Ashworth wasn’t a problem until he was quietly taking emails from his Man United mates on company monitored communication. Ashworth isn’t a scout and never claimed to be one. Eddie only had a problem with him when Ashworth was flirting with another rival club on our time.
  2. HAHA the guy who stays at clubs a few years and scouts players who a manager then has to develop over Howe. Yeah ok.

Based off what? Has anyone ever asked him what his views on the scouting, data etc going forward? Was it ever his remit to do that when Ashworth, Mr Center of the Wheel, was there? Nearly all of his signings have been hits. He didn’t want to lose Minteh. He’s asked if the previous scouting was not fit for purpose and he very clearly said the signings I was part of were hits. Which they were.
  4. The one manager who I absolutely wanted outside of Howe was universally hated at the end of last season in Dortmund. A man who tactically is the most switched on mind in my eye but apparently was fucking awful in Bundesliga last season and the fans were happy to get rid of despite making the CL fucking final. It ain’t all grass is greener lads.

I assume 99% here are Newcastle United over “individuals” but if you one for second think Eddie Howe isn’t thinking what’s best for the fans and his players over the shield that is NUFC than you need a reality check. Mitchell and Eales are suits who bounce around from job to job. Remember that before you want to make sweeping comments. Remember we’re fans. This man has done nothing but think of what’s best for US and the players. @KaKa you’ve mentioned a ton of other clubs who had better head starts, an actual functioning academy, an actual functioning infrastructure at football and corporate level and no Mike Ashley. Sadly, we are an absolute anomaly of football. All we had to prop us up was a rabidly supportive fan base and a 52,000 stadium. Other than that, we were fucking useless in every single area. Our best academy talent consists of Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley and the now gone Elliott Anderson. It should in theory, based on all the new rules created to fucking hold us back, take us a decade+ to compete yet we have a manager who cobbled together the 4th best points total since he joined our club. Mate I will always love your passion and analysis on talent out there, but you absolutely need to step off the gas pedal with some of your takes as of late. Have some patience. Respect EH. He’d school every single fucking person on this forum on football.
  6. Get ya popcorn out, I’ll probably get my first ban if I see anyone actually truly attempting to voice a coherent position on why Mitchell should be backed over Howe based on the sum total of recruitment at other clubs in the past.
  7. Who do people want instead? Who’s elite and world class who’d take on this chalice of working with players the club can’t shift?
  8. We have a fuck load of football to play and another transfer window.
  9. Yeah, I wasn’t woosh’d. Just incredibly poor football knowledge and analysis. 4th in total points since he took over. Yet people think they know more than him and want someone “world class”
  10. What fucking human being sits around pushing for Howe out after Luton beat us and sits around just gasping and waiting for a time to say I told you so? Just think its strange behavior. Did everything positive that came after Luton fucking away make you mad? “Oooo he’s not going to be out any time soon” Or are you just taking the piss? If so, I’ll 100% say you got me.
  11. You’re weird as fuck.

    Anthony Gordon

He’s got to take responsibility for how he’s played these 6 games; he’s an absolutely world class talent, but he’s got so much to continue to work on. Eddie has backed him and played him left, right, and central. He’s had every single chance to make impacts and push his will on matches. Play often is gone through him - he must stand up and fix whatever is going on.
  13. Honestly, if there is something we as fans should take some comfort in, we have a bunch of guys who needed this kick in the teeth and this should push us on. We have never had bad eggs under Howe. We have real leaders and real dressing room togetherness on and off the pitch. The boys will solve this and we’ll kick on.
  14. I know it’s just deflecting the point about Howe, but if he wanted Guehi or Tosin, you can’t blame him when you look at our CBs at this point. Kraft, Burn (hybrid CB / fullbacks) and Fab. Kelly who is the same as the former but new to the team.
  15. Yeah, i don’t think he was in the best of form earlier last season (and to be fair, nobody was good in the early days) and as things started to turn — Sheffield away, and he FINALLY got his goal, he ended up being massively hurt.
  16. Another point I’ll make is that let’s remove Eddie out of the discussion (in the Eddie thread, ha) he’s been let down by some absolutely criminal individual mistakes and errors by his top players, especially today. That’s Joelinton, Gordon, Bruno, Pope, Schar and Kelly, to just name some names. Those individuals can go in a huff and all that, and we as fans can question the manager for selections, but his leaders and gems and signings (+ contract renewal guys) made some critical / criminal errors today. I say this every season but individual errors like the ones we’ve seen from some of our best players are 100% on the players and they need to take responsibility. We as what I think are smart fans, need to also separate a player’s error vs. a coach’s.
  17. yes mate, obviously he wasn’t in the best of form last season but as he started getting going he got hurt and his entire injury fiasco really crushed him (and us). Remember when the entirety of football were calling him Rolls Royce? Elegant, strong, great tackler, good passer, good in the air. He either swept up or he was able to push up and help us press. Dan Burn cannot do that role. Schar can do that role (see how decent we were with him and Jamaal) but I don’t think Dan Burn can do that. Our press needs Gordon running through a wall and in form (He’s not). It needs Bruno making his tackles and dictating play (he’s not). It needs out. Fullbacks making those interceptions (they aren’t) and our 8’s need to cover the pitch (they aren’t).
  18. Win Tuesday, and play our very best 11 v City at home. The missing piece of Botman is so fucking massive I can’t overstate it, his interceptions high up the pitch at midfield allowed us to pin teams in over sustained periods.
  19. I’ve never seen a middle eastern company move with any bit of swiftness as it relates to business decisions ( @McCormick ) would be best placed to confirm or refute that given he’s lived and breathed it more than anything on here (i think?) Eddie has to get this midfield right, he needs Botman back, and the GEMS we fought hard to keep need to fucking step up.

He and Bunce just look so bloody evil

    Alexander Isak

Sure could use Wilson’s physicality in matches like today with Isak playing off him.
  22. I do have some concerns with just how disjointed we look overall and when does it all get back into shape?
  23. Kanj

    Paul Mitchell

Isak maybe. Bruno is the foundation of the ball playing / keeping and he’s been the biggest culprit of them all.
  24. Sandro, Barnes and Isak are non negotiable starters. We need Sven back asap.
