I've decided the best form of protest is to boycott Sunderland matches from now on, judging by their gate against Man City it seems like quite a few are taking this form of action.
-
Warner telling it as it really is then. I've decided to boycott all Sunderland games from now on (except when they play Newcastle)
-
At last an original idea !
-
Apparently it derives from the Globe theatre in London during the 16th century. If the play was deemed boring or sub standard the audience broke into a chorus of "Sack the bard, sack the bard, sack the bard......"

Anyone who feels it necessary to protest about Keegan's resignation tomorrow, could you please chant something more original and feasible than "Sack the board". We've been singing it since the 60s when we wanted Lord Westwood removed and it has been heard at regular intervals ever since despite not having any affect whatsoever. To people around the UK it's as much a Newcastle tradition as the Blaydon Races or Local Hero. Frankly it doesn't even make sense, although now for the first time that we have an owner who is not on the board perhaps he could actually sack them, but as most of the angry mob seem to blame him for everything, sacking the board probably wouldn't appease them as it's the owner they're after, despite being the only person in the history of our club to invest significant amounts of his OWN cash into ensuring the club's survival. "Sack the owner, sack the owner, sack the owner....................

Because we've beaten them all Barca and Inter topping my list then i was about to dive in two footed and say we never beat inter. (NE5 would have had a field day) It was 2-2 that day iirc and they trashed us 1-4 at home!! We beat them in the 60`S or something I think. Or you could just swap Inter with Juve we beat them in the 60's. thats what i meant by NE5 would've done me. I was there. 60,000 in St.James' and the Leazes End a cauldron of ear splitting noise. To this day I have never seen anyone subjected to such physical violence on a pitch as Wyn Davies received from the Inter and Italy full back Fachetti that night. Typical Wyn he just got on with the job with lots of courage and little fuss. A true legend.

St.Pauli are probably the only team I take an interest in apart from Newcastle. Despite a few bad years the ground is still packed every game, always a great atmosphere and a great city to go out in after the match. Also like Brann and Athletic Bilbao.

ive been trying to get this exact point across for ages. What are people actually protesting about? Keegan resigning and walking out on us (again) I think. There again maybe it's about Directors of Football interfering with managers running of clubs e.g Dennis Wise interfering with Keegan's role, or possibly Keegan interfering with Ray Wilkins role in another club or something like that.

With the current trend towards continental coaches will the Manager of the Month award be scrapped in favour of a Director of Football of the Month. Anyone for Dennis ? -
More pompous tosh from self appointed Newcastle spokespeople.

I can't imagine anyone was sicker than myself when it was confirmed Keegan had left, mind I'm sure most were equally sick. One of the main reasons for being so down was that I believed Keegan fit into a structure which was designed to bring financial stability and playing success to us at last. But Keegan walked, he wasn't fired, he CHOSE to leave rather than fight his corner and after leaving chose only to speak through the LMA in carefully worded statements designed to preserve his right to compensation. Could the furore have been any greater if he had been fired ? I have met Keegan and he is an awesome man, it's a huge pity that he can't be instrumental in Newcastle's future and use his immense motivational skills to our benefit but having supported Newcastle for half a century and seen no domestic success, foolish previous regimes trying to bankrupt the club squandering tens of millions on trophy signings and managers who failed, I'm prepared to go with the new way and hope foundations for lasting stability and success can be built and who knows perhaps even win a trophy im my lifetime. I wish Keegan could be part of it but he chose to leave so I guess we just have to get on without him. -
ffs man!! sing your heart out for the team! that as well! I have a feeling Ashley will be there.

Born within earshot of the bells of St.Mary le Bow church in Cheapside in the city of London makes you a cockney. The rest of them are Londoners or southerners. Fans of Arsenal, Chelsea etc call West Ham fans cockney tw@ts. We seem to refer to all Londoners as cockneys, but I suppose they probably refer to macums and smoggies as Geordies.

