  1. Agreed, especially for the Blue Square Premier clubs as someone mentioned a few posts ago. I don't known the numbers but I'd imagine a few at least will be relying on the Setanta money. Indeed. I live in Stevenage (dont spit at me), and support the club pretty closely. We're probably one of the very few lucky ones who can survive through it, due to winning the FA Trophy at the end of the season at Wembley, and all the revenue that goes with it. I think both Cambridge and Oxford in particular - big clubs with a good football league background are already losing hundreds of thousands of pounds per season down in the conference, and god only knows how much needed the setanta cash that each club gets is worth to them. Could be a scary few weeks/months. Timing is terrible too, 3 weeks before most clubs start preseason, if you go into adminstration now, you're gonna be fucked for the season before it starts.
  2. Very bad news for the Blue Square premier teams. The one thing I thought Setanta did do really well was cover the non-league games, and give a lot of airtime, exposure and extra money their way. Hope it doesn't mean any of those smaller clubs go under :\

    RIP sale thread.

Someone get an email sent. Make it look genuine perhaps, I'd love to know what the fuck they reply with.
  4. I do like the fact of how much coverage they give to the Conference. Never had that many when Sky had the rights, but yeah, they're royally shit apart from that.

    RIP sale thread.

    *edit *Slowwwwwwwwwww
  6. Still sounds good, and that we dont have anything to really worry about. Keeping Beye, Taylor and Bassong in the championship would be fantastic.
  7. Agreed, was just looking for a thread on him. Not convinced we'll try and get anyone in until they know a few are sold first.
  8. Just stuck a tenner on us going down at 8/15. Strange mentality that the £5 winnings i'd get would make me feel slightly better, but the truth is, its just an extra couple of drinks to make me feel worse tommorow
  9. Friends house, stacked with alcohol. Monday booked off work. Gonna be an emotional day either way.
  10. Extra game ban for his new club, I can see the logic now!

    Joey Barton

JOEY BARTON has been handed a shock stay of execution by boss Alan Shearer. Angry Shearer was set to kick bad-boy Barton, currently serving a 200-hour community service order, out of Newcastle after their bust-up at Liverpool three weeks ago. But following a two-hour meeting with Toon officials yesterday, the midfielder was told he DOES have a future on Tyneside after all. Barton said: “The meeting went fine. I can’t say too much.” Calls from Newcastle to terminate his contract will be ignored and Barton indicated he wants to be part of Shearer’s revolution next season. Shearer was fuming with Barton, 26, for a reckless red-card challenge on Xabi Alonso. The pair had a heated dressing-room slanging match. Barton was fined three weeks wages — £192,000 — and given a final warning by the club. He looked to be heading for the exit door but following his meeting with chairman Derek Llambias and secretary Lee Charnley, a source close to the player added: “The Newcastle people are fair people and gave Joey a good hearing. He has said sorry and he likes the club.” PFA chief Gordon Taylor confirmed: “There has been a meeting and the club has taken disciplinary action. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article2432276.ece Hmmmmmm.... Not sure what to think really.

    U23s & Academy

Because he's only 16? Maybe. I'm sure there were people saying he would be banging on the first team door by the end of the season, just surprised he's only had 1 start for the U18's. Actually thought he was a year or 2 older then 16 tbh.

    U23s & Academy

Spear started his first game for the U18's today. Considering his hype and potential when we signed him, is there any reason in particular he's not progressed maybe as much as hoped?

Ben Tozer shown training with the first team today.
  17. JOSE Enrique is out of this weekend's crunch survival clash at Stoke City. The Spanish defender suffered a knee injury in training earlier in the week and will not travel to Staffordshire. And boss Alan Shearer told nufcTV: "Unfortunately Jose won't be available. "He caught a ball on his toe earlier in the week and it twisted his knee slightly. Article continues>> "Hopefully though he won't be out for too long." Meanwhile, Shearer confirmed that both Steven Taylor (ankle) and Peter Lovenkrands (back) would also miss the game at the Britannia Stadium. http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1622007,00.html
  18. Bassong back, but Enrique (!!!!!), Taylor (S) and Lovenkrands all out injured :\
  19. What else can you expect Shearer to say, with Kinnear sitting at home currently manager? I thought he handled all the questions brilliantly really.

    Owen

Can honestly see Shearer being in charge give Owen a new lease of life. Really really hope so.
