All the positives when we signed him lauded his ability to drive with the ball into space and carry up the pitch; that his chance creation could be top tier if he went to the by line and played a ball low across or cut backs inside. He’s doesn’t really do any of that anymore for us. his defensive game when on form is elite; not many better 1 v 1 defenders out there. This season he seems flat footed and switches off / slow to react to danger or chances on both ends.

He’s a really confusing player. Played a ton at left back last season and looked assured at both ends. Last season he attacked space from the right. Killer 1 v 1 defender. This season he’s half asleep on both ends at times. He’s got the physical gifts to be the best!