Cannot help myself, but can't understand that blind loyalty at all. Supporting the players? Do you think they support Mikey. People argued the same way, after the appointment of Souness and Fat Sam... Did it help? No. So you would rather put a further dent in the players' confidence, make the Hull match conditions even more difficult, hence risk losing the 3 points, and possibly more if we go on a bad run, just so you can let big ol' bad Mikey know that ur upset with him? I think Ashley already knows how the fans feel. Going to the game, Hull or any other for that matter, is purely to support that which is the most important thing in all of this, Newcastle United. You're right I think Ashley will have got the message by now somehow, protest may make some fans feel better but it isn't going to change much. The people who stand to gain most from a boycott are Sky TV and the media, most of whom hate NUFC, they're licking their lips in anticipation of it and all the newsreel it will fill for weeks. I say turn up, fill the ground, support the team and shout at or about Ashley or anyone else if it makes you feel better.
-
Do you go to the match (Newcastle I mean) monkey ? Cos if you don't actually go you can't really boycott it.
-
I heard that the US government finance department were supporting Terry Mac and would take him over if necessary ??

The treatment of SBR was much worse that the way KK was treat. Whatever was wrong with the set up in Keegan's eyes it was his choice to walk rather than to stay on and fight the system he opposed.

Quite probably. There is a lot of that going on in the local and national media at the moment. Now I've read it, it reads like a Sky Sports fan interview totally lob sided and looking for the obvious answer. It's bad enough having national TV insulting our intelligence but when a local newspaper starts doing the same................................ -
Dead right we need to be supporting our team more than ever right now. Also imagine if a hostile crowd or meagre home support helped Hull to win on Saturday and in May next year we were 3 points short of a European place or even worse relegated by 1 or 2 points with the mackems 2 points above us.

It does appear that Wise is a very easy target for the lynch mob and the press because of his "previous". Everything publically stated by him or Keegan up until last week would indicate the problem was not between them. -
Wish he'd been able to mediate between Keegan and the board and we may have avoided this mess. Would be a great fans representative to te club.
-
And what would be new about that? f*** them, f*** Sky, f*** the players, f*** Asshley and Co it is about time we stood up for ourselves and put ourselves first. I don't need to justify my support for my club by cheering on the players or turning up at the match, buying merchandise, wearing my colors etc. and neither do any of us so whatever we do our support for NUFC can never be in question or deemed unsupportive FFS. A full on boycott would send shockwaves throughout the world of football and would gain worldwide support from rival fans. I feel this is about the state of the game too and not just NUFC, as I'm sick of how both are being ran. If there is a full house as normal and just chants against Ashley I for one will give up hope in us as fans as this is a real opportunity for us to once and for all say enough is enough. Enjoy your boycott it's your choice. As usual I'll be working this week, having a few pints and going to the match to support my team, the same team I've supported for decades. I might have a bit protest while I'm there. i think its wise's team, no It may be Wise's team to you mate but it's our team to me. Anyway some that shouting for a boycott don't actually attend the match. Shouldn't a pre-requisite of a boycott be that you actually attend in the first place ?
-
I saw that - it's like the graffiti equivalent of a Sky interview. Can't people protest without desecrating our city and stadium, or if they must at least do it properly !
-
Pity Ashley didn't have the £100 million he had to pay off the debt, I wonder what Keegan would have been able to do with half that? Crazy how the man who has put more of his personal wealth into NUFC than anyone becomes more despised than those who went before him and took money out. He really has fecked up ! Also funny that when Bobby Robson was stabbed in the back there was so little uproar but when Keegan walks (maybe rightly so) there is huge uproar. It's funny how things work in football. I'm sure you'll be happy for him if it turns out in the next few weeks he will have made a 100% profit on us in just over a year.. I dont give a flying f*ck about him or any other individual, I only care about Newcastle United.

I wonder why he didn't throw a "wobbler" after being pissed on by Villa last season, I'd say that was worse then losing to Chelsea or Arsenal. What about 1-5 at home to Man U or 3-0 away to Liverpool, Everton away wasn't any better. The characteristic of the Chelsea and Arsenal games were that they were a bringing down to earth after a period of optimism. We were starting to believe again, and then we were put in our place. Like I said, I think Keegan is vulnerable to mood swings. Just a bit !
