Before Bothroyd's purple patch this season he was mediocre even by Championship standards. To be fair Shola was utter dog shit with Stoke. Regardless I would prefer Shola over Bothroyd. Its a smart move by the morons up top. They will have offered him a contract that is at least half what he gets now, then when he turns it down they at least look like they have tried to keep a player they have wanted to offload almost since they got here. Whilst I can't see him accepting the kind of wage cut we will demand, I dont see alot of clubs paying him too much more than we will. I think he is pretty settled, despite my earlier negativity I would hope we can find some middle ground. He is our most influential player right now.

Released this summer? Any real info or just judging by your self? Nowhere near the first team, been at the club for a while now, seems to have stagnated. No real info, but I'd put money on him leaving this summer. Would explain why we havent loaned him out then. Shame, think everyone had high hopes for him given his England U17 record, didnt really make the same impact when he stepped up to the U19's, still thought he was rated amongst coaching staff.

Contrary to club sources dismissing the link already, assuming these reports are true you would have hoped we would have done our homework on the guy to the point that he must be fine playing alongside him again. Prefer him to Larsson, quicker and offers something a little different to what we have on the right. Tidy feet, creative and reasonably quick. Larsson is probably better with set pieces.

I remember the time we signed the "New Rooney" in Aaron Spears. How is he doing in our youth team? The last thing we need is another young striker, granted we should be signing up and coming talent but we have that in Ranger, Carroll and hopefully the likes of Donaldson. We desperately need someone upfront thats tried, tested and reliable. We can retain one of Best, Shola, Lovenkrands, Xisco as back up this summer but the rest need replacing.
