Not really the same system though. By the time Diaz became the LW the attack was way more Salah focused and Firmino was no longer at his peak either. Prime Firmino glued everything together. He dragged CBs out constantly which opened lanes for both Salah and Mane to attack. Mane was basically a second striker off the left making constant back post and inside runs so defenses had to respect both sides equally. Mane was arguably as good as Salah then. With Diaz it became way more about him carrying the ball wide beating players and destabilizing so Salah could end the move. Mane was definitely more ruthless in the box but people act like Diaz was meant to be into the exact same role when the whole front 3 dynamic had already changed.

Gordon will do well and I’m happy if he goes abroad. Thing is he wants to go and seems pretty damn obvious he has wanted to leave for a few years now. Max fee and then rebuild with it.

Honestly, he's a fantastic left back and has pocketed all but 2-5 players he's come up against this season. His box defending, 1 v 1 defending and reading of game have come on leaps and bounds this season. His area of improvement is actually being more decisive in attack and trusting his own skills more (imo). He is a LB/LWB 100%. Don't think he should be playing in midfield or as a winger.
