I'm actually starting to feel sorry for the kid and I NEVER thought I'd say that.
-
Yeah. They were pretty excited about their airshow too.

Still our best midfielder and one of the best in the PL on his day. Now he HAS to prove it like never before. Once he's started proving it I'll start giving him credit for it. Rather than say "Welcome back" I'd say it's mor approriate to say "start earning your money and eraning some respect you prick. We backed you now, give us something in return other than bad headlines" Yes, thats the "welcome back" he merits. Lat's hope the band wagon jumpers and press lynch mob lay off and give him a chance to do just that.

They cancelled the deal once Barton got sentenced to time in jail though. Neither keane or Diouf did time. Yeah point taken. It does seem the persecution factor is so much higher in this case though. So if it was cancelled a while ago it's just another case of Sky etc dredging up an old story to suit their agenda ?

I see Nike have jumped on the tabloid fuelled Barton bandwagon. Strange how the persecution of this Newcastle player seems to have a much higher media profile than other clubs players who in the past have been caught up in indiscretions such as drunk driving, rape allegations, videoing sex acts with teenage girls etc. I wonder why ? Have Roy (break a players leg intentionally) Keane and El Hadj (spit on players, fans or anyone else who gets in my way) Diouf lost their deals ? Nike are of course only exercising their commercial right, so I may exercise mine by not bothering to buy any of their overpriced, dubious quality sport, leisure and golf gear from now on.

 Just as Newcastle supporters would have done in years gone by. Speak for yourself. I normally do. Most other people do as well. With the exception of the occasional knacker you get on Sky or BBC claiming to represent NUFC supporters spouting exactly what the news editor wants to hear but nothing like what most supporters actually think.

At least he'd get his wages doubled to go there. Although whether he'd like to share a dressing room with unsavoury characters like Chimbonda and Diouf (or Roy Keane for that matter) is debatable !

They got that quote from the comments on an article posted on the front page - are they f***ing serious? That kind of s*** passes as proper journalism in England? Fraid so..........
-
Very apt to the Barton situation.

There's another thread for those of you who want to lynch him. This one is for those who want him to change his ways. If he leaves your city he could go to a "city" just down the road where the team is managed by someone whose pre-meditated actions destroyed another man's livelihood. And he did not serve any time he actually profited from writing about it.
-
As the thread already dealing with Joey Barton carries a title (tabloid headline like) which would leave any casual visitor to this site thinking that we are all against him, best we have one for those who agree with Kevin Keegan that he has done his time and should put the past behind him. So welcome back Joey, get fit and build on the form you showed at the end of last season and well done KK for respecting the law of the land regarding spent convictions and refusing to give in to the lynch mob mentality of certain newspaper "journalists" and sadly some fans. That's it then lad, get on with the business of playing football and keep the f*** out of bother. Or else.........

That's mackem journalism for you I suppose. Repeats the same quotation in a 1 page article. It is simply incredible that these people get paid for this standard of work. Total slag. Wonder what spin she'll put on Roy's interest in the "hockler". -
common sense say a lot of clubs haven't made their major moves in the market. i'd be happier had we concluded more deals by now but i can see a lot of clubs making their deals well after the season has kicked off. There is so little movement in the market this close season, no real quality yet. I'm glad that Keegan and Co have not been pressurised into buying for the sake of it to appease press hysteria, co-incidentally the same people who'd be having a go if we were linked with the type of average yet vastly overpriced players Sunderland, for example, are chasing. Keegan has made it clear that he only wants to bring in players who will improve on what he already has and genuinely want to play here. Patience may be required.

They've signed two players mackems.gif Verge of signing Diouf and Malbranque and Kaboul remain big possibilities. If they manage to get even 2 out of these 3 signed, they will have over-done themselves for this transfer window. On the verge means nowt as you know, its just hilarious that the likes of shithead are bigging up everything Sunderland do. If they're so much as linked with a player then its as good as them signing him and there team has improved 1000%. They've actually signed two players, we've signed two players. But at this rate they're going to catch us up apparently.. they need not do much catching up to do considering our poor quality of our squad. frankly, will be happier if we swapped signings. ours are very much a gamble while theirs are proven players in the prem league. but what an exciting derby it will be.....can see them signing some more shrewd signings with an ambitious Quinn on helm. Total bollocks, there miles behind us. Also if we'd swapped signings you'd be complaining about Chimbonda and Tianio and wishing we'd signed that fantastic Argentine international you've seen a wonder DVD of and Danny "the next Rob Lee" Gurthrie If we'd signed the players Sunderland have so far and also showed interest in the likes of Diuof most on this forum would be up in arms about the lack of ambition and paying over the odds for average players. And rightly so. Fortunately Keegan has made it clear that he only wants players who can improve on what he already has, if and when they become available.

Exactly the point, pre season optimism so often misplaced. It counts for nothing.
-
............. is way overated. Having supported Newcastle for decades and been a keen observer of football in general I'd say never read too much into what happens pre season. Maybe it's just the wall to wall coverage of everything and the number of 24/7 sports news channels that hype things up so much but nothing really matters until it starts for real.

Forget the Far East: why not try moving to the North East
Benwell Lad replied to a topic in Football
So true. Durham has a lot to offer and of course Newcastle now has a European wide reputation as a buzzing place. It's obvious that mega rich footballers will avoid a place like Sunderland in favour of Durham and Newcastle. Personally I don't like seeing Macum players in bars in Newcastle, especially when they're larging it. They play for Sunderland they should keep away from the place their supporters, the people who pay their vast salaries, so despise. -

Probably true. Middlesbrough isn't a city of course. -
........... managed by scumbag. They deserve each other. Might take another earthquake mind.
-
I would love it if that was true! Interesting that they flew them into London, instead of directly into Newcastle - avoid getting their hopes up that way: "Oh class, we're on our way to the toon", "er no, actually lads....." Even by Roy Keane's normal standards of transfer bollocks this is hilarious.

Yesterday Sky Sports ran a headline along it's news bar that Mike Ashley's company's earnings were down. What could they be trying to say ? Given that people involved with football clubs probably own hundreds of businesses outside of football, can we now expect Sky Sports to be bringing us earnings reports for all such companies ? -
Saw his debut and most games he played thereafter, as well as playing for Scotland at Wembley when he was at Blackpool. Scotland were captained by Bobby Moncur that day. Had his own chant - "He's here he's there, he's every ferking where Tony Green, Tony Green" Dyson who went the to Blackpool in the transfer was a canny forward and also ended up as a teacher post football. Green was superb, but not the best player I've seen in a B&W shirt, for me that would be Gazza followed by Beardsley next.

Well said mate, but you know that logic and Newcastle supporters, and especially logic and N-O posters don't always go together.
