  1. He has the potential, but is much like Bramble at the opposite end of the pitch. Im happy having him as a 4th choice striker. Like HTT said he has done well under Roeder. We need to be buying quality to have the players we already have pushed down the pecking order. Shola will likely never be a 20 goals a season striker let alone more than that, but he will be a decent squad player for us. He has as much chance playing for england as Bramble does.
  2. came from the chronicle didnt it? Davies would be a good bet, Pearson knows him as good as anyone he has played and played well in the premiership. Its not as though he is un-proven. Alot of money though, would also leave us STILL needing an experienced Leader.
  3. Id agree on trying to get Baines or Bridge in preference. Gejon is quite right, although there would be many positives in the signing, it would take but one or two bad performances and the usual wolves would be in on the lamb for an all you can eat career long special. He will have to live with the pressure where ever he goes though.
  4. I think he is pretty carefull with what he says, he has to be. He does talk sense, but like you say for the most part he never says much we dont know or havent heard before. He is right to down play speculation and expectations about transfers and is right that we have to pick exactly the right people. But at the same time I think he is piling more pressure on himself and especially the players he does actually buy. I still rate Roeder as one of the better managers around for talking sense and conducting himself well, although you would be hard pressed to find anyone that does all the time.

    David Edgar

Needs wrapping in cotton wool though, much like Hunty.. they could do with some loan spells in a championship side if we can ever get some better depth and cover in defence to allow that to happen. Ramage has lost the plot this season and needs a rest, we just need more bodies in. Edgar has looked decent so far, but it will damage him if we have to play him too much.
  6. Would be more bothered if Milner, Martins, dyer or Solano got injured tbh. Harper is easily good enough, and im glad he is actually getting a chance.
  7. Would rule us out of bidding, it is a stupidly high amount, but as some people have said its a long term investment. We are looking at a player that can give 10+ years service, is extremely talented, can get better and will increase in value. Certainly as good a prospect as bringing Woodgate in was, and a better proposition than Boum. That said, Id say it was more likely to be Spurs, Villa, West Ham maybe even Pompey that was bidding.

    Collins John

Surley Lee Clark will know about him, first or second hand from Fulham? Im sure we have looked at him. A loan deal would suit us, but I think he is one of the players Roeder thinks potentially we could be lumbered with. To me he looks like a cheap version of Darren Bent, quite similar in style and would fit in ok here, certainly give us decent cover. But if he is as much trouble as has been reported then theres your reason for us not buying him so far. Personally id gamble, but we dont have a clue what he is like and what damage he could create in the dressing room.
  9. Hope the guy manages to break through, although it would seem unlikely given the competition ahead of him.
  10. Would be the new Kluivert. Half the board would have hope the old form and would return and live on the fact "we will get him motivated". The other half would be on his back from the start. That said if he was motivated I wouldnt mind for a year or so.
  11. Tabloids in not telling the truth shocker! It just brings a bit of interest to the day, I bloody hate transfer windows, not as much as the Mrs though.
  12. Geez, knee Jerk reaction mania. OMG we must be selling Taylor and N'Zogbia too!
  13. I got the distinct and disturbing feeling if we are getting him here Roeder doesnt want him to play in midfield.
  14. Absolutely, you got a sizeable amount of money for him too. Thats a common manager pitfull, knowing when a player is finished rather than thinking, nah give me a crack at him, I think i can make him good again. Although Redknapp and Allardyce could work wonders yet.
  15. Ridiculous decision, he finally had Scotland going in the right direction and now deserts them for a club side. I know he has a huge love of Rangers but I dont get it, they are hardly in relegation type trouble. What a waste of Scottish Footballs time.
  16. I havent even hinted anything about Emre. I just think Beckham would turn out to be largely disspointing the majority of the time. Its the same situation with England last year, play SWP's/Lennon or Beckham. Personally I think the former two offer alot more. We have Milner, Dyer and quite possibly SWP's in the summer if we want him. And no i dont think im wrong in saying Beckham has gone missing in games, jogging around a pitch where the majority walk in Spain doesnt make him able to handle the premiership again, especially at his age. He has class but it comes at a cost IMO, not saying I would object to having on the team sheet though.
  17. Depends what you would rather have, someone that grafts consistently for the team but isnt spectacular. Or Beckham who will turn it on for a handfull of games, probably win a few for us but be largely dissapointing for the rest of the time. If he comes back over here he will have a few great games and the pundits will higlight his good points and say "he's still got it" Not worth it for the wages IMO.
  18. Quite highly rated in Italy, especially at Inter. U21 CB that can cover RB. Obviously not dislodging Samuel or Matterazzi. Think he wants to go to Torino though, and it would make more sense for Inter to send him to an Italian team.
  19. Is he actually a Spuds player or is he still on loan. Too dangerous to buy but if he really is having problems with Jol, which I can believe given his history added to the lack of oppurtunities this year, I would have a go taking him on loan. If he really is that bad to control its hardly a problem if he is on loan, although I cant see why he should be a problem on loan when he will be trying to impress.
  20. He has been waiting all week to do it. He will drag out the excuses until we do sign someone then claim all the credit as usual. We were going to sign players the every other day in the summer, if it wasnt the first time he had done it this year I think less people would have bitten.
  21. Nearer Scotland, its where all the celebs strive to be. Damn those strict schedules...
  22. Possibly the most intelligent comments he has come out with in a while. Fair play.
