It's not so much that he is terrible. More that he would only be added the squad and isn't the type of striker we need. I'm much more happy about it if he comes in with doumbia. Gomis would certainly be more a lovenkrands/best signing than a harewood/kuqui if we get him. I think he would contribute if called upon and would probably surprise a few. Should in noway be coming in to dislodge Mitro though, I hope.

I am working on the foolish but only logical explanation that we are bringing Doumbia in as well. Gomis will compete with Mitro and replace permacrock Cisse. There was talk of loaning Riviere out to Forest a while back wasn't there. A run somewhere else in the UK would make a lot of sense. Wouldn't Riviere be the player to compete with Mitro though ? Doumbia most definitely in as the rapid/finisher player. As of right now he is, but I don't think there is anyone here that has any belief he could actually compete with Mitro. Better to loan him out to a championship side so he can actually get games and the proper chance to adapt to English football, bring Gomis in as cover. Doumbia would gives us something we have missed since Martins..but hopefully with a bit more intelligence. Worrying he hasn't played in a while though, don't know how long it would take him to get match fit.

Much rather we bid 7m for Gayle and Swansea kept Gomis tbh.
-
Seriously no point unless it's a loan and we get doumbia. Even so underwhelming to the extreme.
-
Not least because he hasn't played in two months.might get him match fit for March.
-
Well with Toney out for months, cisse permcrocked and riviere permanent shit I would rule out bringing them both in. If we get doumbia I could handle gomis as back up for Mitro. But can't see swansea loaning him and him wanting to exchange benches.

The desperate hope of a new thread for old hopeful news. Fingers crossed.
-
That and a not finding a better alternative to gomis if we get him. To be fair to him. Gomis wasn't such a bad option 5/6 years ago.

Doumbia is closer to what we need. Pace, power and versatility. Seems a bit like oberfemi from the limited amount I have seen. In a way he might be better for us in the short term than berahino and might work better with Mitro. Also reported to have a great character and attitude on the training ground and towards other players. Gomis brings next to nothing. A slight upgrade on Shola, won't compliment Mitro at all. Would be a massive failure if we end up there.
-
Rather Gayle than Gomis. But both smack of desperation and would be a complete failure in achieving our number one target for the last few windows.
-
Honestly can't see us getting gomis, surely agent talk to drive up price. If we aren't going all out to get the best striker possible then we might as well stick with what we have and get relegated. This has been a need for how many windows? Zero excuses.

It comes at a good time for perez as we have run him into the ground. He obviously won't necessarily see losing a starting spot that way but he needs a rest.
-
Good luck to him, always liked him off the pitch. Served us well in his first two years, should have been shifted after that.
-
Aye. Happy for him to go for now and get games. Can't see him coming back but hopefully he does.
-
He's definitely injured. Was out in town with his Auntie Sunday and was asking how things were going for him. Siem didn't injure himself witnessing it? A Miracle. Maybe he has new powers to pass on his bad injury luck to others.. stick him with Colback and Gouffran for a few weeks.
-
Still need a Striker, LB and CB though. I accepted the fact we wont get any defenders but someone that WILL finish chances is the difference between championship and premiership.
-
It's like the majority of decisions made by our people in charge. It means nothing at the end of the day - but makes us look unnecessarily stupid, irking and alienating sections of our fanbase again. Small meaningless things except the add up over time.
-
Wow. This is going to be even messier than Leeds. Literally our entire first 11 will have to go, likely at a fraction of what we have just paid for half of them. Only people from our starting 11 I can see staying are Colback, Colo and Dummett. We will get nowt for them.
-
So there to get Saylor, Aarons and Riviere up to speed fitness wise. The rest will never make an impact on our first team. Actually thats wide of the mark.. they might have to in the championship. As mentioned its no big deal losing a training match for fitness. Except we made it public against our bitter rivals and now look like a bunch of tards. Why on earth did we big them out of all the possible opponents.
-
When he was here he oozed more class than any striker we have had here in the past 10 years imo. He instantly made our team look better, created space and was clever with his passing and movement. He is technically gifted on the ball. Only concern would be if we get a fit and motivated Remy.
-
I don't think we will drop Mitro so easily either. Think it would also be the start of a cabella/thauvin end if we do. We will break any confidence he is building.
-
Can't see him leaving Lundun town but he would be what we need. Can play up top or be fantastic out wide too. He clearly doesn't think of us as anything but a fallback. That said he will play for money and has always been professional on the pitch even if he has no attachment to the clubs he plays for.
