  1. It's been obvious he would not come when the transfer wasn't finalised before Laporta left. Rosell is never going to meet Arsenal's asking price. I do want him, hopefully next year. Nah. This World Cup has taught him a lesson - he will be at most a squad rotation player at Barca. And he won't accept that, he is just 23 FFS. At least 5 yrs later imo.

    Dan Gosling

Well this is for the future. We couldn't rely on him to fight relegation battle in the coming season. Still a very positive signing though. He would be very useful if we play a 4-5-1 formation.
  3. Ar yea, just have been discussed with friends about this, he has a question: How about a keeper foul his opponent who apparently trying to round him and nearly succeed and prepare to finish it off? Is this a" certain goal"?
  4. No. Red card and a penalty is fair enough. To be honest, I always feel like it's the other way round - red card + a goal conceded is too harsh. Face it, if Gyan has scored the penalty, no one here will scream about the rule. Midds got a point. The other problem is it will leads to a lot more controversal decision since it requires the referee to judge what means "a certain goal". How do you define that? Does that means without the interference of the hand the ball should be in the net? Or whatever a shot is blocked by the means of hand? Apply it to this case, are you sure the ball will be a goal without Suarez' interference? From what I see, the ball should hit Suarez' head instead of go directly into the net. I am not sure how the ball will bounce after hitting Suarez head, it may still bounce towards the net, I don't know. But the point is, it's ridiculously hard to define what is a "certain" goal in football. And in football ONE goal counts a lot more than other's sports. Such controversal decision, and the consequences, are too much for the referee to carry with. A better way to deal with is to penalize Suarez heavier AFTER the match, say 6 matches ban.
  5. Walcott can't be worse than him, eh?
  6. Put it simple, English players are not "tactically" well-educated. That's something you can hide at club level by regular teambuilding but got exposed at international level. That's no coincidence that all those superstars - Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes in the past - plays like shit for most of their England's game. Rooney is a bit better but he seems like having motivation problems. 2010 seems a bit too early for Capello. Give him time to build the team and hopefully 2012 the team is really completed and able to perform.

Hoping this insight doesn't mean that we're more f***ed than we might have believed? not really we just put transfer cash from last year to cover loses The key point is we have mortgaged ALL the assets we have, including debt receivable.

well it "just" means that we have nearly pledged every bits of assets last year. If we got 5m transfer budget this summer I would be happy then...
  9. Exactly. Guthrie deserves a stater role and it would be silly to spend 5m on a rotation player. Instead, a cheeky bid of 3m for Bouba Diop would be much better.
  10. Probably can't. His body has kinda finished, unlike Beckham.

    U23s & Academy

The promotion of Airey and Adjei are the proofs that we aren't going to spend money this summer and we have to rely on them for covers. No disrespect to the lads, glad to see them given chances - but that would be unlikely to happen should we have a 10m+ transfer budget.
  12. South Africa is worse than Brazil imo. Other than the crime rate, there's lots of terrorists. 2018 should be the battle between China and Australia. For 2022, my bet would be England or Netherlands.

    José Mourinho

The point is, probably no manager in the world can beat Barca without a superstar team. Inter isn't that great in terms of player quality compare with Chelsea last year. However Mourinho did it. That's enough. The beauty of football is how the team win the game by playing out their tactics and strengths.
  14. That's not bullshite. Stoke players have been playing too far too aggressive in this match.
  15. Looks pretty bad. Hopefully its just the bone that is knackered and not the rest of it as thats usually where the problems come in. I think the opposite. It looks not that bad. I mean, for "broken foot" case, this is the minimal. If it's the knee or ankle that is knackered, Ramsey's simply finished. Hopefully he can make a recovery. Probably not a full one, but 80% is possible.
  16. I don't understand his logic. So every "throw-in" becomes a FK?

    Jonas Gutierrez

You guys get it wrong. To say Argentina's best winger atm (painfully true) is shit is unbelievable. He just aren't willing to play 100%. Not questioning his attitude, but probably due to the upcoming 2010 World Cup. Being assured by Maradona that he is a definite starter, he probably agreed to take no risk at club level. That's why he is unwilling to take on opponents --- an injury can end his World Cup dream. Boo him or not, I can understand his decision.
  18. Dave, I got your point, just that it does matter when the club needs cash injection just for paying the expenses. I hope we won't be in this position but it is not impossible either.

    Nile Ranger

Believe it or don't, it's Carroll who has higher probabilities to succeed in EPL. Not doubting Ranger's talents but Carroll's aerial abilities is exceptional.
  20. It would be silly to replace Hughton at the moment. He should be allowed to manage the whole season. After that we should find someone who is much better than Shearer.

    Xisco's back

What he said is he stopped playing "for the last few matches" in order to get move. I don't blame him tbh, considered that he has been overlooked for nearly half a year and clearly he isn't going to get any matches in the coming year.

    RIP sale thread.

to look in an optimistic point of view, this means Ashley did want to sell the club to Moat --- and probably Moat do have a chance to secure his finance, or else Ashley would simply take the club off the market.
