Been a pleasant surprise and deserves some kudos. If he loses the rest of the christmas munchies from his waist he might jump slightly higher.
-
Would be delighted with Shelvey tbh. Townsend on loan I could live with, not convinced he is a huge upgrade but happy to be proved wrong, likewise happy we could send him back if he doesn't work out for us. Not getting a LB and CB is suicide. Quite frankly a Striker too. We are up shit creek right now and I don't see our current lot picking up enough points to do anything more than scrap to avoid relegation if they can.
-
Some great breaking up of play, tackles and general putting himself all over the pitch. One of the best performances from him as a DM imo. Too far and few inbetween.
-
had one nice run and excellent cross. Generally was much closer to 50/50 in terms of a) going backwards/positive forward play b) giving away the ball/completing a pass and retaining possession c) fouling/winning the ball. I'd call that a progress.

Newcastle United 0 - 1 Everton - 26/12/15 - Post-match reaction from page 19

This really bar the so unlucky. You make your luck sometimes and we didn't play til the final whistle. Our defence was still absolutely comical at times. Mainly, but not exclusively from the midfields inability to mark players in our box but also the complete lack of pace and overall skill of dummett. Anita as you say had a great second half and so so first. Much better. Perez was off virtually all night. Hard to fully judge mitrovic om the one chance we actually created for him all game He should have buried it though. Desperately need a left wing that works like the right and a central mid to replace colback and probably Anita. -
Shocking and sad news. Sending Love to him and his family. One of the biggest characters I've seen at the club and so much passion for the club, fans and area in general. Hang in there and get better pav.
-
In comparison Anita played well but I am still not convinced by him, however likeable. Cant Carttermole actually do something useful and break his leg or something next time we play. I used to think he was average and worthy of a squad place but he has actually got far far worse than average. Absolute turd. Contributes absolutely nothing positive.
-
Absolutely wasted at LM. Has to come in and replace colback. Will likely eventually come inside and replace Anita.
-
Good shift, beat his man several times and a couple of good crosses. Basically everything we are missing playing a cm on the wing. Time to drop colback and push Gini back inside.
-
Hoping he continues to improve with fitness. He can be useful for us. That said. Fucking horrific miss that should have given us 3 hugely important points. Let's hope those two or three points that would have been gained on relegation teams/villa won't cost us our premiership status come may.
-
Utter utter turd. LB and CB are huge priorities for the third window in a row.

Newcastle United 1-1 Aston Villa - Official Thread (post match from pg25)

And back to the relegation dog fight we go Don't know what McClaren has to be laughing about. Utter s****. There for the taking, granted conditions didn't help but we helped villa back into the game by sitting back and not turning up at the start of the second half. Colback, dummett and Colo simply HAVE to be replaced. -
We're also playing central midfielders in wide areas. But agree with you generally. Wingers shouldn't be a priority. LB and a CB are more of a priority but if we are planning on putting Gini and Sissoko back into the centre we need another winger. I wouldn't be too dissapointed with Townsend. We miss pace on the break, while he isn't the be all end all Townsend is an upgrade on what we have. Agree that a LB and CB have to come first though.

Newcastle United 2-0 Liverpool - 6/12/15 post match reaction from page 24

Absolutely the bottom line. Shows them up completely. None more so than sissoko who was magnificent at both ends of the pitch. No excuses here and it can't be highlighted enough. The players are fucking this up as much as the coaches who apparently can't keep them motivated. -

Do it every week then everyone's a winner. -
That minute you accept Ashley is on a wind up and McClaren is in on it. This club.. fucking take it to the vets and put it down already.
-
Likely the only chance we have of someone getting a hatrick this season bar more wijnaldum heroics.
-
Aye this is a good point. Also, anybody with the necessary charisma and courage that would motivate the players wouldn't work with our board/Ashley Not least when the previous manager is on the fucking board.
-
Would we get more than a million for him? - get him the fuck out if so. Better bringing in kids at this stage.
-
Fuck me, forgot he was on the board. Truly fooked. He and his team are out of their depth. At least Steve Black is cool Craic. Done a sterling job with his two appointments prior too, can see why he was an immediate choice for the team.

Crystal Palace 5-1 Newcastle United - 28/11/15 (post-match from p. 26)

the championship To be honest I wouldn"t mind if the games were all watchable online or on TV. Really though. Sacking McClaren seems highly unlikely. Nothing he is doing is working, we are still on the same path to oblivion Pardew and Co. Set us on. -

Where are we supposed to go from here? Honestly. What do we do. -

Some positions and managers gel. Sometimes completely against the balance of quality. Pardew was never right from the start, we got ridiculously lucky at times. McClaren felt slightly better from the start but ultimately doesn't look like working either. McLaren career is littered with this scenario, majority of positions just haven't worked. On the upside just a year and a half left on his contract. -

As much as we need what you're advocating any such figure would look at this shower of s**** excuse for a squad and want a new one. That is the reality regardless. McClaren has said as much since he took over. If we are spending 150m I'd expect a complete new squad. Problem at the moment is the first 50m either is or has been made look as shit as what we already have. -

I said it, thousands said it. We needed an appointment that had charisma that could inspire confidence in the fans and city as well as players. A name that commanded respect. We went another route. It hasn't and doesn't look like working out. The mindset is fucked at the club. Unless we spend the money to get a high calibre coach with the above skillset to replace McClaren we will find the same problem. Which will take an average coach at best a year to turn around.
