The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
Nicky replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
So we've agreed a fee and now need to convince the player to come here? Good luck with that one -
I'll officially retire from life if that happens. Not even on the bench today. 5 live speculating that he's played his last game for the club. Hmmmm Hopefully it's to Villa or someone. He's a cunt, and add to that, he cant form a decent partnership with Defoe. No thanks. "Harry Redknapp is a cheeky, tapping up cunt..." (PA Sport 1616 GMT)" FYP... That too Just reminding KD that he's gonna retire from life if this happens, as I said it may a week ago.

Heard the other day indirectly, but from Harry Redknapp that; He thinks he can get Cudicini for £2m (this was before the papers picked up on it today), doesnt trust Alnwick or Cesar at all, if Villa want Bent then "I'll fucking drive him there myself" and also went off on one again about how his wife would have put it in (this was just after the game at the weekend where he missed that sitter ), and he seriously thinks he can get Robbie Keane back for £5m cheaper then they sold him for, to partner with Defoe. Was meant to post this on monday, but forgot. Might have had a bit more credibillity then. Oh well.

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Somewhat promising comment from the "antinufc" paper the Daily Mail' "On the transfer front, although Newcastle’s £5million bid for Cameroon midfielder Stephane Mbia hasbeen rebuffed by French club Rennes, Ashley continues to plan significant investment." -
Joe Kinnear has no intention of curbing his touchline antics, in spite of his repeated brushes with authority. The Newcastle United manager, who has two disciplinary cases pending, can expect a disrepute charge from the FA after his spat with Phil Brown, his Hull City counterpart, on Wednesday, but he will not modify his behaviour. The FA is studying the referee’s report of Hull’s 1-0 FA Cup third-round replay victory at St James’ Park, in which Kinnear and Brown squared up to each other on the touchline. Phil Dowd, the referee, sent both managers to the stands and sanctions are likely. Kinnear insisted yesterday that he was merely defending Chris Hughton, his assistant, and detailed his unhappiness with Brown, who applauded the booking of Fabricio Coloccini, the Newcastle defender. Brown was incensed by Coloccini’s double tackle on Daniel Cousin, but it was the Hull manager’s response that infuriated his opposite number. “I don’t know a manager that applauds the referee for giving players yellow cards,” Kinnear said. “He must be the only one that does it. When Chris told him he was out of order he [brown] decided to abuse him. I wasn’t going to accept that. I’ll always fight my corner and stick up for what I think is right and there’s no reason why I should change. I’m not going to have someone like that abuse my staff in front of me and then abuse my players.” Kinnear said that he “gets on with all managers except Brownie”, although he had strong words for Gary Megson, the Bolton Wanderers manager, who has suggested that his club have had a £2 million offer for Joey Barton rejected by Newcastle. “There’s been no bid,” Kinnear said. “Tell Gary Megson he is talking crap.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article5526684.ece

Kinnear should be gagged. Not over transfers or contracts, just fucking perminantly until his contract expires. -
Moreover Kinnear, having a few weeks ago declared he would have £12m to invest this month, seemed to be feeling rather less flush yesterday. "There are certain players I'm trying to sell," he said. "So a lot will depend on how much I get back for them." Asked whom he might offload, Newcastle's manager, who hopes to sell José Enrique and Xisco, responded: "Three but not any of the big boys. I might get £6m off sales and another £6m from Mike [Ashley], I'm waiting to hear. But it's Dennis Wise's quarters. Dennis [Newcastle's executive director] is doing the wheeling and dealing." For fucks sake, shut your mouth. Everytime i hear him now I want to cry. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jan/02/newcastle-united-premier-league

Good. Hope he backs up his commitment by investing in jan. Need to get behind him now, no time for protests or turmoil.
-
Proud of that spirit at the end there.
-
Would be great to see Mort back
-
Fair play to him. You really can't blame him. He doesn't know who our owners or manager will be next season, or how ambitious we'll be. Anyone in his position would be a fucking idiot to sign it now. Heres hoping we have a good few months as a club and he decides to keep his future with us

Joe Kinnear's frustration could be seen and heard yesterday. As his Newcastle United side seemed destined to squander another lead and draw a third consecutive home match, Kinnear's edginess was visible as he hopped from foot to foot in anguish. It was also audible in the expletive directed at Jose Enrique when he took the Spanish left-back off in the 88th minute. Kinnear did not know then that this was the game's defining moment. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/duff-brings-newcastle-perfect-gift-1207417.html Wtf? The lads obviously a confidence player, and if thats true, I am fucking annoyed at Kinnear after Jose hardly had a shocker today.

Kinnear; "Owen is mulling over contract with his agent, and we plan to meet with the chairman in 4 or 5 days" BBC
-
Change the thread title now ffs
-
About to show the goal on Sky Sports 1 So fucking happy, merry christmas. Inspired sub by JFK!
-
What? Enriques stuck to Lennon a hell of a lot better then most left-backs have done. Think he's done rather well, was a bit unlucky to be on a yellow card after 10 minutes.
-
Fairly even so far, nobodys really stood out either way I don't think. Shola was poor, and his injury could well be a blessing. Think Bassongs looked quite good so far. Their goal was fair, very tight but not offside. Our players saw Pavlyuchenko off and gave up.
-
So Bent, Woodgate and Jenas out for them... Modric and Lennon start despite having 'strains'. Heres hoping they pull something early on. Could do with King getting a kick to the knee too (come on sholaaaaaa). Andy Carroll on our bench ahead of Xisco, reckon he could well be off in january.
-
NOTW saying same thing.
-
Remember it was the mail who said 3 days ago that he'd rejected the contract already. They fucking hate us.
-
Jenas and Woodgate definately out apparantly - not travelled. Heres hoping King, Modric and Lennon all fail fitness tests.

JOE Kinnear today insisted he is optimistic about his chances of persuading Michael Owen to stay at Newcastle United. He revealed he spent more than an hour discussing the three-year deal which is on the table with the striker at the club's training ground on Tuesday. Kinnear said: "I spent more than an hour with him a couple of days ago. He's had what I consider to be a very good offer. "It's three years, and that would bring him up to the age of 32. "I'm optimistic. I'm more optimistic having spent that amount of time with him. "He will get together with his agent now and come back to me. We'll certainly find out in the next two or three days." Kinnear also reiterated that there is no way nine-goal Owen will be sold in next month's transfer window. He said: "I would prefer to have Michael Owen than any amount of cash. He's fit and well, scoring goals, and looking a real threat." http://www.shieldsgazette.com/nufc/Joe-39optimistic39-after-talks-with.4805613.jp Confirmed its a 4 year deal then.....
