Do they have a Geordie chief scout who is based in Newcastle ?
-
Mike Ashley has put our club on a secure financial footing paying off the previous regimes debts out of his own pocket AND he's English and drinks beer. Dennis Wise, the player we hated, is doing a good job scouting and has brought excellent quality young and senior players to the club. Kevin Keegan, that's the THE tactically inept Kevin Keegan, who boldly played 4-3-3 last season and blew away relegation worries is our manager. Despite probably needing more players we brought in quality additions during the transfer window and in Jonas and Coloccini probably made 2 of the best signings of the summer. We got £12 for the willing but average James Milner. Unlike any other club in football we make worldwide news headlines when our manager doesn't take training, despite him having been in meetings until the early hours and it being an international week. We must be a big club after all ! Err.......... thats it for now.

A national radio station last night. Reporter outside SJP finishes interviewing some mong and starts interviewing a surprisingly lucid member of the crowd who criticises the media for their outrageous reporting of Keagan's "sacking" and their stirring up the non story. Reporter cuts him short and says "how can it be our fault - the Newcastle board offered no statement" (to refute rumours made up by other press people) Reporter then, instead of letting lucid person continue, turns to crowd of assorted retards and says "who do you think is to blame is it Ashley ?" Crowd bellows "YES" "There you have it" says reporter, "the people up here blame Ashley" We hear nothing more from lucid intelligent person. -

Far too sensible. You'll never be quoted in the media with opinions like that ! -

Don't worry too much monkey there'll still be more than 50K at the Hull game even without you. Looks like the mackems are boycotting their games already judging by the empty spaces on Sunday. So much for "Roy's revolution". -
Judging by the huge vacant spaces at the Riverside on Saturday and Stadium of Shoyt on Sunday, Middlesboro and Sunderland fans are already boycotting their teams.

Gerard Tubbs outside training ground - "what we do know is Newcastle are not united" Are you sure Tubbsy or is this not just more made up reporting based on rumours started by other reporters with no facts to back anything up ? Just admit it you all got it so wrong yesterday, in the press and media, it was laughable so today you're looking for anyone to blame other than yourselves. -
Pretty much spot on. Obviously Wise is a Londoner and was an odious little scrote when he was a player. But what he's done since then has generally been good, and I don't see any reason why so many people are against him. I don't see much evidence that this episode has much to do with Wise at all. Lets face it after yesterday's debacle in the press/media they have to have someone to blame it all on.

All big clubs have global scouting operations and scouts very seldom live close to the club. None of our previous chief scouts have been based on Tyneside. Being London based actually helps us with it's air links etc. Dennis Wise was a good appointment - he did a great job at Leeds - and has started producing goods here in terms of the junior and senior players he has brought in. Like all Newcastle fans I used to give him stick in his playing days but working WITH Keegan he could be a great asset. Again most of the tripe written about him is from mischief making mackems pretending to be Newcastle fans or scurrilous reporters with an anti-Newcastle agenda.

Sums the rag up. Shame because it was once a good paper that employed serious jounalists. Hope someone from "Private Eye" has followed the events they will absolutely rip their reporting to shreds. -

Newcastle are victims of their own popularity. Sunderland and Middlesbrough may be of importance on Wearside and Teesside but nationally and internationally there is only one significant club north of Manchester. Newcastle fill column inches and newsreel and the present regime's lack of openness when compared to Freddie's soap opera really riles them, hence the vendetta. Newcastle get 48,000 against Bolton - national news reported by everyone. Man City get 36,000 - no mention. Sunderland's revolution attracts only 39,000 - no mention. Middle aged man drinks pint of beer wearing Newcastle shirt - national news ! Yesterday's was the funniest yet - wall to wall coverage of an event not based on any fact merely conjecture and mis-information, lots of lazy journalists penning articles based on rumours started by other journalists ?? The non story was the headline on this morning's national news. It could only be Newcastle! Another sad day proving again how bad the British press and media have become. -
Looks like spending his working day in the company of scum like Keane, Joof and Chimbonda is rubbing off on him. Still if it all comes to a premature end at least he can look back on the highlight of his career - scoring against the mackums in the 4-1 - with some satisfaction.

