I would take McNeil or Dennis at around 10M, Sarr around 20M. If they ask for more then I would rather splash 50m on Diaby / Paqueta

But then sometimes if the player is not significantly better then what we have, I don’t think we should go for him for the sake of slight improvement. We already paid 25m for Wood which a lot of people here already wanted out. I personally rather not signing Harrison due to similar reason. Yea Murphy Almiron aren’t good enough but is Harrison really much better, or we need to sign someone to replace him again next season and wasted another 30m?

I think the question is should the club that patient and take a high risk by waiting for the last few days of the window to see if Diaby is available, or should the club just take a lower risk and go for the 2nd or 3rd choice like Sarr now and conclude the business?

There were the likes of Owen Anelka or even CR7 Messi that able to make the big jump around 17-18 years old. However there were much more examples of players that were unable to make it and ruined their career. If we want to find an example, this guy is just like our Carroll - shined for us in EPL for a few months, got a great move to the top team, and then unable to cope with the change in system since he was still very raw at that time. If Carroll stayed for 1-2 more seasons he should have a much better career since he could continue to learn the trade here, even taking into consideration of his injuries.

That is a very bad move if you considered his lack of match experience at such a high level.

I think we do want him but the priority is lower than Etikite and Botman, who do make sense considering our squad depth

What you should also consider is what if PSG approach him next season in case he really joined us. I have absolutely no trust on him / his agent.

I think people need to adjust their expectation a bit. I genuinely didn’t see Botman to be a lot better than Dan Burn. I know we did sign Burn as a second or third choice during January, but sometime it doesn’t mean that the first choice must be a lot better than the third. We signed Robert after we failed to get Zenden, which turned out to be a masterpiece. I won’t be surprised if Botman performance for us during the coming season is poorer than Burn considering his age and experience.

Think if you are Watford fans, what’s your feeling if the club sell Sarr for just 20m with 2 years left on this contract, which they had paid for 30m 30m is fucking bare minimum for the deal

If you purely consider the status of two clubs then he should pick Milan. However if he also consider his chance in the first team then Newcastle is a better place since we can guarantee him starting eleven place.
