Knew it wouldn't be long if townsend was incoming. We simply can't afford to lose Moussa this window.
-
Good chunk of change considering his actual realistic value. Makes me feel better about over spending on shelvey and potentially townsend. Tiote 8m --> 4m Townsend 12m --> 6m Shelvey 12m--> 8m It's a mad mad world. I will miss the best of him and the beast he once was, but also remember how long ago and rare that consistent form was. At 29 we have done ok. He could have stayed and been possibly useful but life goes on.

Like Cabella, looks like we will never know with Thauvin which is frustrating to say the least I trust the judgement of the staff that work with him every day. Maybe he is just as shit at the training ground and hasn't settled. I'm ok with us cutting loses if he clearly isn't suited to the league and won't settle. It is however just another damning indictment of our scouting and Recruitment skills though. Also going to make mclaren look even more stupid after the we do and will continue to stand behind Thauvin less than two weeks ago. I like Townsend. I think for that money we should be able to get better but I think he will hit the ground running and take his chance with us if we get him and we need Pace. It should both give perez a rest and Aarons time to grow into the team but also competition for them both. I have always liked what I have seen of townsend tbh. It's a worry he is so far from match fit though. We need someone now.

Tbh I think I saw more potential from Cabella. Thauvin looks a bit more suited physically but has really shown nothing to get me excited. Neither, skills combined, hold a candle to Hatem. Still cannot believe we got rid. Thauvin has shown the skills in France, but is clearly a confidence player and that won't be improved without a decent chance and run in the team. There is always a fair amount of fans hoping he will come good in time, which he might. It is certainly not the first time it has taken a foreigner to settle in a new league. Ultimately pride is one thing that also makes people want to keep him. If we get rid its just another transfer that makes us look like complete mugs. Again not convinced Townsend is the answer like many but would certainly offer more from what Thauvin has shown.

Could that mean Cabella will return to NUFC once his loan ends? Do we get to keep his Mrs? Cabella has already passed and activated the buy clause. He won't be back and we certainly don't want him if we put that in his loan agreement. Total disgrace neither player was given a true chance in the team. Expert character scouting, should have known their confidence levels were too fragile to cope here if things got rough.

Look like they are crawling out as usual. They won't go down. We need to start picking up points to make sure their final league position isn't at our expense.

The optimist in me says keep keep keep. He has looked great since coming back into the team and he could have a part to play here yet. The realist in me says he is 29 and has had essentially two or three good games in nearly three years. He has the tools to be a major player for us. Don't think there are many people that would put him behind colback either. 8m is a bit hard to turn down on the hope he might suddenly turn up every week when we aren't playing big teams. Past form shows little to support the optimism. I love cheik but probably time to cash in.

I'm only worried we are predominantly being linked with strikers that are lone target men. We already gave that imo. Think Mitro will be boosted by the goal and raring to go on Saturday.
-
Remy staying at Chelski til the summer. Insert sad face here: Think we have to go domestic. Think Austin is too similar to mitrovic to play alongside him long term but would be short term boost. Personally I'd rather we stuck we Mitro. We need someone to compliment him that could play alongside him and also hold his own as needed. Going foreign is a too big a gamble imo.
-
More worried about perez suffering tbh. Mitro is always improving imo. Another striker is important but not another target man, rather someone that can both hold his own and Compliment Mitro. Remy can do that.
-
Tin hat on* Other than the obvious, thought he was better tonight. Some half decent diagonal passes. That said hard to see him get worse. Has to be dropped for shelvey/saviet.

At the cotton wool store, lost track of time.
-
Considering he is only still acclimatizing to the league and country he looks head and tails above when he is on..so does sissoko but gini has a step above in intelligence and skill. Huge huge player for us but as mentioned needs to be more consistent, he is not alone.
-
Personally thought it was a nice touch to have Ketsbaia there to greet him and turn over bald nufc tips and advice. Changing of the guard and all.
-
Me too think he will change us. Hopefully another 2/3 to come. Remy and a CB/LB preferably. Won't turn my nose up at Townsend though. Could be the missing link on the left.
-
If Townsend is coming in it probably safe to say we are shifting sissoko this window. I think that's a big gamble. While andros is probably a much better and natural winger our right side works fine with sissoko and Janmaat, could be dangerous changing our only tracking outlet that works. That said maybe he wants to deploy townsend on the left.
-
Amdy anad Abdoulaye pissed all over colback and Anita tbf.
-
We will drop a striker or defender to accommodate Colback don't worry. Wijnaldum Sissoko Colback Shelvey Saviet Honestly I am not sure. I can't see him dropping Colback. Hopefully replace Colback with Perez and use Gini as #10. If he ever stays fit Aarons would be in with a shout too. Still not sure why I am entertaining ideas. I am still sure he isn't coming.
-
Could be our Kevin Nolan or our Alan Smith. Let's hope he is our Jonjo Shelvey and he excels here if he comes. If he turns up to play he will become a cult figure here very quickly. Still expecting him to turn us down tbh.
-
Not to worry everyone..we don't need to debate his attitude or how e would do for us. He wants to move to London apparently, can see him turning us down quickly.
-
Saviet will be the shelvey fallback. Remy will be plan be if we don't get a permenant deal for an overhyped but ultimate flop forward. By the time we realize plan a b and c won't happen Remy will likely be at another club. Can't really afford to go foreign this window imo. We need proven and tested in this league.

x100 Pardew is utter wank, entirely dislikeable and his track record show that he can't cope at clubs past two seasons. Despite contrary opinion from outside of the club, no Newcastle fan should need telling how much he and his staff ruined this club alongside Ashley and co. That said, sometimes clubs work, fit and click for managers or players, maybe Palace is that club for him somehow. He inherited a good squad and in something akin to Ketsbaia taking over here, got full support from Palace fans as he was a former player. Something he never had here and his track record never afforded him anything but blind hope things might turn out ok. We are still waiting for manager that clicks. Hughton clicked on many levels with the fans and had things going on the pitch imo, for me the last time we looked like being consistently dangerous and free flowing in attack was under Hughton. SBR and King Kev are the only others in my lifetime that have taken the hotseat.

The raptures already happened.. being a newcastle fan is part of purgatory before the true end. The return of JFK.

They are hurting just the same as the fans and sick of it. Difference is you are paid to fucking do something about that. Classic empathizing with the aggrieved to get the heat off your back when you are the root cause.

Palace will win the FA Cup. It's destined to finish off our relegation season.
