The math needs to adjust based on real world changes in football. It hasn’t changed at all. The base line hurdle can’t simply stay static when the revenues are far greater with inflation and competition whilst expenses (wages, cost of goods at a real and inflated value) continues to increase. so while the big 5-6 teams continue to enjoy the benefits of the biggest sponsorship deals to increase their revenues the smaller teams can’t take that same deal because there are rules now in place limiting a commercial deal relative to the on-pitch success of a club. So how does a club do better? Sign better players and pay top wages…oh wait can’t do that because you can’t grow revenue as fast.
-
The lack of annual adjustment that is tied to the actual performance and real world happenings of the league/football in general is just a massive massive miss and oversight by the regulators.

Didn’t know we had licensed or board certified physios and doctors on this forum with all the supposed experts on load management and recovery and the like. While all of us are just speculating and using our best guesses we should all probably just assume the club’s staff are always in better position to determine who can play or not based on the severity of their respective injuries. What we as fans can do is ask the question if there any links to the breakdowns of the same players, why players aren’t getting operations and why the rehab doesn’t seem to be working…etc. would be nice if they’d come out and answer that because the injuries have completely fucked our season over. We’ve not had a single chance to show what we’re able to do full strength.
-
Ironic this all occurring after we upgraded the rehab areas too

The players play in an incredibly demanding system and have logged a ton of work between last season and now. The injuries look magnified because they all occurred one after another, the rushing back thing is probably a 50/50 thing between the player and coaching staff making a determination based on the fixtures and the lack of depth and then there’s the sheer shit luck of the whole thing that we didn’t actually have to deal with last season. Just crap luck and annoying imho, just before everyone starts going all bezerk in here, if nobody was rushed back and we were forced to play kids and got turnt over multiple times you’d be a upset for that reason too.

Tino is our best LB by a heft margin.

love that Starting watching football during World Cup 94; I was 8. Loved Italy and Roberto Baggio but didn’t know much about club football. Got into Milan and Blackburn (due to Shearer) in the fifa games but didn’t really have teams, just players. So roll on and as a huge shearer fan I supported England in Euro 96 as it was on espn2 here in the states. My dad and his brothers lived in London and Leicester for 10-15 years or so before my dad got married and moved to the US. So England was his national team of course and that helped. We just got the internet so followed him to Newcastle and the rest was history. A 27+ year long maddening love affair with this club.

Joelinton was a force in the cup game v them too no?
