Swiss player, played for Borussia Mönchengladbach then briefly for Juve now at Chelsea. He's a powerhouse CM signed by Tuchel but seemingly hasn't been used at all by Potter.

I really don't see anyone snuffing out the system - its deeply rooted in fitness. If fit enough, you can press - most players are not press resistant and will make mistakes. The mistakes lead to chances and goals. Teams who do well against the press have enough individual ability to pass around it and carry the ball forward. The way it won't work as much is when teams either shithouse, play long/direct and the players up pitch win the 1 v 1 with our CBs/fullbacks and/or we go up against a team who presses like we do and it then becomes another duel-like scenario of matchups.

He looks like the most unathletic and old footballer ever with that celebration. RIP though

There is still so much more to come from him, i thought he looked incredible over the weekend interchanging with Willock - making tackles, driving forward, providing cover for the left side and then of course scoring his goal. When he was flying for Hoffenheim, he was at his best as a left sided forward no?

Good point @midds Backups for: GK, RB, LB, CM, Wingers are needed at some point.

We're going to start simply having space to impose our will, teams won't be able to double up or crowd out our better players because gaps will be left and we'll punish them.

Really hope we end before the WC break with 2 wins, but i'd be 100% happy with a win and draw. 1 loss before the cup only feels very very important to me.

I'm still sat here thinking about how interesting this January window will be. Assuming we get the right results and stay around 4-5th place before the World Cup break, how do we strengthen? Tactically we're absolutely guns blazing pressing team and our #8's in Joelinton, Willock, and Longstaff all have a TON of legs to get about the pitch. I know Bruno wants to play further forward, but he hasn't the same athleticism as those three who are performing so damn well. If we sign a top class #6, and Bruno takes the Longstaff role, does that harm our ability to press? ie: Longstaff's interception v the Spurs game for Miggy's goal. If we sign a winger, how does that impact Miggy's role in the team? Miggy is undroppabe at this point from a goal return perspective but he's also incredible in the press.

Hopefully a comfortable (and fun) away win for us and we can really go all out against Chelsea before the break.