At least players and management at Sunderland - Britain's most depressing "city" - can live in Durham or Newcastle. Don't suppose Manchester players fancy living in Liverpool or Blackburn ? Live in Liverpool? Doesn't seem very practical with great parts of Cheshire on their doorstep. They might fancy living in Liverpool though since the crime rate is lower than Manchester and it doesn't rain so much. You never know. Some lovely places in the south end, don't suppose you've ever set foot here though. I know Torres & Reina live in Woolton and Cahill lives in Calderstones which are both in the city proper. Most of them seem to live on the outskirts in Formby though. (that's another nice place in the north west you haven't got a clue about) I used Liverpool in the context of a rival footballing city like Newcastle/Sunderland. I've spent a lot of time on Merseyside and know the city and outskirts well. I'm old enough to have seen the serious decline that took place as the port and docks ceased to be and some areas became the poorest parts of Britain. Now seen the rejuevenation of the centre and parts of the old dock areas in L'pool and Birkenhead. As ever the Wirral and out towards Southport are classy areas and traditionally home to most of your celebs and pro footballers. I've also seen seven goal thrillers at Anfield, an eight goal thriller at Goodison (remember that ?) and even been to Prenton Park more than once. Had good nights out and drank in some of the roughest boozers on the planet - the Duke in Birkenhead springs to mind, probably no longer there. Not a bad place Liverpool but you're right, anyone with Ronaldo's money would probably choose Cheshire instead.

Plenty of nice places to live in Cheshire. And I'm sure they do. Not much for pro footballers in Rochdale or Bury.

Smacks very much of agent involvment. Parasites. Not good timing but at the £9-10M quoted would not be bad business. Good player, good attitude but will never be a great player. Suppose it's off to Villa and Barry to Liverpool. Or is it Milner to Liverpool and Barry staying ? Don't suppose he's been tempted by "Roy's revolution" "The Sunderland project" or Niall's "Magic carpet ride" mackems.gif

The usual drivel, I suppose the daughter of the mackem scum Louise will be weighing in with a similar show of lazy writing soon. Half the Premiership in turmoil (Spurs, WHU, Man City, Everton, Liverpool, Pompey etc etc) - not to mention Keane doing his best to make Sunderland the new Leeds United, and still they have to invent scurrilous lies about Newcastle to fill their ailing rags. One particular point. Did we really want to sign Anton Fredinand ? Keegan is the master of clever transfer dealing - probably the only man ever who could take a team from the brink of relegation to the 3rd division to 2nd in the premier league on a modest budget. I have complete faith in his judgement, BUT if he seriously wanted to buy Anton Ferdinand then my faith has been misplaced. I for one was doing celebratory cartwheels when I heard that Royston is paying £8M pounds for such an error prone thick defender. Him and Taylor would have been a nightmare. So when Keegan had the chance to get a defender of Colocinni's pedigree would he really have wanted someone as bad as Ferdinand. I don't think so. -
If Carlsberg did Transfer Rumours.. (Berbatov)
Benwell Lad replied to Colos Short and Curlies's topic in Football
Berbatov's attitude was exactly the same last year when we beat Spurs 3-1 at home and he sat sulking on the bench - not long before Martin Jol left. Talented player - lousy attitude, I'd rather not have him. Anyone old enough may remember a certain Terry MacDermott doing exactly the same to us back in the 70s when he had his heart set on a move to Liverpool. Treat us like sh** despite making his name here. -

I thought he was excellent despite what a few on here have said. Definitely Premiership class and I can understand why Bolton wanted to keep him so badly, but don't really understand why Liverpool let him go so easily, he'd have been a decent saquad player at least and potentially much more. But can you see him viably challenging Gerrard, Alonso, Lucas and Mascherano for a first team place? The impression I got was that he was rated highly but would fail to break into the first team. You're right, but I would have thought he was worth hanging on to as a squad player and also to see how he progressed in the next year or so. I'm glad they thought otherwise as their (and Bolton's) loss looks very much like our gain.
-
About 500, lets face it thay all deserve medals for travelling to watch Bolton away - imagine having to watch such a negative game plan all the time. The meagre away support stopped us getting the 50K we used to get for the less glamorous games. I also knew of several people on holiday who would normally have passed their tickets on but because of the late delivery the tickets were lying on doormats behind locked doors on Saturday.
-
Macums seem to be obsessed with attendance, their message boards are inundated with guessing games about crowds and as always they are even more obsessed about our attendances. Considering they NEVER fill their ground (apart from when we visit) and were 5000 short in the first game against one of the big 4, had 15,000 against Arsenal in one of the last games at Roker and were getting crowds around 20 - 30,000 before the pikeys hijacked their club means they really shouldn't be taking the piss out of anyone. Proportionally taking the populations of the towns against average crowds into account Boro have had better support than Sundlund.

Glad someone pointed this out, MOTD didn't show it. Quality football; a patient build up and a great move that would have resulted in a f***ing outstanding goal if finished off (which it should have been - Geremi wasn't it?). If that was Arsenal the media would have been shitting themselves. That one move alone gives me confidence for this season, it showed real promise. The header Milner just missed was also from a very patient possession build up similar to the one Geremi got on the end of. Excellent display yesterday against the Premierships most frustrating team.
