfielder in a game that you're 2-0 down in qualifies you to manage Barcelona, brilliant but hardly reducing the number of applicants. I watched the game in a crowded pub and to the best of my knowledge not one person said anything or complained about the substitution when Tiote came on. In some cases quite the opposite. After the game a few had already started grumbling about what a bad decision it was. It may well be that you had sufficient foresight to criticise the substitution when he came on, but if we're honest, you're in a small minority. Like I said wisdom in hindsight is worth very little, but theres an awful lot of it about.

Turned out to be a pretty regretable decision but the amount of wisdom in hindsight being churned out is quite pukeworthy. Must be a few on here waiting for the Barcelona job as they seem to know so much about managing football teams. Wisdom in hindsight is a very cheap commodity lads.
  6. Kind of sums up the whole festering cesspit of their town and football club. Sunderland Til I Die AKA Sunderland Til Half Time (SJP, 31/Oct/10) ;D
  7. Don't Newcastle wheel out that Graham Danby bloke to get the atmosphere started before big games? 30% of the makems will need to turn up early to find their seats and familiarise themselves with the stadium. I hope your lots going to stay in the stands this time and not on the pitch Wearside? At least 2 threads on that pisspoor forum of theirs urging fans to attack Newcastle players when they invade the pitch if they score. Also saying stewards turn a blind eye for this fixture, to anyone bringing in missiles to throw during the game from their SW corner. Not surprising really, their club virtually condoned it last time and the FA just seem to turn a blind eye to their regular pitch invasions.

  9. Have a feeling Bruce is saying that just for the hell of it. Wasn't Welbeck supposed to be out for 3 weeks, and that was only announced a week/week and a half ago? Something's fishy. And it's not Bruce's afternoon snack. Bruce does it all the time, after we played Blackpool over Christmas,Welbeck was supposed to have done his hamstring and low and beyond 3 days later he was playing against Blackburn. Cattermole is not injured as such but has been told to rest his back,I think he will definetely play. I hope so you'll be down to 10 men at some stage if that idiot thug plays. I guess Man U will have the final call on Wellbeck - looked like a bottler at SJP but seems to have done OK since.
  10. Totally wrong decision - twice - but what would anyone expect from fukcwits like Andre Marriner and the Football Association.
  11. Exactly, this is the first derby in ages I don't feel really nervous about. Unless they beat us heavily, which they don't do to anyone regularly, we hold the bragging rights for the season. I don't feel nervous about it because I've already come to terms with the fact we will probably lose, as I don't believe Nolan and Smith are capable of competing as a central midfield pairing. You are only as good as your last win so the bragging rights will be pretty worthless unless we get a point. Now this lad speaks sense. You a regular or just one of the 15,000 going along on Sunday because it's Newcastle ? Working mate. Very rarely get to any games. Ah well, at least you've got a job.

  13. Exactly, this is the first derby in ages I don't feel really nervous about. Unless they beat us heavily, which they don't do to anyone regularly, we hold the bragging rights for the season. The way their fans deserted their team at SJP should give us the rights for decades. They were the diehards too - on Sunday they will be about one third part timers - some probably never been to a match before.
  14. Will Sunderland be able to control their crowd this time (we know they're not used to big attendances) or will they just turn a blind eye once again as the inbreeds routinely encroach on to the playing area whenever they feel like it ? Perhaps the FA may finally take some action if/when it occurs this time.
  15. Little wonder that their once proud town is just a forgotten hinterland that no one cares about nowadays.
  16. Marriner has fukked up so many times before and not admitted it he's unlikely to this time. Incompetent bastad.
  17. Sunday Sun reckoned we had a near full strength team out, I counted 4 first choice players and one of those was Simpson who probably wouldn't be if there was any competition at RB.
  18. Andre Marriner should be kept well away from professional football and go back to a level he can control. Totally conned yesterday by the Stevenage player and the reaction of a rabid crowd, he is just unfit for this level of the game. Tiote's red must be rescinded if there is any justice in the game.
  19. Notts County must be the new Barcelona.
  20. I'm sure Duncan Young will be salivating at the thought of shifting a few more overpriced Tyneside properties.
  21. Durham Radisson is the hotel of choice these days. Nice city Durham, always had a lot in common with Newcastle - good universities, classy riversides, nice areas popular with SAFC employees, main line railway links, both look down on the scabby shithole down the road etc etc.....
  22. Spot on Heed, very little between the Conference and League 2 nowadays, and with the lack of football for the reserves lately a good chance for them to get games under their belts at a very competitive level. They'll be in good hands with Ian Bogie as their gaffer too.
  23. Absolutely right Ian W, missing sitters is just part of any striker's lot and overall his progress is decent and he should become a good PL player. I think a more general thing with Ranger has been his lifestyle tardiness and him coming off the pitch after we've been beaten, clutching an opponent's "trophy" shirt with a smile on his face. These are bigger issues in his development than missing an open goal and it seems that Pardew is managing him accordingly.
  24. :iamatwat: You've got love comments like this. You do realise we have one the best home records in the entire country over the last 12 month don't you? When did Newcastle become Barcelona? Unbelievable confidence from you bud and comments like that generally come back to bite you on the arse. Very selective quoting there weary, take a look at posts I wrote after this one and you'll see a bit of explanation. Don't understand your constant referrals to Barcelona Do you mean you think it would take Barcelona to beat Sunderland nowadays ? Comments like that could well come back and bite you on the arse.
  25. I really hope we can get enough points on board to be comfortable and then have a real go at the FA Cup. A few decent draws (that would be something new) and who knows ? Wem - ber - leee !!!
