Not justifying Pardew, but perhaps his thinking is in the 5th place season we were nicking results and the team was playing more like a team, and right now he's gone to basics - get the team playing as a unit and re-insert Hatem back into a well-drilled team where he's reminded he needs to up his work rate...?

It's really important when we've been sitting deep and attacking on the counter. He's lethal when he's picking up the counter attack and using that pace and drive of his. The crowd will continue to turn up and buy shirts regardless though. If we go on a ten game losing streak, and Fat Mike goes to every season ticket holders house personally, and s***s on their living room floor, they'll still turn up. So why should he spend money when he can do it on the cheap? Surely better product on the pitch and results = justification for higher ticket prices, more season ticket sales, more merchandising opportunities, more sponsorship or corporate revenues? Its a simple business 101 concept that a supposed business genius has failed to grasp. Very odd to me that concept has seemed to be lacking with Mike Ashley; his lack of pride for something he owns is continuing to devalue his Sports Direct brand when its plastered all over the the pitch and such.

I'm thrilled we've won, tbh. I'm just not going to sit back and give a man a smile and plaudits who's made a mockery of the position...including his pre and post match comments about his boss. He needs to shut his mouth, thank the fans for CONTINUED support and his players who put in a shift.

We won b/c his Plan A worked. Had he had to switch to Plan B, we know the evidence in the past of that. No bueno.

cech got a vital touch tbf I haven't seen any replays, but looked as if it was one you have to finish. No big deal, like. He was very good throughout. It was a hard angle, one that would had favoured a left footer. If he went left footed or outside of right foot he may have scored, but Cech did well there, was a top save tbh.

My exact issue with him are the performances versus Villa, Hull, Liverpool, Sunderland, and Chelsea. 0 consistency; we don't know what team is going to turn up each match. Today, he got it right, and credit where its due - if it was him brilliantly setting up the team or if it was Chelsea playing poorly, or instructing Cabaye to hit it the way he did into the box or not - we won today and we beat Chelsea. But I'm happier for the players and we supporters who've suffered too much for too long under this guy. He's still a snake and he's Mike Ashley's crony, I'll likely not get back on board with him, ever again.

Happy for him, hope his development continues upward.

He looked great today, he played his up & down the pitch to perfection. His block on Eto'o was match saving as well.

He was huffing and puffing; assumed he'd come off but he seemed to gain that extra bit of adrenaline....class finish!
