  1. The news everyone has been wanting to hear. Although he hasnt exactly said anything other than how well he has played at RB, the rest is just the usual journalist conjecture. A new RB is needed but it can certainly wait until the summer. Im happy with Nobby there, I think it will certainly push carr either out of the club or to up his game to the standard he can play at. Ramage and Taylor maybe even Hunty and Edgar could probably do a solid job there if needs must. CB, LB and Strikers are our main priority for this window. Finding the right CB will be hard aswell so if it waits until the summer for us to get the right man then so be it, the youngsters need as much guidence from Roeder and Pearson as possible though.
  2. Bent without a doubt. Will get more goals than Crouch and brings something different to what we have (although Crouch would too).
  3. Liking it so far.. they need to put the poison dwarf on really.
  4. Muamba was very good I thought. True about the inexperience but at least they have been playing together for the majority of the season. All credit to them, although its too easy to take the 1 man advantage for granted we should have finished the game mind..
  5. On the face of it a draw would have been predictable, and i would have taken it before hand. But we should have beaten them easily and scored several in the second half. Disspointing, but all credit to Birmingham. Good performances from Milner, Dyer, Martins, Butt and Solano. The rest were found wanting but thats not a suprise given their experience. Not a replay we need given the fixtures we have to put up with already, but I think more than not most would take it over going out. Birmingham might well be alot weaker come the replay, bendtner, kelly out and Radi suspended... but where will we be for players at that time? Over to you fat man and Glen.

    Aaron Hughes

I dont understand why so many people want him back, he was average for us at best. Dont get me wrong i like hughes, he did a solid job wherever we put him. But was certainly no less error prone than Taylor or Ramage. I was a little upset he left, but when he did leave the opinion was it wouldnt be too hard to get anyone better. Its only the fact that we didnt invest in Fullbacks properly that makes people think Hughes might be good if we got him back. The same people would go off their nut if we signed the likes of Melchiot, some people myself included would be upset with Luke Young. Because neither are that much better than Carr. If we are going to get sentimental and demand we sign a former player, could it at least be someone good.

not much better than Ramage, Huntingdon or Edgar. decent squad player, but we already have the above three.
  8. Im sorry, but that wont even buy you Amady Fayes sides, let alone his soft centre.
  9. To be fair if we managed to buy a LB and a couple of cut price loans/buys i would be more than happy. I dont even expect us to manage more than one or two signings probably in the wrong places aswell.
  10. Good move and well deserved, if anything it gives us the right to hold out for more money should anyone be properly bidding for him. His adaptability will be key over the next couple of months, lets hope his game also continues to improve.
  11. Well i guess Charlton's thinking (which is a gamble) is if he was fit he wouldnt be for sale. So clubs interested have a chance to get him now or not at all. With him being out up to five weeks and them desperately needing him, they would be better off getting good money for him now and buying in a couple of players that can help them out as soon as possible to avoid relegation. Which clubs would buy an injured player Spurs certainly would, It didnt stop them with Malbranque, didnt real buy woodgate amidst an injury? If our situation wasnt so desperate I think we would aswell, maybe we still will. If he stays comes back and has a blinder there will be a few clubs that might get him now that wont be able to in the summer. Alternatively the gamble is they get relegated because they cant bring anyone in to cover him then have to sell him in the summer anyway.
  12. Skirgey, Skirgey, Skirgey... yes.
  13. Well that about ends that. We wont be buying anyone thats injured, no matter how good he is. Not least if we can get him cheaper in the summer, which we will if they go down.
  14. He is a player that would play for the club in the long term though, one of the highest rated strikers in the country with bags of time and potential for us to squander. At £8m a decent investment, despite what we should have had him for before. I would imagine Charlton are holding out for nearer £12m though.
  15. Good player a couple of seasons ago, I havent seen much of him since. Wasnt he club captain aswell?
  16. He would cost around the same price as Crouch.. Although Crouch is more of a hold up player than Bent.. but Bent will certainly get you more goals. He is big, strong, powerfull and Pacey but maybe not exactly the type of player we want, he would bring a different element to our attack though. I dont particularly think Crouch is what we really need either. Out of the two I would plum for Bent. The mere thought we could have had either for peanuts a few years ago is cringing though.
  17. Obviously we dont need major signings we just need signings that work. Loan options really arent that bad if they are good enough. Certainly the CB we need to bring in permenantly has to be the right man, a leader, organiser and experienced. Hard to find, so why waste money on Distin or Upson to not live up to the hype. The problem is we need to be planning for both really or as is most likely to happen, we will stick to our targets until the end of the month, at which stage realising we cant get them there is no one left decent enough to loan. Eternal optimist, I do trust Roeder to get in the players we need, but i have been hurt before..
  18. Milner wont be too bothered he can play anywhere across the midfield, and is as good on the left as he is on the right. I dont see us getting SWP's though, it wouldnt be a suprise to see us splash out on another luxury signing though.
  19. Lawro? Well I agree with the first sentance. We might well bid for SWP's on loan but we are not selling Milner, however much they want him to go on to be another young talent wasted at Newcastle.

    Stephen Carr

That and what ohmelads said is what I think of Carr. Though, for some reason, when you read it, you just read "Towelie rates Carr". That's why you're idiots, not because you hate him. ohmelads and I our Idiots? Anyways I have always maintained its motivation thats stopped Carr here, If there really was competition at this club for RB (someone that Roeder wouldnt drop automatically when Carr was "Fit") then you would see a different player. Although he has had good games for us in Europe this season, like him or not.
  21. Out of them all I have seen the most of David Nugent. I really think he would be a good purchase not only for his age, his talented with enormous scope and time for improvement and would happily sit back on the bench and learn when Owen is back. Certainly as good as Ameobi, although the testing time will be when he does actually get to play in the premiership. He is different to the players we already have, although isnt the big strong striker that the majority (myself included) currently crave. His price might be too much though and better buys could be had in numbers for the amount being bandied about.
  22. Tevez looks a talent no doubt, you can see the class, im suprised he hasnt had more time on the pitch. Just shows off the pitch maybe something is wrong as Curbishley is treating him no different to Pardew. Tevez blasted out in the press of his dislike of Pardew and his management, for the wages he is on and the way he has been hyped up it wouldnt suprise me if he believed his hype a bit too much. I cant see either player staying much longer although they may last the season.
  23. You mean linked to us right? I dont think he would be alright, certainly good back up when everyone is back, but if his attitude is as bad as suggested he wont have any part of sitting on the bench.
  24. Shame he could have taken us back the glory days.. Good catch for Rangers... ..oh no wait... Fat Fred will love it though, just goes to show Foreign manager with no idea of the history of the club and the culture of the area yada yada...
  25. Collins John would be a decent signing, quick and strong, not really the kind of hold up striker that we need, more akin to Darren Bent.. but would work with Martins IMO. Not sure he would be content with sitting on the bench when Owen is back though and we will surely sign a bigger stronger hold up player like viduka that would take his place. More likely to end up at Watford where he can be king of the castle.
