Again, I highly doubt Bruno would kick up a fuss because his talisman of a striker gets the biggest pay day going. The characters we have cultivated would likely rally around the fact the club showed the ambition to keep a player who has the ability to score a winning goal in a cup final or score 20+ and fire us to CL. It would match the ambition they have that we’re trying to build something special here.

Like I said in another thread, there should be no reason why we’re not signing the best players from PL clubs that finished below us. The fact Pedro and Delap are being offered more money than our highest earners and they haven’t proven fuck all yet is fucking horrible. The restrictions we’re faced with aren’t fair at all.

We will need to agree to disagree. It’s not extreme short term thinking. We will NEVER be a consistent CL team if we don’t continue to pay the going rate for top tier talent. Losing arguably one of the worlds best strikers because we can’t afford to pay him the going rate is a complete kick in the gut for our long term ambitions.

He agreed to a salary before he became one of the best strikers in the world for a team not yet in the CL, who’s revenue have increased and when other competitors are offering wages to less talented and proven players far higher than his own in a career where your best playing days are quite short and your income potential is rightly maximized so you can provide for yourself and your own. Yes you’re terribly old fashioned in your views on this matter, but still love you bro.

Chevalaier should be the one.

We just finished 5th and secured CL; you’re telling me we shouldn’t be looking the best player from relegated Ipswich, or Brighton, or Palace, etc? none of those targets out performed any of our top players. It just shows you how shit this PSR thing has become that only those with infinite cushion can make those signings now. Hoovering up whoever they want.

yeah that’s what I’ve been banging on about and it’s truly absurd that it isn’t. Salary caps in the USA update every season with the change in the revenue streams.

What I find particularly frustrating is that despite playing domestically Delap and JP were far from the prospect Isak was when we landed him. Ekiteke is some way off that too and he was abroad but given the desperation Liverpool are in to find a striker, coupled with the continued inflation of transfer fees and rising wages of every single player in football, the deals are becoming absurdly priced beyond what we’ve been able to grow.

Chelsea have some 80m fine they have to pay right? What about registering players?

The kind of thing I was hoping we'd do like immediately after the takeover.

All jokes aside this is quite an exciting thing we've finally appointed. Kid's job history is tremendous.

Nobody learns anything on this forum. Every fucking club with a sense of a brain ties up players to longer term deals on higher wages to stave off interest and protect themselves. Its our thick and stubborn fans who want to pay whatever we can to get X player to then turn around and wonder why you don't renew contracts for some of our gems.

He pulled the plug on a keeper deal, needlessly chased after Guehi and told everyone at the club he’d get it done and got messed about by Parish. He then randomly tried to get Elanga on deadline day with Miggy going that way. He said no new contract for Isak. He boldly criticized our scouting even though Nickson’s hit rate is absolute top bin. His job was to be the main football man at board level to do whatever it is that continues to take the club forward, which includes finding a happy medium with the top class manager we have, he seemingly just coasted through that and walked out while Eddie was on holiday. Useless. and Yes, I’m pinning a lot on him, as i am with Eales. As I am with PIF and the board. the only ones seemingly doing right by us are the coaches and players.

Just a reminder the PSR loss limit hasn’t changed yet the cost of doing football business is going up at a rate greater than anyone can conceivably grow revenue which is further limited by various rules and tests based on your club size and commercial history. The whole system isn’t designed for anyone to grow but ones with a head start yet most of the clubs continue to agree to not make any proper changes to the system. I’m at a loss for words.

Reserving my words for someone who is dealing with a horrible diagnosis but it nearly all needs to be at his door. -

We are getting a harsh lesson this summer that while our talent ID is clearly top notch, we haven’t the financial muscle to pay the fees and wages Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United can pay and will need to eat our humble pie that agents and selling clubs may sniff out those clubs and deals and wait out doing a deal with us if they feel they can get it done. I have always felt the club was always doing its utmost best to be the best version of itself but I have major questions for PIF, Jamie and whoever makes up the executive team at the club. They are cocking up what should have been a transformative summer on the back up an absolutely brilliant season. Failing the fans, the general staff, football staff, players and coaches by not creating alignment on the major drivers of our clubs future. -

We allegedly agreed terms with him but Liverpool came in with a better offer and paid the fee the selling club wanted. -

Nah mate we made an ambitious move and it didn’t pan off in the end. -
He canceled contract talks that subsequently led the club to the position it’s now in with Isak, whether you wanted him to sign a 20m winger who became the next Mbuemo or something or not, it’s the biggest fucking own goal imaginable from the club and hopefully can be fixed in the coming weeks. If you don’t see past that or you think it’s some excuse now to just blame a guy who’s gone, I really don’t know what to tell you.
